COMMANDER ABRAM'S POV
We settled in Sitka and I spent my days in the mountains practicing what Uncle Cadman and the mountain god. I was frustrated because by the end of the day, I was not able to move the mountain entrance and I became frustrated.
"I GIVE UP!" I shouted and collapsed onto the mountain river bed and the water splashed around me. I raised my head when I heard slow, sarcastic claps from back behind a tree. Aspen stepped out slowly and leaned against that tree, smirking. "Wow. That was incredible. An inspiration and that's what you are Commander. I want to learn from you."
"Well, you can't blame me," I snickered. "I've been trying to master this stupid magic for two days and I have no results. I can't make it do anything I want even though I am a hybrid.
Aspen nodded and then came over to me and squatted down in front of me. "That's because you can't make magic if you don't believe in it, you have to be convinced."
