Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

I walked into Brandon's mansion, holding Kimberly and Kelvin by the hand as they followed beside me.

Kelvin had gotten so much better after taking his medication.

"Mommy, where's daddy!" My kids yipped beside me, overjoyed to see their father.

I had to stop myself from rolling my eyes as I walked deeper into Brandon's mansion.

"Kara, I'm glad you made it". Brandon said, as he climbed down the stairs. Within a blink of an eye my kids yanked my hand of theirs and pounced excitedly on their father.

"Daddy!"

Brandon carried his kids like they weighed nothing then he began walking towards me.

"Kara I don't know why you refused my offer to pick you up but I'm glad you made it".

"Daddy I have a lot of questions to ask you". Kelvin interrupted, pouting his thin lips at his father.

"But I'll ask you when mommy is asleep". Kelvin whispered, giggling.

Well, he's a very bad whisperer so I could easily make out what he said.

Brandon I hope you had nothing to do with my parents death. How would my kids feel if I separated them from their father again?

The vivid images of how Brandon's guard kicked me out of his mansion, how my mother died on my body and how I almost died during childbirth quickly played in my head. And I immediately snapped out of my thoughts. I cannot let Brandon's charm take control over me.

"Kimberly, Kelvin". I called my kids in a firm tone indicating for them to let go of their father.

Brandon walked towards me with my kids still cradled in his muscular arm. "Let me show you guys to your room".

"Wow!!

"Daddy is this my room?"Kimberly squiked, jumping excitedly.

Brandon was about to say something but Kelvin interrupted. "Daddy, daddy take me to my room please".

"Sure little man". Brandon giggled lightly then he showed Kelvin to his room.

Kelvin squealed excitedly as soon as he got to his room. A drop of tear rolled down my cheeks as I watched Kelvin jumping on his bed excitedly.

"You don't have to cry Kara". Brandon said in a soft voice and I quickly brushed the tears away from my eyes.

"Who said I was crying?" My voice was barely above a whisper.

Seeing Kelvin jump up on his feet made me very happy. It was a sign that he had gotten really healthy.

Suddenly he jumped down from his bed and began walking towards us. "Mom, Dad you guys should have a great time now". He said, smiling then he turned around and slammed the door on our faces.

"Our son is right". Brandon said. His face was a few inches away from mine, making me gulp nervously.

"Don't you think you are getting too comfortable?"

"Well, I have to make you fall in love with me within Ninety days".

I rolled my eyes not because of what he said but because my heart couldn't stop racing uncontrollably.

"I'll show you to your room Kara".

I followed Brandon behind as he led me to the room. At that moment I could only curse at myself because I couldn't stop admiring the man in front of me.

"Get a hold of yourself Kara". I mumbled to myself, shoving my hands through my hair.

"We are here". Brandon declared, pointing towards a massive brown door.

"Welcome to our bedroom". He welcomed me as he opened the door to a luxurious master bedroom.

My head finally processed what he had said and my brow furrowed in annoyance. "Our room?"

"We are legally married and it's only right for us to share a bed".

"Well, sorry to burst your bubbles but I cannot share a bed with you". I tried to act tough.

"Kara come on". He pouted and I almost lost my breath.

"For the sake of our kids".

"They wouldn't be happy if their mommy and daddy aren't on good terms".

What Brandon said made sense. Even though I tried to hate Brandon for years, I had never tarnished his reputation to my kids.

I always told my kids stories of how nice and handsome their father was and that me and Brandon got separated when we went out for a business trip.

"Fine". I muttered, already feeling defeated.

My mouth fell open when I saw a huge portrait of myself on the wall above the king-sized bed.

"Y-you still have this?" I asked Brandon as I pointed at the portrait.

"Yes. I couldn't get rid of it even when I tried to". He said, bowing his head in what I perceived as shame.

My heart skipped when I noticed Brandon was only a foot away from me. My gaze was fixed on his chest as Brandon was taller than me.

Brandon titled my chin forcing me to meet those familiar gaze that had never failed to get my knees weak.

"I wasn't myself Kara ''.

"I was losing my mind".

"I thought getting a divorce from you would be the best idea but I was only a fool for thinking of such".

"I couldn't breathe when you left. I tried to look for you everywhere".

"Now that I have found you, I wouldn't let any mistake tear us apart".

I jerked my back, rolling my eyes at him. But despite my boldness, I couldn't deny that his words had a deep effect on me.

Brandon held my slender waist and pulled me closer to him. My heart was beating rapidly against my ribcage and my hands grew sweaty.

"You are mine now and I'm going to make sure it remains that way". His breath fanned my neck, making me shudder uncontrollably.

Brandon noticed I was getting uncomfortable so he quickly let go of my waist "Let's go down stairs for dinner".

"I'll go get the kids". I replied shakily then I turned to leave.

I didn't realize that I had stopped breathing until I left Brandon's room. My chest rose and fell in a rhythmic pattern and beads of sweats formed on my forehead.

"Mummy".

"Yes dear". I turned to face Kimberly. We were already seated at the dining table. Kimberly and Kelvin sat beside Brandon as they cling to him like glue. While I sat at the opposite.

"I am happy mommy".

"I hope nothing takes away our happiness".

"Nothing can take away our happiness darling". Brandon assured Kimberly, patting her hair gently but I guess he spoke too soon.

"Mr. Brandon, someone is here to see you". A security guard announced as soon as he walked in.

"Let them in". Brandon ordered.

"Brandon!"

I almost choked on my food when I heard that familiar evil voice.

"Mara". I thought aloud as I stared at Mara in disgust.

I hadn't noticed that Mara walked in with someone until she knelt beside a little girl.

"Go meet your father Katie". Mara cheered.

A pang of jealousy hit me really hard and my gaze shifted from Mara then to the little girl running towards Brandon.

"Daddy". Katie yipped, outstretching her hands for a hug.

I turned to face Brandon and his face held a mixture of uncertainty and pain as he stared at the little girl in front of him.

"Brandon, Meet our daughter Katie". Mara finished.
