Bronx gave her brother a tight hug, and soon, she would be wishing him farewell.

Bronx finally picked up the last of her suitcases and looked around the airport. She pulled her suitcase and walked up to a window. Bronx smiled. For the first time in a long time, she felt safe. Even though her arms hurt from pulling her suitcases all day, she was still happy. The skies were a beautiful shade of blue and the grasses looked painted on with the perfect forest green. A beautiful silver fountain was spewing water, and small red and blue birds started to gather around the fountain to drink the water coming from it. They sang a cute song and flew away. The whole scene looked like it had been created by Da Vinci himself, and Bronx definitely had a new outlook on life.
A few minutes had gone by with Bronx smiling to herself until she remembered that her friend was supposed to pick her up from the airport.
Oh my gosh, where is this girl? Bronx thought. Lemme call her.
Bronx took her phone out from a small pink purse in her lap and called her friend. After a few seconds, her friend picked up.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Zakeiyah; where are you?" Bronx said to her phone. "I've been waiting near the suitcase place for like, ten minutes now."
"For real?" Zakeiyah replied. "I didn't even know, sorry, girl. I thought you were supposed to be looking for me, and I've been outside the airport this whole time."
Bronx rolled her eyes. "You should've told me then. Anyway, I'm on the first floor where everyone takes their suitcases."
"Okay, just wait like... five minutes, I'll be there."
"Alright, thanks so much, Zakeiyah."
"No problem, you know I got you, girl! I'm gonna hang up now, talk to you later."
"Alright."
The call ended as Bronx sighed. She noticed that the battery life on her phone was 5%, so she turned her phone off and placed it inside her purse. Bronx yawned as she rested her face in her hands and thought of absolutely nothing.
"Hey, are you straight?" A voice said to Bronx.
With her face still in her hands, she sarcastically replied, "No, I'm gay, and you can't get my number."
"Um, I meant like, 'Are you okay.'"
Bronx lifted her head from her hands and looked up at the voice. It belonged to a good-looking young man who looked about the age of twenty. One look into his gorgeous gray eyes made her sit up and smile.
"Oh, I knew that, I was just joking! I am okay, I'm not gay, and you can definitely get my number!"
The young man grinned and laughed softly. "Yeah, I'll get your number, why not?"
He took his phone from his pocket and opened his "Phone" app. "Here, put your number in," he said, handing his phone to Bronx.
She took his phone and entered her phone number. "That's it!" Bronx smiled as she gave the phone back to the man. "Wait, what's your name?"
"Oh, my name's Jyair Smith," Jyair answered as he held his hand out.
Bronx shook it and smiled. "Hi, Jyair, I'm Bronx."
"That's a beautiful name," Jyair stated as Bronx blushed and smiled.
"Thank you," she replied.
Jyair glanced at his watch. "Damn, I have to go catch my cab now, but I'll talk to you later."
"Okay, bye! Have a safe drive."
"Alright, see you." Jyair waved and turned around to walk to the exit of the airport.
"You better call me!" Bronx called out. She smiled to herself and decided to make one more call.
After a few seconds, the call started.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Ravon!"
"Oh, hey, Bronx; how are you?"
"I'm great! I'm so happy right now, so far Ziron is great! It looks so calming, like the opposite of Sunhaven. I feel so much safer."
"Aww, I'm happy for you, sis. I'm glad you feel safe now."
"Thank you! Also, I got a boy's number! He is 𝘴𝘰 fine!"
Ravon frowned. "You haven't even been in Ziron for a day and you already have a boyfriend?"
"He's just a friend... for now! He seems so nice and kind, and I can't wait for him to call me later!"
"How did you meet him?"
"I was just sitting here, and I guess I looked kinda sad because he came up to me and asked if I was okay, and I said yes. See how sweet he is? He asked for my number after our interaction and I put it in his phone and now I'm just waiting for him to call me soon."
Bronx could hear Ravon exhale deeply from his nose, which was never a good thing. "Do you not remember what happened last time?"
"Ravon, I'm trying to forget about Sunhaven. That life is behind me now."
"You sound fucking stupid! You should always take what you learn everywhere with you!"
"Yeah, but Ziron is the complete opposite of Sunhaven, and I can assure you that I won't have to be cautious with the people I meet here. I'll be living in the suburbs and be safer than ever."
"No, you won't," Ravon argued. "You can't just expect that you'll be safe because you're living in Ziron. And plus, you can't forget about what happened to you in Sunhaven. I would expect you to have PTSD and never trust another random boy again 'cause of what happened, but clearly, you're still acting dumb."
"I'm not acting dumb!"
"Obviously, 'cause you don't need to act. You 𝘢𝘳𝘦 dumb-"
Suddenly, Bronx's phone died.
Did this bitch just hang up on me?! Ravon thought. He tried to call back but the call immediately went to voicemail. This bitch really just hung up on me.
Fuck! Bronx thought. Ravon really just got the last word of the call! I wish I could call him back to tell him how much of a pussy punk BITCH he is!
She sighed and looked out the window to calm her down. This time, she saw rats running across the grass which reminded her of Sunhaven just in the slightest, but she didn't care too much. Ziron was still the perfect place for her.
"Hey! Bronx!"
Oh, that sounds like Zakeiyah! Finally! Bronx thought.
She scanned her surroundings for Zakeiyah and found her friend right in front her.
"Oh! Zakeiyah! Hey! How are you?"
"I'm doing great, thanks for asking. What about you?"
"Um, fine," Bronx muttered.
"That means you're, like, okay, right? 'Cause some people lie when they're asked if they're okay and-"
"No, it's okay, I'm doing great, actually," Bronx smiled. She stood up from her seat. "Time to go?"
Zakeiyah nodded. "Let's go."
Bronx started to pull at her suitcases and as soon as she did, she remembered how annoying it was to pull both her suitcases, as well as her sore arms.
"Wait, can you help me carry one of my suitcases?"
"Of course, let me get one."
Bronx grinned. "Thank you."
Zakeiyah took a suitcase and Bronx felt so much better. Soon enough, the pair was at the exit of the airport.
"My car is that red one over there," Zakeiyah told Bronx.
Bronx smiled at an expensive-looking car and started to walk toward it.
"Ooh!"
She and Zakeiyah's distance grew longer and longer until Zakeiyah called out to Bronx.
"Wait, where are you going?"
Bronx stopped walking and turned to face Zakeiyah. "Uh, to your car?" she yelled back.
"Girl, my car is right here," Zakeiyah replied.
Bronx's heart sank when she saw her friend gesturing to a beat up, chintzy car, and Zakeiyah could feel her disappointment even from ten feet away.
She laughed. "Oh my gosh, Bronx. Did you really expect me to have a nice car? I must look bougie or somethin'."
Bronx exhaled deeply from her nose and trudged over to Zakeiyah.
"I thought you would have a nice car because, well, you live in Ziron."
Zakeiyah laughed some more. "Girl, I don't know anyone in my neighborhood who has a nice car."
"Um, for real?"
"You know if it was 'for fake' I wouldn't have even told you."
Bronx frowned while Zakeiyah opened her car door. They both set the suitcases inside of the car and hopped inside, and a tiny part of Bronx felt as if this whole thing was a mistake.
