Chapter 135: Human Hunting
One of the most disgusting things some nobles did to commoners and those weaker than them was their complete disregard for human life.
Even in human history, there are records of such cruelty. For example, in Japan, there was a term called Tsujigiri, where some samurai, after acquiring a new katana or developing a new sword technique, would hunt down innocent passersby. They did this just to test the sharpness of the blade or the effectiveness of their technique on another human being.
During the medieval age, some nobles even invented a cruel game called human hunting. They would release a few children and hunt them down one by one.
These horrific events were real, which is why many manga attempt to recreate these scenes in their stories. They want modern audiences to understand the atrocities these psychopaths committed in the past.
Now, even in the Shinobi Era, such acts are an open secret among noblemen. The worst offender is a noble named Karasuki, who takes pleasure in hunting humans. He captures a few children, releases them into the mountains, and, along with his soldiers, hunts them down one by one until all the poor children die by his arrows.
Setsuna became aware of this after hearing about the disappearance of children. He had been gathering beggars and the poor from around the world, giving them education and new jobs. Because of his efforts, there were no more beggars on the streets. So, the noblemen resorted to kidnapping young children to satisfy their twisted desires.
---Nobleman POV---
It had been a year since the last human hunting, and Karasuki was eager to kill more people. Unfortunately, not a single beggar could be seen roaming around the village.
Just two days ago, he ordered his subordinates to capture children to become his victims. It was all to satisfy his twisted desire to see people in pain and beg for mercy.
His plan might have gone smoothly, but with Setsuna's intervention, things would soon change.
"You mean your son is missing?"
"When was the last time your daughter was seen?"
"Only his toys were left behind?"
"Where was your daughter last seen?"
After gathering all this information, one of Setsuna's clones, who had been roaming the Land of Fire, decided to release the jutsu and send the details back to the real Setsuna.
Setsuna, who was residing in Uzushiogakure, finally received the information. He then turned to Jarvis.
"Jarvis, in the northwest of the Land of Fire, there's been a string of child disappearances. Do you have any records from the past two days?" asked Setsuna.
"Sir, we do have the footage from the satellite cameras. Currently, the available storage allows us to record for up to one year," replied Jarvis.
The recordings were made using Starlink cameras from the 10,000 satellites orbiting the Earth, combined with the storage from Jarvis' supercomputer. Setsuna had allocated 2 petabytes of storage just for surveillance, making it possible to store a year's worth of footage.
"Good. Check the coordinates I gave you. Is there anything unusual that happened in the past two days?" ordered Setsuna.
"Alright, host... Loading... 1%... 60%... 100%... Complete," said Jarvis.
"Good," smirked Setsuna.
"There's significant activity. Some people dressed as private soldiers have been capturing children and hiding them in a mountain," reported Jarvis. "Based on the data, these private soldiers were likely hired by a nobleman from the Karasuki family."
"What? What do you think they're planning to do with those kids?" Setsuna asked, his face filled with anger.
"According to historical data, some noblemen had twisted desires. They might be planning to torture them," replied Jarvis.
"Damn... Karasuki, just you wait," growled Setsuna, before using Kamui to teleport to the location.
---Victim POV---
It had been two days since they were kidnapped. About 50 children were tied up together, barely surviving with only water to keep them from dying of thirst. They hadn't been given any food.
The guards finally released the children, removing their blindfolds. As their eyes adjusted to the light, the first thing they saw was a nobleman standing alongside the guards.
"Listen, do you kids want food?" the nobleman asked.
None of the children answered. Some were crying, while others were so terrified they wet themselves.
Suddenly, one of the guards raised a whip and lashed the nearest child. The other children were horrified, and the boy who was hit cried out in pain.
"Please... please don't hit me," the boy begged.
"Oh, so you aren't mute after all," the nobleman grinned sadistically. "Now listen, you'll get food if you manage to reach that spot over there."They are looking at the location pointed by the guards.
"But if you're late, we'll whip you until you're dead."
Some of the children tried to hold back their tears, but they were whipped again.
"Now run to that spot, or you'll be whipped again!" the guards threatened.
Terrified, the children ran toward the place their kidnappers had pointed to.
As they ran, Setsuna watched from a nearby tree, listening to the conversation between the noble and the guards.
"This time, the hunt will use whips," said Karasuki, the noble. "The winner gets 10,000 ryo. But if I win, your bonus will be deducted. Remember, they must be whipped to death."
"Understood," one of the guards replied.
"It's been a while," Karasuki added, eager for the cruel game to begin.
Just as they were about to chase the children, Setsuna stepped in and stopped them.
---Setsuna POV---
He had heard rumors of human hunts in the past, but witnessing these despicable acts firsthand—humans hunting and tormenting other humans—made his anger boil over.
Using the Henge no Jutsu, he transformed into Uzukage form and swiftly defeated everyone involved. One by one, he extracted information from the culprits, ensuring he got all the details.
Afterward, he personally executed the noble responsible infront of the public, sparing only the innocent, especially the women and children. They were released and sent to an orphanage for safety.
Setsuna then used Kamui to meet with the real Uzukage to discuss an important matter, knowing that news of the Uzukage's attack on a noble in the Land of Fire would soon reach both Konoha and the Daimyo..
