Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Brothers turn Against Each Other

"Help! Doctor, please help!"

Around noon, a young man rushes into the hospital lobby, holding his head in pain.

He grabs a nurse at the front desk, his eyes red, and with a twisted expression, he cries out, "My head hurts so much... I'm dying. Please, find a doctor for me..."

The calm nurse breaks free from his grasp, pointing to the registration area, saying, "Go register first, then go to the neurology department on the second floor for an examination."

Under her breath, she mutters with disdain, "Runs in faster than a rabbit, and with such strength. Does he look like a dying man? Probably just wants to take advantage of someone during their vulnerable moment. Humph, wishful thinking!"

In the disdainful gaze of the nurse, Zhang Hui runs to register.

After a night of nightmares, he wakes up with a splitting headache. That infuriating woman claims he stabbed himself, which is utter nonsense!

After angrily driving away the laughing woman, when he tries to get up to go to the hospital to treat his buttocks, his head hurts terribly. He can't get up and has to lie down again. The dreadful nightmare returns the moment he falls asleep!

Terrified, unable to break free from the heavy headache, he can't even open his eyes if he tries to wake up.

It's only close to noon when he manages to open his eyes, feeling mentally drained, and his head is throbbing so much he contemplates banging it against the wall to end the agony.

Fearful that he's seriously ill, he struggles to get up and rushes to the hospital to seek medical help.

"Go get an X-ray and examination first. Don't worry; your condition at your age shouldn't be too severe."

After explaining his symptoms to a doctor on the second floor, the doctor gives him a prescription, reassuring him with a smile.

Feeling a bit relieved, Zhang Hui, in pain, goes for the examination.

Half an hour later, the results are out. The doctor looks at the report, and his expression gradually becomes serious.

Zhang Hui's heart sinks, his voice trembling, "Doctor, w-what's wrong with me?"

The doctor looks up at him, sighs lightly, and says, "Quite severe. Some nerves in your brain have already severed, and others are on the verge of breaking."

The doctor furrows his brows, staring at him with a hint of confusion, "You claimed to have had no symptoms before last night. Medically speaking, that's impossible. Just one night, and your brain nerves look this horrendous. What happened to you?"

Zhang Hui, his face ashen, shivering, with a teary tone, asks, "Is there any hope?"

The doctor pondered for a moment and said, "It's hard to say. There's a high chance you could become a vegetable. Of course, if you experience nerve tension like last night again, it might happen immediately..."

The doctor stopped, unable to continue, shook his head, and handed him the report. He sighed, "Notify your family. Consider being admitted to the hospital as soon as possible for further evaluation."

Zhang Hui staggered a few steps, pale, clutching the wall for support. His lips quivered, and his eyes were filled with despair.

Suddenly, the nightmare from last night flashed in his mind, and the cold, cruel eyes of the young man were vividly present.

"I had no health issues before, perfectly fine. But because of last night's nightmare, I'm turning into an idiot, becoming a lifeless body... Yesterday, I did nothing. Just went to the school to help my cousin threaten that student... and that person from the nightmare was him."

"Is there really karma? Good deeds are rewarded, and evil deeds are punished? I bullied the weak and even had improper thoughts about that student's sister, so is this the payback?"

Trembling, Zhang Hui crouched in a corner of the corridor, his face full of fear and regret.

"No! I don't want to become an idiot! I'm still young. I don't want to be a living corpse!"

He stood up suddenly, as if finding a lifeline, crying as he ran out of the hospital.

...

For a student approaching the high school entrance exam, time is precious.

But for Cheng Hao now, time is agonizing.

The entire day, he eagerly waited for each class to end, anxiously wishing for school to finish quickly.

After every class, he would turn around, sneering at Yan Yuchen, his eyes filled with a gaze as if looking at a dead man.

"Kid, continue to act cocky. Wait until my cousin shows up after school. Let's see if you'll be scared out of your wits on the ground, wetting yourself!"

As the sun gradually set, Cheng Hao's expression became increasingly animated.

"Ding..."

In the evening, the school bell finally rang for the end of the day.

Cheng Hao grinned, almost jumping with excitement.

He swiftly packed his bag, turned around arrogantly to face Yan Yuchen, and loudly declared in front of the entire class, "Yan Yuchen, let's go. If you're a man, don't run! Even if you escape, there's still your sister! My cousin has stabbed people and been to jail. He's waiting for you at the school gate. If you dare to slip away, you'll face the consequences!"

The entire class turned their gaze toward Yan Yuchen, deliberately slowing down to witness the spectacle.

Hu Gua Gua, carrying a small backpack, cheerfully said, "Yan Frog, you're finally going to get a beating! Yes! Tonight is a day worth celebrating!"

Yan Yuchen walked out of the classroom with his backpack, seemingly oblivious to the surrounding attention.

Yuan Xiaofen caught up with him, expressing her concern, "Yan Yuchen, let's go find a teacher. Those people are afraid of Teacher Zhang."

Yan Yuchen smiled and replied nonchalantly, "It's okay, don't worry."

As he pushed his bicycle towards the school gate, Cheng Hao and a group of students caught up. Cheng Hao, filled with pride, shouted, "Yan Yuchen! Be honest. It's best not to run! Otherwise, my cousin will break your legs!"

With such a grand declaration in front of the entire class, Cheng Hao felt exhilarated, walking with his head held high, nearly reaching the sky.

