Chapter 5 - Pajamas Party

There is a phenomenon of the spirit summoning game that has caused a stir on social media and has become a trending topic. This mystical game is called 'Charlie Charlie Challenge'. Even though this kind of game has actually been around for some time, the 'Charlie Charlie Challenge' is still widely played by people from various circles. This game using pencils is a traditional Mexican ritual where players (usually children) say 'spells' to 'contact' the spirit of a child named Charlie. To play the 'Charlie Charlie Challenge', two players are asked to take two pencils and a piece of white paper. The player must then balance two pencils in a crossed position in the center of the paper. The white paper had the words "yes" and "no" written on the four corners.

For the spirit summoning spell, the player must recite the phrase "Charlie, Charlie, are you here?", which means "Charlie, Charlie, are you here?" If the pencil placed on the paper suddenly moves to the word 'yes', then, according to the myth of this game, Charlie's spirit has come or is present to start answering the player's questions.

To end the game, players must say "Charlie, Charlie, can we stop?" or "Charlie, Charlie, can we stop?" Once the pencils move to the word 'yes', both players drop all the pencils on the floor to break contact with Charlie. If you don't do this, it is said that Charlie's spirit will still live around you and accompany you.

The evening after Gloria met Nielle and returned home. Gloria, Whitney, and Owen are having a 'Pajamas Party' in Gloria's yard. They have made this plan to fill their weekend which they consider boring. Even though their plan was to plant a tent in an old grave, Giovani forbade it and said that if they did that they would wake up in a coffin the next day. Like it or not, they just set up a tent and lit a campfire in the Wang family's yard. Actually this is not bad, they can eat sausages and grilled marshmallows or tell stories and play small games like truth or dare.

And now it's twelve o'clock at night, where people seem to have gone to sleep after being tired from the day's activities. Even Giovani had turned off the lights in his room but Gloria and the others were still awake and didn't feel sleepy at all. Even after staring at the tent ceiling for several minutes.

"You know, I think this is boring," said Gloria with a tired sigh. On his left was Owen who was close to the exit of the tent and on his right was Whitney with the three of them lying on their backs.

"Yes, this is beyond my expectations," replied Whitney.

"Hey, when you were sick yesterday was it really because you were scared of seeing ghosts?" Owen asked.

"That's true but some people make it sound hyperbolic. The doctor said I was just shocked by what I saw," replied Whitney.

"Can you see ghosts?!" Gloria asked.

"No, they appeared to me on purpose."

"How does its look? Handsome? Beautiful? Or ugly?" Owen asked.

"Enough to make you run until you pee your pants," Whitney replied.

"Did your mother seal the ghost in an urn?" Gloria asked.

"No Glo, it's not all about the urn. My mother made his inside a doll, and brought his home," replied Whitney.

"Is that ghost very strong?" Gloria asked.

"Yes, even he won't be able to reach eternal rest because his soul is too dark and dirty."

"Aren't you afraid? She's even that scary!" Owen said.

"At first, yes, but because I saw my mother I calmed down. She was a female ghost, who was violent and killed after being abused. The ghost didn't even remember why she became a curious spirit, maybe because it had been too long since her death. She only had the ambition to kill and it's really scary when you think about it, but Gloria said the ghost blinked and smiled at her yesterday," explained Whitney.

Everyone fell silent and things became quiet. They were lost in their own thoughts.

"Wait! So the doll seals the spirit you mentioned?!"

"That's right, Glo, but it's okay. She's in a glass cupboard now, locked very tightly. My mother even added a few seals after you screamed that loud," replied Whitney.

"So the doll really blinks and smiles?!" Owen asked.

"I don't know, but Gloria said that. You could have seen it wrong, Gloria is stupid."

"Hey, are you making fun of me?! You damn quack," replied Gloria.

"It's called Ghost Hunter, bitch."

"Shut your mouths, let's play a game."

"What is that game?" Gloria asked Owen.

"Yes, what game? If you say 'Truth or Dare', I'm sorry but I'd rather sleep," replied Whitney.

"What about monopoil? Gio said it was suitable for me to play," suggested Gloria.

"Yes, it's suitable, so you can use your brain to make it less dusty," replied Whitney.

"Okay, remind me to put lots of salt on your sandwiches tomorrow," Gloria replied.

"It's okay, everything I eat will taste better if I pay attention to Giovani," replied Whitney.

"Damn it. I almost threw up my stomach when I heard that," Gloria replied.

"Well at least-"

"Hey guys stop it! Let's play 'Charlie Charlie Challenge'!" said Owen interrupting Whitney and Gloria's fight.

A crazy idea crossed Owen's mind and now they were carrying out that crazy idea. The game proposed by Owen is actually very dangerous. Many cases of possession have occurred because of this. Forget it, because now they are ready with all the equipment for the game. Now Whitney and Owen are holding hands, on Gloria's lap is placed the paper that will be the answer from Charlie's spirit.

"Charlie, Charlie, are you here?"

No movement.

"Charlie, Charlie, are you here?"

No movement.

"Charlie, Charlie, are you here?"

Still silent.

"It seems this game is fake?" Whitney said.

"Yeah, apparently, this is getting boring," Owen replied.

"Hoamm, okay guys. I'm sleepy, let's stop this and let's sleep," replied Gloria while yawning and pulling the blanket over her.

"Okay."

Owen pushed the equipment off of Gloria's body, now useless. It's better for him to sleep, good night everyone, I hope you have sweet dreams.

"Glo, close the tent door. It's too cold now," said Owen and then went to sleep.

There was no answer from Gloria, but the tent zipper slowly closed. They fell asleep soundly under Gloria's thick blanket. Forgetting about the eerie silence of the night and a pencil that spins by itself.

'Yes'

Bang!

A book fell from Giovani's shelf. This wasn't the first time, but he was used to this kind of thing. Giovani woke up and stared lazily at the figure in front of him.

"What is it?!" asked Giovani.

"Your sister is doing something again."

"What this time?!" Giovani asked seriously.

"She summoned ghosts."

"What?!" Giovani approached the window in his room where he could see the yard where Gloria and her friends' tent was.

Brakk!

But before he could see Gloria, something stuck in front of the glass and stared at Giovani. A small child with a pale face and black eyes. Smiling at Giovani with a mouth that was bleeding.

Charlie.
