A blank room, like a sheet of white paper. It was bright, it burned the eyes, at least until they finally got used to it. That room was the beginning of everything. I remember it faintly, that neverending room of white. We couldn't tell the end to the beginning, whether it had walls or even a roof. I remember feeling the ground against my bare feet, yet when I looked down, not even my shadow was cast.
That plane of existence was where it all began for us, us who were humans, being taken from our lives, our worlds, to be the objects of amusement to a god, a true god. I can not speak for all of the dozens of other people who were trapped there with me, but I am glad I was chosen.
I remember my thoughts that day. 'Where am I? What's happening?'
We only had a few moments to collect ourselves.
"Wh! Where am I?!" A shrill voice screamed out. It was one of the girls who began to panic. She covered her exposed chest with her arms, but it's not as if there was much to see. The rest began to realize, and it was clear from the very beginning, that no one knew where we were.
While everyone else was panicking and breaking down, I was strangely calm. I backed away, and it was then that a voice overcame everyone. It was loud, spoken as if it were over the shoulders, directly against the ear, yet coming from all around.
"Humans!!" It said. "Welcome! To begin, you have all indeed been kidnapped!"Â Anyone else who tried to speak would find their voices were taken from them. "I, am god! A god! Your god!! And I have chosen you all out of all of the humans of your world, to compete for my entertainment. The rules are very simple, and I will only say this once. You will all be placed in a world of my making to become gods yourselves! The world will be completely new, consisting of humans of your own seeds and eggs. The rules are very simple. You will be given a hundred years to establish followers to your... Pantheon. Your abilities are for you to conjure, but know that your power will be limited by own your capability. Your enemies are all around you. You will establish yourselves as a deity to the mortals of this world. The more worshippers you have, the greater your power becomes. If you are killed by another god, they absorb your power. After a hundred years, if you either have no worshippers, or they all perish, your life is forfeit. If you are the last to survive, then you will be granted a wish!! A wish that can be anything. Anything at all. You will also be allowed to return to your world, taking with you the thing you wished for."
I remember my heart pounding in my chest. It could have been fear, excitement, both.
"Now then, humans. Entertain me."
And with those words, we were cast out of that plane of existence, thrown to the newly made world to fall to the sky. I remember I wailed and screamed, eventually landing on the earth only to find that I was perfectly fine.
I learned quickly that I was indeed a god, or at least, at that point I was superhuman. Seeing how the others reacted in the brief time I'd seen them, I thought they would be having a much harder time settling in their own skin- that I was fairly calm for everything that had happened. I read a lot of comics, books, watched a lot of shows and movies, so I was brimming with ideas. At first, I immediately began to research my own body.
I wasn't too tall. I had dark hair and eyes, was pretty average I'd say. My body was still scrawny, since I didn't hit the gym too often. Still, it was very noticeable, even aside the fact that I survived crashing onto the earth from the sky. My body was stronger, more durable. I was brimming with energy and my body was as light as a feather.
I fell into a forest, so in order to test my strength, I hit the closest thing, a tree. I felled it in a single hit and sustained no damage to my own fist. I then ran.
The forest was like a maze of obstacles, but I found my reaction time and senses were peak, able to maneuver past every tree in my way. It was adrenaline-pumping at first, but I eventually came to realize just how dire my situation was.
I wandered around that fucking forest for days, continuing to study my capabilities. I found that my stamina was seemingly neverending, but that wasn't the case. My body, my strength, my speed, my hunger and thirst, they all had limits. Truly, I was superhuman, but still human. I found a lake, the first source of water in a long time, but I refused to drink from it at first. It disgusted me. The taste of grime and filth that contaminated the water. It was then that I met my very first friend. It was a deer that I named Deer. Strange thing about my godlike presence, low intelligence animals found attractive, maybe calming, since it wasn't afraid of me. I quickly learned I could command it to do things, and as long as it wasn't too difficult to understand, it would do as told.
"Follow me." I told it, simply for the sole reason of it becoming my pet.
Deer followed me around for days after that. The only source of companionship I had in that time.
During that time, I learned more about my senses, my sight, hearing, eventually unlocking my divine sense that allowed me to hear and see across vast distances. That was what led me to find a bird to confirm what I was seeing. It had red feathers when I focused on it, and when I eventually found it, it had red feathers. Seeing it then fly off made me think I could fly. That took some time trying to unlock, as I couldn't seem to do it at first. But then, I put it together.
'I can feel the air moving across my arms when I try to fly. Maybe... It's more like swimming in the air.'
I was eventually able to get the hang of it, flying above the tree tops, able to get a view of the world from above. I saw a mountain in the distance and decided I'd go there. I got half way before I had to turn back to go get Deer. I then flew to the mountain with Deer in my arms.
From that mountain, I began to realize my situation. I would become depressed and fearful for the future. No one was around. I was thirsty, hungry, I remember wanting to sleep, but without the comfort of a bed, it was much too infuriating to try.
The clouds then began to roll over in the distance and it was beginning to rain. Knowing I couldn't waste the chance, I took some stones and tried to make bowls to collect the rain in. Most of them broke in half. Eventually, I sat with Deer in a cave, waiting for the crappy bowls of stone I made to fill up.
I began to contemplate life going forward in that cave. I realized that I didn't know my name, realized I couldn't remember the faces of my family from my life before that. The country I lived in, the language I spoke, I couldn't remember any of it. I realized quickly why that was; how the god that kidnapped me wiped my mind of that knowledge for the purpose of the game.
Life was truly lonely, but when I eventually came across another human, it didn't get any better.
Deer was killed by one of them, a hunter, of a nearby village. The man was no better than a wild animal, a primitive beast who had only evolved enough to be able to put a stick and a sharp stone together to make a spear. I killed him, shattering his skull with my fist. The brain matter, the blood, bones, eyes, flesh, they coated my bear fist, yet it didn't phase me.
Eventually, three more hunters found me with the body. They attacked me, broke their primitive spear against my shoulder, then ran off in fear. Using my divine sense, I saw where they were going and got there first.
As I descended from the sky upon that village, those primitive humans knelt down in fear of the unknown. That village was the beginning of my legend.
