Chapter 5 - Tips and changes in a hunter's dream.

- So this is Yharnam?

Compared to Orariro's single-level development, this city consisted of stately Gothic and Victorian multi-storey houses built at varying heights. Despite the fact that Yharnam resembled European cities of the 19th century, in the light of the moon it looked gloomy and decadent.

On the left side of the clinic, towering above the entire city, could be seen a huge bridge leading to an ancient-looking castle.

Continuing his path, Crowley went out through the gate on the left side of the hospital and a view of a cliff opened up in front of him, at the bottom of which the supports of the bridge could be seen. Approaching the edge, the young hunter discovered a corpse with a dozen mercury bullets.

Walking along the right side of the gorge in front of Crowley, a human silhouette appeared near the carriage. Dressed in unremarkable clothes, he held a torch in one hand and an ax in the other.

Trying to start a conversation, the teenager began to approach the man.

- Good nigh....

Stopping in the middle of a sentence, Crowley took a closer look at the man in front of him. Unnaturally long and tousled hair, crazy eyes and saliva dripping from the mouth. Sharply retreating a couple of steps, the young hunter grabbed the cane tighter and switched it to a whip mode

- Are you okay? - the answer to his question was an axe flying towards him.

Having tried to block a vertical blow using the middle of the cane, it turned out that before doing so it would be worth switching it back to a sword mode.

On impact, the middle of the axe blade dragged the whip to the ground, and the top edge hit Crowley straight across his body, ripping him open from chest to groin.

Falling to his knees, the hunter's gaze moved to the newly raised axe.

{Damn!}

The second blow followed , this time aimed at the head.

*Death*

...

Once again finding himself on the floor of the clinic, Crowley decided to write down the information he had learned in a notebook previously received from a group of envoys.

1. Don't let your guard down and move carefully.

2. In a fight, do not lose your balance and distribute your weight so as not to lose the ability to jump sharply in any direction.

3. Fight with animal-like opponents gradually, at a distance, slowly accumulating damage until they weaken and die. Due to their durability and strength, they tend to ignore damage and rush forward mindlessly.

4. In battle, watch your surroundings; an unsuccessful collision with surrounding objects leads to disastrous consequences.

5. Don't approach strangers until you know their intentions. Or at least be prepared to take retaliatory action.

6. The blood of creatures has incredibly powerful healing properties.

7. Block incoming attacks with weapons that can withstand impact.

8. An otherworld cemetery is the only safe place.

That's enough for now. Putting the notebook in his pocket, Crowley continued on his way again. This time the lycanthrope was defeated at the cost of a couple of small scratches.

Again appearing before the wild (that's what he decided to call these humanoid creatures). Having prepared for the fight in advance, the cane was switched to sword mode.

Due to the difference in the length of the weapon, the wild one struck first. Trying to block the blow, Crowley belatedly realized that there was another important detail - the balance of forces. A single blow from the ax almost forced the young hunter to let go of the weapon.

{I won't last that long, I need to think of something}.

The first blow was followed by a second.

Clumsily raising the cane in his trembling hands, the only thing Crowley managed to do was turn the cane away from himself at an angle. The young hunter saw a miracle: the bulky blade of the axe slid across the sword and changed the trajectory of the blow.

Unfortunately, either due to an accidental parry or lack of body movement, the reflected blow landed directly on the novice fighter's left foot.

Loss of part of left foot. A fall. Hit. Death.

7. You should not take a direct blow to the weapon; redirect incoming attacks to the sides, away from your body. At such moments, the clumsy opponent loses his balance and remains completely open to a counterattack. A more experienced opponent will quickly close the gap. (PS What to do in this case?)

9. In battle, you should move actively; a sedentary target is the most vulnerable.

Another attempt. The wolf was killed without getting a single wound.

This time, having dodged the first blow, Crowley made an accurate lunge at the head of the wild one, thereby putting an end to his existence.

Having walked a few steps forward, he saw the wild ones rushing towards him, although they were a head shorter in height than the first, there were still several of them now.

Deciding to deal with one of them as quickly as possible before the fight began, Crowley deployed his cane into whip mode. Hit. The cane entangled the weapon of one of the monsters and got stuck in it. The outcome is predictable. The second wild one split the head of the inexperienced hunter with one powerful blow.

*Death*

This was followed by a series of deaths, between which the hunter's skills slowly improved.

This time the lone hunter decided to level the situation. Even before any of the monsters approached, he walked in a circle to the right. Thus, he lined them up in one line, essentially turning a 2 on 1 fight into a duel.

10. Line up your opponents so they can't attack you at the same time.

After a short fight, 3 corpses lay on the ground.

Using the vessel with blood, the hunter went to the stairs, the only path currently available.

-Aaaargh!! - At the end of the ladder, a terrible and hoarse scream was heard.

Goosebumps covered the hunter's body, and deep down he felt fear.

{What was that?}

Shaking his head, he decided that in any case he would find the answer to his question. Whether he wants it or not.

Having risen to the top, a joyful picture appeared in his field of vision - the messengers' lantern stood under the window of one of the houses. Without hesitating even a second, the wanderer rushed towards him and when there were only a few moments left before contact, a voice was heard.

- Oh you must be a Hunter, and not one from around here either. I'm Gilbert, a fellow outsider.

For the first time in a long time, hearing human speech, the surprised hunter hurried to start a conversation.

- Gilbert? Nice to meet you, my name is Crowley, last name is Cheshire. Honestly, I don't know what to do. Some old man called me paleblood, mentioned a contract, because of which I am now forced to wander around this terrible place.

- You must have had a fine time of it. Yharnam has a special way of treating guests.

I don't think I can stand if I wanted to, but I'm willing to help, if there's anything that can be done.

This town is cursed. Whatever your reasons might be you should plan a swift exit.

Whatever can be gained from this place, it will do more harm than good.

- Honestly, I don't think I have the opportunity to leave the city so easily. But thanks for the advice. Is there anything else I should know?

- No, I don't think so. But wait! Paleblood, you say? Hmm... Never heard of it. But if it's blood you're interested in, you should try the Healing Church.

The church controls all knowledge on blood ministration, and all varieties of blood.

Across the valley to the East of Yharnam lies the town of the Healing Church, known as the Cathedral Ward. And deep within the Cathedral Ward is the old grand cathedral. ...the birthplace of the Healing Church's special blood, or so they say.

Yharnamites don't share much with outsiders. Normally, they wouldn't let you near this place, but... The hunt is on tonight. This might be your chance...

{ Healing Church... I'll remember this name }

- Thank you, Gilbert, I promise that I will visit you periodically.

Having said this, the teenager touched the lamp and disappeared.

...

*Hunter's dream*

Once again in the shelter, something unexpected caught the eyes of those present.

The doors of the "church" were open.
