The dark gloomy Sky stood upon the battle field, countless vultures making out a certain movement pattern as they awaited their moment of reward where they would feast without stop.
On the battlefield, a certain individual fought his way through the army of thousands fearlessly claiming lives with each swing of his sword drenching it with the blood of the enemy.
Damion, drenched in blood, could be seen bravely fighting his way through countless humanoid beasts, His royal princely battle robes losing its original white color being replaced by splatters of red all over it, but he cared not as he continued to pierce the green skin of the enemy which almost seemed impenetrable.
He continued to fight his way through the sea of heads which blocked the path between he and the General of the Drycan army. If he could just get close enough to the general, he was sure to end this whole charade with one single swipe of his sword and bring victory to the vampires.
For decades, he had fought countless battles against this race all for this moment.. the moment which would determine the fate of both races for the Drycan king himself was present.
If he could kill the Drycan king, then his victory would be secured. The Drycan king was the sire of all Drycans, if he were to be killed, then all the other Drycans would accompany him in his descent to hell.
But killing these creatures were not as easy as it seemed.
The vampires, even with their high healing speed, couldn't negate the attacks of these creatures in time as they possessed great speed which the vampires simply couldn't compare to. Moreso, from their claws, dripped venom which could kill a vampire once it entered a vampire's blood system.
All these factors made these creatures relatively hard to kill.
But the vampires did possess one thing which the Drycan's didn't,... common sense.
The Drycans were brutes and fought savagely in a way that resembled that of beasts. Their lack of proper battle gear also made these beasts easy to kill for those with enough skill. Although their skin was hardly penetrable, if they applied enough effort they could easily slaughter these savages.
Damion continued to advance towards the general of the army and soon, after a countless amount of slaughtering, he managed to reach the Drycan general. It continued to slaughter the vampires it currently engaged in combat, oblivious of it's new enemy which gazed upon it like a stray dog which was about to be slaughtered for disobeying it's master. Damion clenched his fist on his sword and zoomed of to attack the Drycan.
Just as the weapon was about to make contact with the beast, it grabbed the sword with one of it's hands and proceeded to attack damion with the other stretching out it's claws to his head.
Damion feared that this momemt would befall him one day, he just never expected it to be this soon. Certain Drycans like the king and it's generals possessed a trait which differed them from the others. Unlike their counterparts who seemed to fight like beasts, these Drycans seemed to possess some form of intelligence and a rare example of those Drycans was right before him. Unlike the other Drycans he fought, it was more muscular and taller. Immediately, Damion could tell that this fight wouldn't be as easy as he presumed it to be. He feared for the outcome of this battle for he had never fought these types of Drycans before.
He proceeded to strike the beast once more and struck the same place he had before. He had a way to overcome this beast and that was with the utilisation of his superior intelligence. The Beast, fooled by his action, proceeded to launch the same counterattack it had launched earlier. Just as the blade was about to get caught by the Drycan once again, Damion changed the trajectory of the weapon to it's lower abdomen and alas, the beast was too slow to block this attack and was conquered easily.
As soon as it's general fell, the king became furious. Damion could hear its roar from miles away. Then, with great speed, it began to head to his location slaughtering everything in it's path sending vampire flying and when it reached a certain distance away from him, he lept into the air. Damion had no time to waste as he snapped out of his daze and lept towards the Drycan king. When they came in close proximity with each other one was able to tell the difference between these two. Beside the Drycan king, Damion looked no more than an ant before an elephant but Damion maintained his unfazed expression as he raised his weapon in the air. Their seemed to be still as the war came to a halt. The vampires sympathised for their prince as even they could tell the outcome of this battle.
Damion sword was only inches away from the Drycan kings neck when suddenly,... He vanished.
The expression on the king's face changed from that of anger to that of confusion. No one knew where the young prince had vanished to.
Just as quick as he vanished, the vampire prince appeared behind the Drycan king utilizing the element of surprise as he channeled all of his strength towards his sword and slashed the head of the Drycan king.
Before the head of the king could even drop to the ground, the rest of the Drycans had already began to turn to ashes... All except the Drycan king as it's headless body began to roam the battle field.
Damion had his back turned to the king as he presumed it to be dead, so he had not noticed the body stretching it's claws to his lower abdomen.
Alas, the cries of warnings from the vampires were futile and all they could do was watch their prince fall to the ground drained of life. It turned out that the beast had not been so foolish as they presumed it to be for it had used the same attack that took it's life to take that of it's slayer.
But regardless, a victory was still a victory and the vampires would be sure to keep their prince in their hearts till they die.
