Chereads / Nothingness Of Life / Chapter 12 - The Journey

Chapter 12 - The Journey

Days turns into weeks, and weeks into months, but the reality was still the same. Ndukwe was in a deep coma, completely unaware of the world around him. But while his body lay still, his mind was transported to a supernatural world that was beyond his wildest imagination. But in that state of nothingness, he was visited by a ghost, a specter of light and shadow that seemed to defy the laws of the physical world.

He realised that there is another world in the Existence world that cannot be seen .They are not humans, but spirits and ghosts having daily activities. He felt a sense of peace and emptiness at the same time. Not sure of how he feels, but he felt Welcomed and confused.

As he walked, he saw Unfamiliar and familiar faces. He could hear voices and they were speaking in an unknown tongues (tongues of the spirit).

In this world nothing matters anymore. They were all waiting for the gateway to the other world to open so that they can have the final rest and destination. So, he walked and saw a familiar ghost. He knew that he had seen the face before, but he could not remembered where. He quickly ran to him, " Hello..... Hello, Hey," He screamed while running towards him, but it seems like nobody understood him and felt unheard.

He was so confused. Where am I? What is this place?

A man appeared out of the mist. He looks so old and has a winter white, a goatee like a devil fork, his teeth gleamed like piano keys and a bright brown eyes. His fingers were gnarled and knobbly and he wore a long rope. His voice was surprising, a gravel and gravy mix of whiskey roughness and educated brogue. He shuffled uncomfortably as he approached him.

"Hey kid, you look lost and confused, how long have you been here?"

He seemed very gentle and nice.

"Where am I"? Ndukwe asked.

"Where are you?

He wailed with laughter like a broken siren and kept laughing for more than three minutes" he looks like he wants to fall because he was shaking so hard as he laughed.

His laugh was so annoying but free. Why are you laughing Ndukwe asked.

" It's just so funny that you don't know where you are, you are in another world; the land of spirits" he said while still laughing.

"Land of spirits! What are you talking about? Am I dead?" He asked.

This is a world beyond the physical, a place where spirits and ghosts reside, the old man replied.

Ndukwe was so sad. It was like a black hole, swallowing him up from the inside. It was an intense form of grief that he had never felt before.

What's your name? The old man asked.

"My name is Ndukwe," he replied.

"My name is Papichulo, but feel free to call me Papi," said the old man with a nostalgic smile. "Everyone knows me as Papi." Taking a deep breath, he began to share his life story with Ndukwe. "I have two wonderful kids, a boy, and a girl, along with five lovely grandkids. My journey was tumultuous; my son harbors resentment towards me for not being around due to my military service and the grief that led me into a drinking habit. My daughter faced her own struggles and blamed me for her challenges. Despite attempting to mend the broken pieces, it was too late due to my health issues."

"Oh, Ndukwe, I'm sorry to burden you with my tale," the old man sighed softly. "Yet, I need you to understand that some mistakes cannot be rectified. It wasn't until my final moments that my family found forgiveness and love for me. It was a bittersweet awakening that I experienced on my deathbed, surrounded by their forgiving presence. As I closed my eyes, I woke up here. He laughed so loud like a drunk man

"Do you recall anything from your earthly life?" asked the old man.

Ndukwe told him his life story, reminiscing about the comforting embrace of his mother as the last memory of him in the existing world. Expressing a mix of sadness and emptiness, he shared his feelings with a heavy heart. Suddenly, a voice called out, "Papi," catching Ndukwe's attention from behind. Turning around, he laid eyes on a tall, muscular figure with broad shoulders and piercing blue eyes, moving swiftly towards them. "That's my best friend, Thomas," the guy I told you about. Papi, revealed that Thomas had passed away 35 years ago during a war. "Hey there, Thomas," Ndukwe greeted warmly as they exchanged introductions.

Thomas has been there for a longer time he tends to take Ndukwe around and introduce him to other dead peoples and teach him everything he knows

"Ndukwe asked Thomas, 'Is this heaven?' My pastor always talks about heaven, he stated.

They both laughed so hard (Papichulo and Thomas).

"No, this is not heaven, but the land of the spirit. Everyone is waiting for their gateway to open so that they can transcend to the land of light and music, which people call heaven."

The journey started. They visited a poverty-stricken village in the real world where the people struggled to survive each day, a war-torn city where the inhabitants lived in constant fear, and a hospital filled with patients battling terminal illnesses. Ndukwe was overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of human suffering that he witnessed, and he couldn't help but wonder what the point of it all was.

He saw a man who had ended his life in the existing world, and he asked Thomas why the man had made such a drastic decision. Thomas explained that it was because the man had felt unloved and unappreciated, that nobody had seemed to see the value of his existence.

As they continued their journey, Ndukwe began to feel the weight of the world's suffering pressing down on him. He confessed to thomas that he, too, had felt the urge to end his own life, overwhelmed by the difficulties and struggles that seemed to have no end. He asked thomas why the world was so difficult to live in, why it seemed like happiness and peace were so elusive.

Thomas answered with wisdom beyond human understanding, telling Ndukwe that everything in the physical world is temporary, fleeting. But the true journey of life begins after death, where the measure of how well one has lived is truly taken.

Papi said, I wish I knew all this, maybe I would have be a better husband and father to my wife and children

Ndukwe was transcend with a speed of light into another world so beautiful and beyond humans imagination. There is no word that can describe how beautiful the world is. A world where there is no worries and pains. A world that has no cars, no phones, but a world that created the wisdom of technology, civilisation and all creations. A world where the beginning of creation and civilisation started.

It was so beautiful that there is no word that could describe it. Everyone were happy and there was a forever unending music playing with a beautiful melody and harmony. It sounds like a siren beautiful song but he could not understand the words or what the song is saying, but he felt so happy and peaceful. All his life in the existing human world, he haven't felt this way. So he walked closer and closer to where he thought the sound is coming from, but the sound and music was coming from everywhere and the music is unending.

As he explored this supernatural world, he encountered beings that were different from anything he had ever imagined. They were creatures of light and energy, with no physical form but with an overwhelming sense of peace and wisdom.
