[knock...knock]
The eerie atmosphere intensified after a few more seconds, the childlike voice knocking again and asking if anyone was there. The voice repeated its question over and over, each knock growing louder and more insistent. The atmosphere became increasingly sinister, the shadows in the cave seeming to press in on them.
Gunn, visibly irritated, cut through the chaos, clicking his mandibles. "Enough!" he shouted, his voice echoing in the cavern. "If you know we're here, stop the noise and show yourself!"
Silence fell after Gunn's outburst, the oppressive quiet almost worse than the incessant knocking. Then, a low growl resonated from the other side of the wall, a sound that sent chills down everyone's spine. "There you are," the voice responded, now dripping with malice.
[knock...knock...THUD! THUD!]
