Manager's room.
I looked at the corpse who used to be Hina's manager. The whole room was painted with the blood of the victim.
The organs scattered around the room making it look like straight out of a horror movie.
Even Hina standing beside me couldn't bear it. She had to go outside with a purple face.
"To be honest, this is the most brutal death that I have ever witnessed," I commented.
Even the most vicious pirate that I knew wouldn't do this.
"Okay, since everyone is here. Can you tell me where you were when the victim was dead?" Officer Megure asked.
"I was with Hina, the employee of this restaurant. You can verify it by using the camera's restaurant." I answered calmly.
"I see. Then you and Hina are moved from the suspect list." Megure wrote something into the note before turning his attention towards a group of people wearing Black suits.
"No need to ask them, they were sitting in the restaurant for the whole time. You can also check it on camera." Before he could ask, I spoke for them.
"Thank you for telling me that." Megure nodded and went towards the police who collected clues in the room.
"Tell me that you guys have found something," Megure said.
"Sorry, sir. Nothing has been found. Even the weapon which killed the victim."
"Please search carefully again. I don't want to write this case as an unsolved case because the murderer of this time is too brutal." Megure begged.
"I know, sir. It's just. We didn't find any trace of a weapon in the scene. Also. According to the wounds on the corpse, it looks like he was torn apart alive by something very big. Like a beast."
"I see. Luckily, we have Yuusaku Kudou follow us. Maybe I can ask him to solve this case." Megure turned to me and all Black Organization's members and said.
"Can you bear with us that we need all of your presence here for further investigation?"
"No. We have already said what we must. If you don't believe our words, you can believe the camera which records us the whole time" Gin replied and said to his teammates.
"Let's go. We don't need to cooperate with them anymore."
Gin left the restaurant following him were the Black Organization's members.
Looking at their leaving, Megure was startled.
He hurriedly said to stop them.
"Please understand us. This is due to our job."
"NO NEED TO UNDERSTAND HERE. We are done with the corporation." Gin scolded loudly at Megure's face.
"Officer Megure. I understand your duty as police. But you must know that they have nothing to do with this case. So just let them go. After all, everyone has their bad day, Aren't you?" I had to step in to stop Megure.
If I wasn't, a gunfight would explode in this place. I didn't want to be involved in this complicated matter.
"But."
I placed a finger on his mouth and hissed.
"It's okay. I am also a detective. I can assure you that they really have nothing to do with this case." I said to reassure him.
He nodded at my words.
Megure had no choice but to let them go.
Just before he completely let them go, I added.
"Besides, I have to stop you because they have guns in their pocket," I whispered into Megure's ears.
His pupils contracted when he heard that.
"Are you sure about that? Then this will become a serious matter." Megure asked to confirm again.
"Of course, I am sure that they have guns in their clothes. You should know. In this kind of weather, it isn't suitable to wear long clothes. But they do. This doesn't make them very suspicious, does it?" I said and added.
"If I didn't stop you, with your personality, they would draw their gun and headshot you" I knocked on Megure's forehead which was sweating profusely.
"So be wise and call another team to handle this. You can't handle them."
"Okay. I understand." Megure replied.
He moved steadily to the corner to report the group of people carrying weapons around.
"This should hold them long enough. Speaking of this, where is Hina-chan by the way? She stood beside me last minute ago." I looked around but didn't find the shadow of that girl.
"Stop. There is nothing in there." A boy's voice rang out attracting my attention.
"Kid. If you don't let us check what is inside your bag. We will be very angry if you don't cooperate with us." A police shouted.
"Haiz. God bless me." I traced the source of the voice.
"Please believe him. He has nothing inside it." Hina also spoke up for him. Even though, she didn't know him, she still supported him.
"We just do our routine check. We won't take anything from you. Promise" Another police added and pulled the bag harder.
"No. I really don't have anything inside." The boy pulled the bag. His voice was very desperate as if he wanted to hide something.
His action only made the police more excited.
"Can you guys stop, please? I beg you." Hina said.
Due to the stubbornness of this runaway boy, they played tug of war with numbers.
1 < 2 -1.
The bag gradually leaned towards the adult side while Hina was trying her best to stop them.
"Calm down. Everyone. This is not an appropriate manner that police should behave." I interfered in their tug-of-war.
"Besides, you don't want this scene to be known widely, right." I tapped the camera on the phone which made their face go black.
"Miss. Please understand. We just do our job."
"Nope. I don't want to understand your situation. But I understand that this video will go viral."
"Miss. We don't want to have trouble" One of the police said. He looked very tired and scared of involving in trouble.
I understood their feelings. Police in this world had to work 16 hours each day since the crime rate in this world was ridiculously high. Too high that even Kira's effort didn't change the crime rate too much.
However, things would escalate into big trouble if I didn't pressure them.
I looked at the boy named Hodaka Morishima. Japan is a country that is very strict about the use of guns. Because this boy brought a gun I had to step in to help him. This helped me increase the image in Hina's eyes.
"If you don't want your face published on the internet, you should behave well." I gave them a very charming smile.
In return, they looked at me with shaking eyes like a little puppy.
"By the way, boy. If you don't want them to check your bag, you can let me do it for you. I can assure you that I don't harm you like them."
