Beings like Neoh were much different than the average human in this world, the fundamental difference being the fact that they didn't get their mana from their surroundings but instead, they were mana sources themselves, beings that reach godhood have the ability to bend the reality to their liking in their respective territory and that's how gods are able to create planets or species, any mana that exists is an extension of the power of a god, but Neohs abilities went even further than that. He was able to directly manipulate any reality to his liking without limits.
Using this op ability he was able to access an endless amount of mana and energy, therefore he didn't possess a mana core, it was as if his whole existence radiated huge amounts of mana.
But now he needed a mana core before the old man figured out that his mana structure was not normal, luckily using the ability previously mentioned he was able to gather some mana into the form of a ball and hide the rest of his mana so the old man doesn't notice the insane amount of mana within him.
While he was busy making a fake core to fit in, he didn't notice the guild leader standing a meter apart from him.
"Hmmm, it seems like you were right to call me down here Ria, I can sense mana from this boy, good job"
Then without even introducing himself, he put his hand on Neoh's chest.
Neoh didn't protest, he let the old man do what he needed to do.
After a couple of minutes, the guild leader gasped, he was shocked to his core!
His legs gave out under his weight, and his head was spinning, Ria took the initiative and didn't let the guild leader fall on the ground.
Are you okay? Is everything okay guild master?
"Ah, I'm okay don't worry, I just had a mana overload it will fade away in a couple of minutes"
"As for you young man, I'm sorry that I didn't introduce myself beforehand, my name is Alton, and I'm in charge of this adventurer branch"
'Nice to meet you, my name is neoh'
"Listen here, you have a mana core, I can tell you that but I can't tell you how big it is I'm at the rank of a mage and your mana core should be bigger than mine so I can't test the limits of it, I just don't have enough mana, as a matter of fact, nobody in this kingdom other than the grand mage Utan who serves under prince Arthur can help you"
'And why is that?'
"Oh so you really are naive, Ria was right about you, listen to me this kingdom has 7 mages and 1 grand Master mage, I'm a mage, and if I can't access your core only a grandmaster can, your talent is one in millions, its been centuries since someone with a core this powerful has been born, such a shame that you didn't start training as soon as you were 15"
The old man seemed genuinely sad about that fact his voice was shaking and his eyes were watery.
"It's not too late now I personally will take you to the academy "
'I have to politely decline that offer'
Alton's eyes widened as if they had increased in size 5 times, the pupils that were previously hard to see under his white overgrown eyebrows now shone with madness.
"What did you just say to me?"
'I said I'm not coming I want to be an adventurer'
"Ria do you hear this guy or I'm finally going senile ?"
Then suddenly Alton slapped himself in the face.
Guild mastereeeeerr??? Ria shouted in shock.
"Ah so I'm not dreaming, HAVE YOU HIT YOUR HEAD SOMEWHERE BEFORE YOU CAME HERE?, WHO PASSES SUCH OPPORTUNITY YOU STUPID MAGGOT" guild master
shouted
He had lost all composure.
'I said I appreciate the offer but I don't want to go to school, also aren't you a mage? What are you doing here then?'
"I'm different I'm an outcast, if I could go back to Sorcerers Guild I would"
Neoh wanted to poke more so he could get more information and also find out why he was an outcast, but this was not the time, the guild master looked like a swollen tomato.
'Well anyway I'm not interested, now can you please give me the test so I can finally register as an adventurer I don't have all day'
Alton's expression changed from being mad to being defeated he seemed like a hungry wet dog under heavy rain.
Then suddenly a bright idea came into his mind.
"How about a bet?"
'What bet ?'
"If you pass your test you can become an adventurer but if you don't you should come with me to the academy "
'I accept'
Neoh didn't hesitate to answer! this ran chills down the old man's spine but he didn't waver his plan was bulletproof or at least he thought so.
On the other hand, Neoh felt insulted for being underestimated to this degree and he wanted to show off a little bit, sometimes even living for thousands of years and having bottomless experience can't get in the way of your pride and that's just how humans are.
"Wait here for now, young man, I will prepare your test, Ria come with me "
After that Alton and Ria climbed the stairs and disappeared from Neoh's sight.
"Ria call Ivor, for the test"
As soon as she heard that name ،Ria's facial expressions started screaming danger.
'You mean Ivor the bone eater ?' She asked with a shaking voice
"Yes of course I mean Ivor the bone eater who else is called Ivor in this fucking city?"
'What do you intend to ask of him, guild master?'
"I want him to battle this young man"
'What?'
Ria couldn't grasp the intentions of Alton it was the first time she had seen the guild master acting so weirdly this was all new to her.
'But guild master we have a set of rules for conducting the test he has to go through various evaluation exams and prove his efficiency with his weapon of choice and then duel a master, we can't just throw him in the pit with a monster and call it a day'
Although using the word monster for describing Ivor seemed a bit too generous.
"You think I don't know that? I don't plan to accept him here as an adventurer, I want him to lose and lose badly at that, so he can realize his helplessness and follow me to that goddamn academy, I'm doing him a favor, I'm doing this godforsaken empire a favor a mage like him if well-trained will be a deterrence against all our neighbors for the next god knows how many centuries, I'm not about to let him waste his talent in some god damn cave killing some fucking monsters"
His veins were bulging and his eyes were about to pop out of their sockets as he was explaining his intentions.
Neoh could easily eavesdrop on their conversation but he didn't choose to do so, he wanted to get surprised, that was one of the only things that still kept him going, new experiences were hard to come by for someone like him.
--------------
Arwel instantly casted absolute shield the impact of Yael's sword pressing against her shield sent Shockwaves stretching kilometers outside of the castle, but Yael didn't lose the momentum and followed her first strike with another one but this time as soon as her blade was about to hit the shield an explosion sent her back couple of meters.
As soon as she regained her composure she saw a huge black hole coming towards her at an incredible speed, she flew to the sky and used her abilities called the sword of justice suddenly a ray of light from her sword rushed towards the incoming black hole and a gigantic explosion shook the training hall, luckily scarlet was there to cast multiple barriers to keep the battle contained, as the battle raged on each of them used more and more insane spells and abilities some of them could only be described as catastrophic, but it was clear that Yael had the upper hand, her figure had changed a bit and now one could describe her as pure light taking the form of a human, she was dancing in the sky and dodging the spells hurled at her, and when she got the chance she would dive down and land a hit, to wear her opponent down the movements were so fast it was almost impossible to follow.
Of course, they couldn't even come close to using their full potential they had to keep in mind that their opponent was still an ally, also there was a handful of spells and abilities they could make use of, and that was because both of them had hundreds of resistances to a wide variety of spells like mind control, charm, poisons, confusion, and illusion spells, so their choices were limited.
While the battle was going on eblis turned to Kelvin and asked him what is his opinion about the battle.
"Well, while it seems like Yael has the upper hand, she can't even use most of her abilities and she can't use her ultimate form because of the level of destruction it would cause, if that happens I'm not even sure if Scarlet can contain it, but Arwel, on the other hand, doesn't have a final form she has access to an endless amount of spells although she is still very limited to spells that won't break scarlets barrier, she can make a comeback
"
'That's a good assessment but I think Yael is terrifying enough to succeed even with her limitations'
