"Are you afraid because i am Icarthan?," she asked, her fingers tightened on his shirt, stubbornly refusing to let go.
Her feelings were overwhelming and in that moment, she felt as though if she did not speak, if she did not do something, it would never end.
She would rather have him reject her than play this annoying, nerve wracking game. She wanted his love, his trust.
She wanted to ignore every nerve in her body, screaming at her to not trust the man. It was too late anyway.
"Then if you are, I'll tell you this, my lord," she said and taking a deep breath, she continued, "I and my father don't have the best relationship! I am not in contact with him in any way and I have no motive to poison you or any of that sort, for his sake."
Her words amused Sebastian and he had the urge to smile, despite the thick tension in the air, and though he had considered it, he found that he did not suspect her.
Not even for a moment.
