Chapter 12 - chapter 12

It happened almost too fast for Laiten to see. There was a loud bang catching him off-guard as he pulled himself from the rubble that was his apartment. When he finally managed to look up, he was met with the sight of Draken standing proudly 8 feet before him. The Fae's hand lay on the floor, and the Fae released a loud shriek of annoyance.

"you insolent Titan, how did you get out of my dungeon" she said her voice seeping with both surprise and annoyance"

"I follow only the orders of my master," replied Draken, a cold expression gracing his features as he stood strong, shielding Laiten from the titan. Laiten stared at the scene tired and fascinated. Did his calling Draken just make him appear? Or was it the order? He didn't have the time to ponder it as he quickly grabbed Killian from the floor, taking him out of the range of battle.

"you samurai always know how to crash my parties, don't you? It's irritating," she says as whips of blood leave her dress slashing aggressively at Draken who skillfully deflected them delivering attacks of his own. Meanwhile, Laiten pulled Killian's unconscious body away from the wide-ranged flurries of blades and whips as the fight faded in a blurry mess of slashes and moving figures. It took a while before Draken landed a strike to the Fae's chest giving a harsh slash right across her being, the attacks paused from her end as she coughed up a string of blood stumbling back.

"How dare you....how dare you lay your filthy weapon on me!" she says furiously readying another attack but Draken didn't wait as he delivered a second slash across her chest in swift movements he had her unable to heal fast enough as he continued the array of attacks on her.

"This.....preposterous," she said as she collapsed on the floors vanishing into mist and smoke, Laiten looked around wide-eyed.

"what- what happened, where did she go?" Laiten asked shakily as he looked around. Draken turned to him getting on one knee to look him in the eye.

"you must forgive me for this master"

"forgive you?...for what?" Draken stood up and with a swift movement slashed Laitens chest.

With a loud gasp, Laiten got up coughing and shaking.

"Master, master you're awake" he looks to the side seeing Draken standing there.

"what happened...where's Killian, a-and the fae lady? Was it a dream or something?" a says in a slightly panicked tone.

"It wasn't really a dream, master," replies Draken as he watches Laiten rise from his bed.

"what do you mean? It wasn't a dream?....where is she...the-the Fae"

"Esmerelda" Draken says

"so...it was real? I don't understand" says Laiten running his fingers through his hair.

"She put you in her domain in your sleep... the day hasn't changed even though you have gone through two days already...it was an illusioned Domain" explains Draken.

"...so my Granddad...he wasn't real" Laiten mutters his eyes filled with a mix of emotions including hurt, longing, and grief.

"I'm sorry Master," says Draken.

Laiten didn't bother going to school that day. He stayed in his room, replaying the situation over and over in his head. For a moment—for a short little moment—he felt like he had his little family back. He felt quite broken and annoyed. Of all the illusions that could have been used, it had to be the one thing that gave him hope.

"Master," says Draken through the closed door.

"What?" asks Laiten not bothering to get off his bed

"You haven't had anything to eat or drink all day," says Draken his deep voice laced with only slight concern. too little to be noticeable

"I'm fine" Laiten mutters not getting off his bed his mind continuously replaying the events of the day

"Master you'll be weak if you continue in this fashion, besides, thinking on an empty stomach is very unhealthy for your body"

"I said I'm fine" replies Laiten sharply cutting Draken off. Silence engulfed them before Laitens door was opened and Draken stepped in grabbing the boy off his bed.

"Hey! What the hell?! put me down right now!" Laiten says struggling against the Titan twice his size as he's thrown over

darkens broad shoulders and is taken downstairs.

"I must ensure your safety, that includes preventing you from starving yourself" replies Draken, he was not budging even a little bit.

"you can't force me to eat now put me down you big bully," says Laiten folding his arms defiantly as he's put down in front of the kitchen.

"Unfortunately I have no knowledge of human dishes so I can't cook for you but I will ensure you cook nonetheless," says Draken standing tall before Laiten's smaller frame effectively blocking the only route back to the confines of his bedroom. Laiten releases an annoyed huff begrudgingly going into the kitchen looking through the refrigerator taking out a few ingredients and preparing a decent meal before sitting to eat all under the watchful eyes of Draken.

'Jeez is he not tired of watching me? It's getting uncomfortable...well, I was hungry though so I guess this isn't all bad, speaking of which, I should probably look for a part-time job already, I've been living off Killian's parents and the expenses Granddad left for me....Granddad Laiten's thoughts come to a halt as he meets Drakens eyes again before quietly finishing his food and washing the dishes and pots he used.

'Suddenly it hurts thinking about Granddad, I mean it hurt before but now it just sucks, it was as if he was just here and left again,... stupid Faes won't stop meddling with my life huh? oOfall the memories it had to be that particular one? Tch well that's just nice isn't it

"Master?" Laiten jumps as Drakens voice brings him out of his train of thought"

"what?" replies Laiten

"you seem to have a serious habit, overthinking isn't a good thing"

"w-who said I was over thinking huh?" says Laiten quickly looking back at the plates he was washing

"I can see the gears running in your head"

"well stop seeing them, hmph" he huffs finishing up and going right back to his bedroom.