"No no. I don't want anyone to touch my bag." Hodaka Morishima protected his bag as if it were a treasure.
"Come on. You make things complicated." Hina also said to persuade him.
Even a gentle and kind girl like Hina couldn't change his opinion. He knew there was a gun in his bag.
If those police checked his bag and found it, he would spend his entire life in prison.
If he was lucky, he would be reprimanded and sent back to his hometown. But he didn't want to go back to that boring home.
"No. No. You don't understand. There is something that I don't want anyone to see."
I touched my clock. A needle shot out and stabbed his skin.
His eyes turned numb and slowly closed.
He collapsed to the ground heavily.
"You should have done this from the beginning." I opened his bag and searched for a gun in his bag. As soon as I found it, I threw it into my dimension pocket space.
Looking at his baby sleeping face, I wanted to tease him more as a payment for saving him from trouble.
"He he." I giggled at my masterpiece.
"So. Can we check it by ourselves?" Police said.
"Of course, police officers. This boy brought something very hot inside. You must be very careful." I gave the bag to the police officers.
When they accepted the bag and opened it, their face became a little hot when they saw the contents inside.
A police made a fake cough.
"We are very harsh to that boy. After all, he is still a teenager."
"I agree. Everyone has their little habit. We shouldn't judge that boy for that."
Hina's eyes shrank when she saw the object in the bag.
Her face immediately turned red like a tomato.
"He is lucky that I help him. If it were other, he wouldn't have a place to bury himself." I played with my fingers.
"Alright, Hina. I feel quite tired right now." I spoke to her.
"You have to go to school tomorrow so I will drive you home. You go and drag him to the entrance. I will pick you up there." I stood up and approached Megure.
"Megure. This case is out of my ability. With my shallow understanding, I can't crack this case. Allow me to leave first."
"I see. By the way, thank you for reminding me of those guys. We are now chasing after them on the expressway." Megure expressed his gratitude. It hadn't been my help that many of his colleagues would risk their lives here.
"It's my duty to help the police. No need to thank me, officer. But you are welcome."
"Hina. Carry that boy with us. We leave now." I shouted out loud.
"Yes, sensei." Hina tried to drag Hodaka's body.
"Should we just let them leave? The culprit still didn't get caught."A police asked.
"It's fine. The culprit is not human at this time." Megure answered with a pale face.
"What do you mean the culprit is not human?"
"It's literally like that. We have footage of how the victim died. Do you want to watch it? But let me remind you." Megure said and added "Once you watch it, you will remember for the rest of life."
This poor police didn't understand why Officer Megure said that. He just casually thought the murderer was too perverted.
Without waiting anymore, they walked to the record room.
"Show me that footage again," Megure said.
The operator nodded and played the video.
The video was played and the scene was in the manager's room.
The victim was still alive and was calling his boss to report the process of his job. It was normal until he looked at the mirror on the table.
The video suddenly flickered.
The manager stood up abruptly and stepped backward. His face was filled with fear and his body was shaking clearly in the camera.
His mouth kept crying out but they didn't know what he was saying.
Just as they thought they would capture killer Red Hand, the manager was suddenly lifted up in the air and hit the ceiling.
The manager hit the ceiling repeatedly.
Even though his head was deformed, his body still hit the ceiling.
As if the mysterious entity didn't feel satisfied, it started tearing the manager's body into many pieces.
Holding the upper body, it started dragging it around which painted the room with blood.
It dragged his remaining body around the room until his body didn't have anything left.
As a result, the room was full of the blood and organs of the victim.
"Wait. Wait. Hold on. This is not scientific."
"I know. I have the same reaction as you." Megure nodded and asked.
"Is video edited or tainted by a hacker?"
"No, sir. This is genuine. No sign of editing here."
"That's right. It's true and we should accept it." A voice rang out. It was Yuusaku Kudou who had just done his investigation.
"The fact that a ghost kills a manager is undeniable so I suggest you should find an exorcist" Yuusaku Kudou joked. But his joke didn't make anyone laugh.
"So you are telling me. Ghost is real. And it kills the manager. This is too outrageous." Megure asked.
"Yes. Sometimes, there are things that are out of our understanding. Instead of denying its existence, we should accept it."
Yuusaku Kudou stepped out of the door with a heavy expression. This was the first time he encountered supernatural events.
"Look like one of my worries has come true."
The more he knew, the more he felt the world was so big.
"Speaking of this, that lady is very suspicious but I don't know why" Yuusaku muttered.
His eyes were looking at the entrance of the restaurant.
He had a feeling that he met her somewhere but he couldn't remember.
"Never mind about that lady. I should focus on Kira instead." He took out his notebook.
The notebooks were filled with the theory. In the corner of his note, there was a sketch of Shinigami.
"It should be like this. So this is the reason why Death Note needs a name to kill." Yuusaku mumbled.
For the rest of the time, he wasn't idle. He was collecting information about Kira who owned a book that killed anyone with a name.
He was surprised and also terrified.
However, this fact only made him intoxicated.
No matter how outrageous the Death Note is, he understood that there was no absolute in the world. It must follow a certain rule.
And so, he tried to infer the rule based on the victim that Kira had killed.
"With this information, L won't be in a passive state when finding Kira anymore" He closed the book and took off his gloves.
