Well what a year it has been. I started Packmule ages ago, I think five years ago, when Solo Leveling was just getting popular in the states. The progressive Hunter System genre was just getting going, and tower/regressor type stories were just starting off. My poor drive is full of half started or 10 chapter in stories of this genre but I always get drawn back here. Oz is a fun character to write, she's complex but surprisingly simple. She is a stubborn woman no matter what situation I put her in. Be it out of revenge or desire, when Oz wants something she goes for it.
Lately I've been thinking of restarting the story, bored of the abusive step parent troupe. I swear, every manga I read always has that. Are people's relationships with their families that bad? So far the restart has about four chapters in? Since smaller chunks fit the Web novel style over the longer reads. The hardest thing is system writing, I always felt it wasn't used to the full potential in the first draft. Maybe I should turn it more to a UI over a system, full game mode. The glitching was fun when I remembered it, lol. The idea of it is so fun, but I get lost in the style. Light Novels are supposed to be fast reads, just thrown in. Not full of prose and delicate writing, I'm not going for a new york best seller here.
Lately I've been reading full fantasy again, Fourth Wing right now. Omfg this book is so bad but I keep reading it. Like the Twilight of this generation. But what can I say, she wrote it and got it out there while my stories are rotting on drive.
Just a good point to all of us inspiring authors : Look at the trash out there, it got published. We have no excuses.
Right now we're going into the Holidays and Peak season, but I'm hoping come New Years maybe just maybe I'll get this story back on it's feet and moving. Be it a full rewrite or a recon back a few chapters.
Happy Holidays and Here's to a Happy New Year
