Chapter 129: Uzukage Deathbed
---Slice Of Life---
Uchiha Izuna preferred the atmosphere in Uzushiogakure over Konoha because, at first glance, you could see the unity of the people living here.
Uchiha, Hyuga, Chinoike, and even some members of the Yamanaka and Nara clans resided in the compound designed for Setsuna and those from outside who wanted to stay in the village.
Setsuna met them during a war, where a platoon of genin was dispatched by the Second Hokage. They were facing a Kage-level opponent who could move very fast. For normal ninja, this would mean death, but they were saved by Uchiha Setsuna. Feeling indebted and after hearing about the job opportunities in Uzushiogakure, they decided to work for the Uzumaki clan and move there. Setsuna offered them a place to stay, and they readily agreed.
Setsuna's first batch of children—Karina, Karin, Izumi, Hizashi, and Neji—were already nine years old.
Kazuha, now eight years old, had been cured of her trauma by Setsuna with the help of the Yamanaka clan.
Intermarriage between clans was common here, and they all lived near Setsuna's residence because it was his responsibility to care for them. Well he is the one who invite other clan to stay and live in Uzushiogakure.
The Uzukage had become old, over seventy years of age, and wanted Setsuna to succeed him instead of his own son.
After all, who wouldn't want someone as capable as Setsuna as the next leader? He had managed to increase the village's economy twentyfold compared to before he come to the village.
---Uzukage Deathbed---
One day, Setsuna was summoned by an Anbu to visit the Uzukage. Upon arriving, he found his father-in-law weakly lying in bed.
"Setsuna," the Uzukage called weakly.
"Yes, father," Setsuna replied, taking his father-in-law's hand.
"Setsuna, my body can't hold on much longer. I may die any time now. Can you promise to become the Uzukage?" the Uzukage asked.
The Uzukage's son showed an envious look, while some elders agreed with the choice, and others frowned, not wanting an Uchiha to lead.
"Father, it would be difficult for me to become the Uzukage. I am an Uchiha," replied Setsuna.
"Don't worry. I believe in you," the Uzukage said.
The Uzukage then tried to sit up, and noticing this, Setsuna supported him.
"Listen, my final wish is for Setsuna to become the Uzukage. I know he's an Uchiha, but look at what he has done for Uzushiogakure," the Uzukage declared. "Konoha was blind to let such a capable man leave, but Setsuna is a treasure—don't you agree?"
Even the sternest of the elders couldn't help but agree with the Uzukage's statement.
"Father…" Setsuna began.
"Please, promise me you'll agree," begged the Uzukage.
"Sigh…" Setsuna sighed. "I will, but not right now."
"Okay," the Uzukage smiled, confident that after his death, Setsuna would inherit the position.
Little did he know that after Setsuna left the house, he met with Kagami.
"Kagami, how's your son?" Setsuna asked.
"Fuji is doing well," Kagami smiled.
His son, now a year old, was very cute, calling "Papa" and "Mama" all the time.
"Kagami, I need your help," Setsuna said.
"What do you need, Sensei?" Kagami asked, ready to assist.
"I need you to use your Sharingan," replied Setsuna.
"Okay, who do you want me to heal, Sensei?" Kagami asked.
"I need you to use rejuvenation on the Uzukage," Setsuna replied.
"Hmmm… I heard the Uzukage is on his deathbed," Kagami remarked.
"Correct. He needs to stay alive to lead us, and for that, he needs a younger body," replied Setsuna.
"Sensei, why do we need to save the Uzukage?" Kagami asked.
"Because he's too important. With his presence, the Uzumaki clan remains united. If he dies before we're fully integrated into this village, it could cause problems in the future," Setsuna explained.
"How long does he need to live?" Kagami asked.
"In my estimation, around 50 more years—long enough for our grandchildren to have their own children," smiled Setsuna.
"Okay, Sensei," Kagami agreed.
---Uzukage become young---
Later that evening, Setsuna visited the Uzukage again, this time accompanied by Kagami.
"Father," greeted Kagami.
"Oh, Setsuna," the Uzukage smiled, then noticed another Uchiha with him.
"This is your student, right?" asked the Uzukage. "Uchiha Kagami?"
"Correct, Uzukage," Kagami replied.
"Father, Kagami is here to heal you," said Setsuna.
"I know my body's limits, Setsuna," the Uzukage began to argue, but Setsuna cut him off.
"Yes, I understand, but Father, compared to living in discomfort and pain, wouldn't it be better to have a healthy body? Let Kagami heal you."
The Uzukage fell silent at this. It was true—his body ached constantly, so why not give Kagami a chance?
"Okay, but from what I know, Uchiha aren't particularly skilled in healing jutsu," the Uzukage said.
"That's true, but Uchiha Kagami here has awakened the ability to heal others," Setsuna answered.
"Really?" asked the Uzukage.
"Setsuna-sensei speaks the truth. If you allow me to touch your body, I can treat you," replied Kagami.
"Alright," the Uzukage said, extending his hand to Kagami.
Kagami activated his Mangekyou Sharingan and focused his power on the Uzukage. The Uzukage immediately felt vitality returning to his body. The aches in his bones subsided and then completely disappeared. His body became sturdier, and he was filled with energy. Suddenly, the flow of energy stopped, and Kagami's eyes began to bleed.
"Kagami, are you alright?" asked the Uzukage.
Both Kagami and Setsuna smiled.
"Although this is the first time I've used this technique on a human, it was worth it," said Kagami.
He hadn't used this ability on his parents yet, as they were still healthy and strong. So this was the first time he had used it on another person.
"Father-in-law, you've become young again," commented Setsuna with a smile.
The Uzukage had initially been suspicious during the treatment, but upon hearing the comment, he was in disbelief.
"Really?" asked the Uzukage.
Setsuna handed him a mirror. The Uzukage took it and was shocked to find that the wrinkles on his face had vanished, replaced with the features of a handsome young man with red hair. His hair had turned white from old age, but now, he looked youthful once again.
"How is this possible?" the Uzukage asked in astonishment.
"Kagami's ability can rejuvenate the body," explained Setsuna. "But please, Father, don't let anyone else know about this."
"Why not? Isn't this an incredible thing?" asked the Uzukage.
"It is, but Kagami only has a regular Mangekyou Sharingan. If he overuses this ability, he could go blind."