The news of the imminent confrontation between the sickly student of Class 2 and the local youth had spread throughout the school. The school gate was already surrounded by spectators eager to witness the event.

As Yan Yuchen reached the school gate with his bicycle, all eyes focused on him.

Yan Xiaoxi hurried over, her face full of panic. "Brother, don't go out. Those bad guys are out there. Let's go find a teacher!"

"Find a teacher? Do you think it will help?"

Mocking, Cheng Hao, following behind, raised his chin and said, "Can teachers protect you all the time? Yan Yuchen, accept your fate. Even if I, the mighty lord, were here, I'd still make my cousin handle you until you beg for mercy!"

He then waved his hand toward Zhang Hui, not far away, and arrogantly ordered a few students beside him, "Keep an eye on him! If he tries to escape, my cousin will be furious. Can any of you handle that?"

Those students, already notorious troublemakers, quickly approached Yan Yuchen, eager to befriend the local youth. "Don't worry, we'll watch him. Even if he grows wings, he won't fly away!"

At that moment, Zhang Hui, surrounded by a group of youths, walked briskly toward them.

The students around immediately distanced themselves, their faces filled with pity as they looked at Yan Yuchen.

Cheng Hao, seeing his cousin's imposing arrival, burst into excited laughter. He patted Yan Yuchen's shoulder, saying, "Kid, kneel down voluntarily. Otherwise, when my cousin arrives, he might just kick your knees in!"

Yan Xiaoxi tightly held her brother's hand, her trembling body showing fear, yet she stood stubbornly in place, refusing to retreat.

At this moment, Yuan Xiaofen, accompanied by Zhang Hong, hurriedly ran out of the school, her face filled with anxiety and worry.

"Haha, cousin, you finally arrived."

In front of the surrounding students, Cheng Hao approached with satisfaction, then pointed at Yan Yuchen with resentment, saying, "Cousin, that damn bastard hit me again today. Quickly, go help me take revenge. Break his legs and make that little bastard kneel in front of me, kowtowing in front of the whole school!"

Zhang Hui approached Yan Yuchen, his face pale as he looked at him.

Yan Yuchen gave a faint smile, locking eyes with him, and said, "Did you hear that? Your cousin wants to break my legs and make me kneel, right in front of everyone."

Zhang Hui nodded, remained silent for a moment, then looked down and, with an ominous tone, said, "Kneel down, kowtow!"

Cheng Hao burst into laughter, approached Yan Yuchen, and arrogantly said, "Did you hear that? My cousin told you to kneel down and kowtow. Kid, don't delay. Do it now!"

Surrounded by students watching, Yan Yuchen, who seemed to have anticipated this, gazed at Cheng Hao and said, "Class monitor, it seems like your cousin got the wrong person. He's not talking about me, but about you."

Cheng Hao's smile froze, and he angrily said, "Even at this point, you dare to talk nonsense! Cousin, don't be polite with this idiot. Deal with him! Harshly!"

Surrounded by students, Yan Yuchen, with a compassionate look, observed Cheng Hao's triumphant demeanor. "Class monitor, it seems like your cousin isn't referring to me, but to you."

Cheng Hao's expression immediately stiffened, and he angrily retorted, "You're spouting nonsense even at death's door. Cousin, don't be polite. Deal with him. Harshly!"

Yan Yuchen stood there, still as a statue, while Zhang Hui, after a few seconds of silence, turned to Cheng Hao, pointing at the ground, and said, "Kneel down, kowtow! Give a hundred resounding kowtows to Brother Chen."

"What?"

The unexpected words left Cheng Hao in shock, and the surrounding students were equally dumbfounded, staring with disbelief.

"Brother... Brother Chen?"

Everyone was left agape, as if witnessing a miracle.

What's going on? Can someone explain? Did this troublemaker lose his mind? Not only did he refrain from beating the sickly student, but he also asked his cousin to kneel?

Cheng Hao, his mouth agape, stood there in stunned silence for a while, then stammered, "Cousin... Cousin, it's me, Cheng Hao, your cousin. Are you... Are you okay in the head?"

"Bang!"

Zhang Hui suddenly kicked him hard in the abdomen. With gritted teeth, red eyes, and a terrifying expression, he pointed at Cheng Hao, roaring furiously, "Is it your damned brain that's malfunctioning? You despicable animal! You almost killed me, do you know that? Damn it, if I don't leave you crippled today, I won't share the same surname as you!"

After shouting, Zhang Hui, with a roar like a hungry wolf, pounced on Cheng Hao, swinging his fist the size of a sandbag violently and mercilessly towards the completely bewildered Cheng Hao!

I'm on the verge of becoming a vegetable, and you dare to question whether my brain is functioning properly in front of me. You damn creature! Forget that you're just my cousin; even if you were my father, I'd still turn against you!

The students watching around had their eyes widened, shocked by this sudden and dramatic turn of events.

Yuan Xiaofen and the class teacher, who had rushed out of the school, stood frozen in place, their faces full of astonishment, completely unaware of what was happening.

Yan Xiaoxi, with her mouth agape, watched Cheng Hao being pummeled by his cousin, her eyes wide open in bewilderment. She pinched her brother's hand and asked, "Brother, can you explain what's happening?"

"No."

"Why?"

"Because I want you to die without understanding, to live in confusion!"

...

In the chaotic scene of Cheng Hao being beaten up, Zhang Hui seemed like a vengeful spirit, venting all his pent-up anger. The onlookers remained stunned, processing the unexpected events that unfolded before their eyes.
