Chapter 50 - Chapter 50 : Achievement Status?

'Now you ask questions? You come into my tomb, weapons raised.' The Lich flicked his walking cane at her, crackles of energy surging through the water under his feet. Each pulse sent the party backwards, the push back enough even made Nahern stumble.

"I'm sorry." Oz answered much to the Lich's surprise, the light his sockets gently brightened. "Please, I have no interest in clearing a dungeon or even hurting anyone that has not wronged me. I'm sorry I fell into your cavern, I'm sorry I woke you, I'm sorry that I had a breakdown on top of you. I just need the Dungeon's Star."

She spoke honestly while pointing above the Lich's head. The glittering prism shined a gentle blue then to pink then to white, shifting back and forth in such a way. Casting rainbows over the ice covered ceiling of the cavern. Oz swore she heard the prism calling for her, singing for her. If she closed her eyes she could make out the angelic chorus above her head, luring her to just reach out.

But just beyond her reach.

"The star?" The lich looked skyward, "There is nothing there, you foolish girl."

"Still your tongue." Taegan yelled out, "Before you is the Dragon's Saint!"

The lich's eyes went white at that, the entire cavern shook. Dangerous spikes came from the ceiling as the waters rose and sank, shaking everyone off their feet. Oz stumbled and shook, barely standing upright thanks to the mighty hammer by her side.

"Dragon Saint? You dare say that name to me! ME! The great Wizard …." The lIch's voice turned to static, unable to speak his own name. His gloved hands flew up, bony hands ripped through the white fabric to show monsterous clawed fingers. Scratching at the cow skull that made up his face.

"That fool stole my skull, left me to die, but I will last forever." Muttered the lich, over and over. Power surging from each pulse of his magic.

Oz clicked her tongue, well at least Source was still with her. She could do this right?

"Oz get back here!" Selene yelled in worry. "You aren't strong enough for this! Let us defeat him."

Instead Oz charged forward, using the surge of energy to push her forward. Her arms wide as the Lich threw his arms up, roaring. Magic coursed through him, charging another painful blast of energy. She threw her full weight into him, wrapping her arms around him like a spider monkey.

"Just listen to me dammit!" Oz yelled, tangling her arms around the Lich's neck, her legs around his thin frame.

"Unhand me you fool!"

"No, not until you listen!" Oz squeezed her legs tighter, her arms nearly crushing him. Magic spiraled around the Lich's hand, but with her spider-monkeyed around him, he couldn't release the spell properly.

Nahern readied another arrow, his eyes narrowed. "Move you idiot! I'll hit you!"

Oz shook her hand and pulled, she had to get this lich somewhere they could talk. She didn't want to kill. Oz was so tired of killing all the time, even if she was good at it. Be it monsters or people now, she just wanted to talk. And she was just so, so very tired.

"Come on, just listen to me." Oz held her hands up, "Lets just talk this over and be done with it. You're tired, I'm tired. I just want the star and you can go back to sleep."

"Even you abandon me!" The Lich screamed.

Another magical blast, this time the Lich nearly threw her off. Oz let out a shot as she twirled around him, having to grab onto the lapels of his jacket to keep from hitting the ground.

"Persistent little pest!" The lich yelled, throwing up his walking cane. Oz was now directly in his path, skull eye sockets blue with fury.

"Begone!!!" The Lich screamed, Oz went flying when the magical suge rushed through him. She grunted when she hit the wall. Selene rushed to her side, the woman groaned holding her head.

"I need you to distract him, we need his skull. '' Oz said, wiping the drop of blood off her lip. "We need to talk in private."
