Chereads / Become a Queer Witch / Chapter 6 - Deep Thought (3)

Chapter 6 - Deep Thought (3)

I can actually become a fortune teller with my current abilities. Attracting customers from all walks of life. If caught by the Patrol Guards, all I have to do is change my face.

I could also apply for a job as a Tutor or professor at an academy, with my knowledge from modern earth.

Nonetheless, this was not the world of a novel written by a novelist. Just like novels that have Tags; Academy, Munchkin, Obsession or Regret.

People who write about such novels do not understand how difficult it is to be a professor in the real world.

People who teach at the academy don't become professors right away and only join as associate professors. You have to fulfill the required points to become a professor such as the number of publications, patents etc.

Even becoming a teacher in an academy is very difficult, starting from a bachelor's degree, continuing to a master's degree, and a doctorate. Many top universities in the world want experienced lecturers, so many take post-doctoral programs to increase the chances. Even after going through all that, you may not necessarily get a job at a university.

There may be some people who think that if you can teach well, you can become a professor.

But in reality, you need credentials, not just the skills to teach in order to become a teacher (actually as long as you have the credentials and pass the necessary requirements to apply, you can become a teacher even if you stop teaching).

Even engineers or accountants need credentials related to teaching in order to apply to be a professor even if you have connections that will help you.

All in all, in reality, being a professor is difficult.

I can't risk my true identity as a Witch, and my life.

Moreover, this is a world that adheres to the caste system and one's social status.

Nobles and commoners.

A difference that was too great.

In this strange world, we don't know there are many unknown variables. For that I need a job that is safe and not risky.

Lost in deep thought, I unknowingly bumped into someone.

"Ugh..."

Pain radiating in certain parts of my body, I rubbed my shoulders while frowning.

"So-sorry....!"

Turning around to look at the culprit who bumped into me, my vision revealed a boy in his teens with a fairly tall build. Wearing shabby clothes and a brown hat slightly covering his eyes, the boy bowed while apologizing to me, before turning around.

I spontaneously pulled the boy's hand with a serious expression looking at him.

"Give it back."

"Huh?"

"Give back what you took."

Whether he realized what I meant or not, the boy stammered as he replied,

"I-I don't know what you mean..."

My eyes glanced at the protruding brown pants pocket.

Following my gaze, the boy wore a sad and resigned expression, before reaching into his pants pocket and holding out a wallet to me.

"Thank you..." I said as I snatched my wallet from the boy's hand.

Making sure the contents of the wallet were intact, I looked back at the boy.

The boy had dusky brown hair and pure brown eyes. Soon a voice pierced my ears,

"I'm sorry, Miss. I didn't mean to steal-"

"I know."

Before the boy could finish his sentence, I cut him off.

"Yes?"

Amidst the confusion the boy was in, I waved my hand as if I understood the situation the boy was in.

"You didn't mean to steal intentionally, right? You stole because you had to?"

"..."

Confirming the silence as a sign that my guess was correct, I crossed my arms and looked at the boy.

"So, how can I help you?"

Instead of answering, the boy just stared blankly as if looking at a strange woman.

... ... ...

"What's here?"

Stopping my steps for a moment, I looked at the bar that was currently written 'Closed' on the wooden board near the glass.

"There's no way that boy is lying to me, right?"

Having decided to help the boy, no, Lloyd and his little sister. I decided to ask about job openings around here. I idly asked, is there a bar here?

However, it was surprising that there was a bar in this town. I was thinking they needed more workers, and my experience on earth might help without having to utilize the abilities I have.

Before entering the bar, I took out a bronze coin from my pocket and using the 'Goddess of Fortuna' ability to gauge the level of danger, I threw the coin that had a double-sided crest of a head and a nominal.

Surprisingly, the coin fell and did not show the head of a prominent figure or a nominal, but stood in the middle. It showed the revelation of spiritual intelligence.

.... What does this mean? Is this place somewhere between dangerous and not dangerous? Then, what was dangerous about this bar?

I wondered about the factor of the source of danger coming from the bar.

Swayed by the sudden choice, I had a hard time whether to go in or not.

"There's no way I should quit this far out. Circumstances forced me to find a job... For me and for Ariel."

Saying so, I entered the bar and took a quick look around before finally hearing a soft female voice.

"Oh~ there's a guest visiting in the morning...."

When I looked up to see the source of the voice, a blonde-haired and violet-eyed woman staring at me in a shoulder-baring dress, the blonde-haired woman was holding a cigar and sitting on a chair while looking at me.

A few seconds of silence passed, for some reason the blonde woman who had been smiling in her eyes, gradually looked sharply at me,

"By the way, Guest. Can you take off that leather you're wearing?"
