The game ended with The Montreal Sharks earning a slim win by winning by 135:129. Karla skipped out of the stadium, while I strolled out casually.
"You know the Fledglings almost killed them right?" Mike asked Carl who frowned.
"But they won in the end! That's the most important thing." Karla got in between the two men.
"Who wants to go watch a movie?"
"I'm in. But you're not choosing what we're watching this time sis." She rolled her eyes.
"Fine, we'll let Emily choose." I stared at them slightly confused. I was not really listening to them.
"What movie shall we watch Emily? It's all up to you."
"I-well.."
"It's not four yet. We can still have a quick stop at the theatre and head back." Shawn said. I looked at him with wide eyes. The others thought he was just speaking casually, but I knew that he was referring to me.
"Yeah. Come on, senorita chose. Romance..." He said with a slightly disgusted face. I rolled my eyes at him.
"Or action packed, or comedy." A part of me really wanted to make Carl suffer. It was obvious that he hated romance. Karla seems to really like them, as do I. And Mike, Kevin and Shawn probably wouldn't mind.
"Let's go with the first."
"Yes!! Now let's go!" Karla pulled me away and we headed to the theatre by foot. It wasn't that much of a journey.
We bought our tickets, which Kevin gladly paid for and had our seats. After about fifteen minutes into the movie, I couldn't help to check on the time. The movie was only going to be for an hour, so I should make it.
"You're nervous. Didn't think you'd like these types of things" Shawn uttered. We were sitting behind the others. My eyes widened when I realised what he meant.
"I'm not nervous because of that." I whispered. It was an R-rated movie and this scene showed a bdsm couple who were very immersed in their activity. Shawn gave me a smug grin.
"So none of this is affecting you even a little?" He whispered against my ear. My body shivered as his hot breath whipped past my ear.
"No." I looked towards his side. He hummed slightly.
"Then why are you so on the edge then?"
"Because I just want to head home."
"And miss this amazing movie? No way." He said with a laugh. He then asked.
"So if you're not into bdsm, what are you into then?" I looked back at the huge television screen, my cheeks turning into pure red. 'What is wrong with him?!'
"You don't need to be shy about what your body desires, Emily. It's quite natural."
"I never knew you were a pervert."
"Now you know Miss Hernandez. Does that intrigue or disgust you?"
"A little of both." I couldn't believe I was talking so freely about this type of topic with Shawn. But it went quite naturally with him. I couldn't even talk about this with Courtney so freely.
"Kevin! What the hell!" Karla exclaimed.
"What?"
"You finished all the popcorn!" Kevin shrugged.
"It's meant to be eaten, right?" I glared at the two who were arguing while the movie was still on.
"Guys can you keep it down?" I asked of them politely. Karla sighed and Kevin just smirked. I gave my popcorn to Karla.
"Thanks Emily." She said before sending a heart stopping glare to Kevin.
"Why did your parents even put you on curfew?" I stretched my legs slightly.
"New environment, crazy sudden deaths. It just made them a bit more overprotective."
"You're talking about the bodies appearing?"
"Bodies? They're more!" My voice went a bit higher than I intended.
"Yeah." I noticed his forehead crease just a little.
"And the police haven't caught them till now? So we're supposed to be living on the edge everyday."
"Trust me if the police had a way of solving this they would."
"So what, it's above their power?" Shawn gave me a long look. There was something swimming behind his eyes.
"Looks like it." I grumbled slightly.
"More reasons why I hate this place."
"Oh come on new blood, don't judge a book by its cover. It's too soon to start hating our beautiful city."
"I know. But I was never thrilled to come here."
Shawn stared at me for a long time, as if trying to reach my soul. Then, he grabbed my hand. My body stiffened at the contact.
"Are your fingers equal?" He asked. I gave him a 'are you crazy' look
"Of course they aren't. All fingers aren't equal." I said. He then nodded. He scraped his nail against my hand and my body trembled.
"But they do their jobs very well, don't they?" He asked as he inspected my hand. I seriously did not know where he was heading with this.
"Yes, they do."
"Then don't look at how they seem, but look at what they do. The environment might be in a tense situation, but they do give you a roof over your head and places to go to and have fun. Don't dwell on the small issues."
"That is completely different."
"It's not new blood." He then clasped his hands with mine. I gulped at this. I have held a man's hand before, well apart from my dad. But this was different than that other person. A weird feeling coursed through my body. His palm was soft and warm and I could see the clear difference between our clasped hands.
I just gazed at him, wondering what was going through his head. He also stared at me. For a moment, I got lost in his eyes. A hazel like colour that was very clear. I forgot where I was. All I could focus on was my reflection in his ethereal looking eyes.
"Someone seems lost." That was when I realised that our hands weren't Interlaced anymore. I looked away, as I tried to calm my heart.
'Why is he hell bent on making me nervous.' After a torturous long time, the movie ended and I almost jumped off my seat.
I hugged Karla bye and waved the guy goodbye and entered Shawn's car which he parked at the stadium and we drove off.
On our way to my house, I suddenly felt a cold chill run down my spine. The hair on my hand rose, goosebumps covering it. Something felt so eerie. It was scary, extremely scary.
"Shawn." I muttered. He glanced towards me.
"Yeah." As he turned to see what I wanted, a figure jumped in front of us! I screamed in horror. Shawn couldn't avoid colliding with the person and the car sent the person flying. I jerked forward as the car halted abruptly, but my seatbelt prevented me from thrashing around.
'Oh no! Oh no! Oh no!'
"Fuck." Shawn muttered. "Are you alright?"
"Y-yes, we…" Shawn immediately got out of the car. I pulled on my seatbelt and also got out. I saw a body a few metres away from us. I could tell it was a woman because of the hair.
"Emily stay back." Shawn warned. His voice was cold and threatening. But I couldn't help but move towards the body.
And there I saw it. A woman whose face was partially charred. Blood surrounded her but I didn't know if it was because we had hit her or she was already bleeding. She had some weird blue markings on her body.
How did she even get in front of us? She already seemed dead.
"It's the same pattern." I muttered. Shawn stared at the body. I couldn't tell what was going through his mind right now.
"Emily, get into the car."
"But…"
"Emily!" His voice wasn't loud, but it was so menacing and scary that I bolted for the car and shut the door. My hands were trembling. This memory was forever going to stick in my brain.
'I should I've just stayed home. I just witnessed a murder!'
