Aislinn's POV:
"Good morning, I'm here for a job Interview" I said to the receptionist. "And who are you?" she judgementally asked looking at me from head to toe. I grabbed my purse tighter while leaning from foot to foot.
"Miss Aislinn Caddel" I replied biting my lower lips. She typed something on the computer, came me a card and pointed at the elevator. "This is a one time card. Swipe it once and the elevator will open. Floor 37, on getting there, you'll get more information. Good luck" she finished off without sparing me another glance.
Stepping out of the elevator, I met a woman who seemed to be in her mid forties. "Good morning ma'am I'm Miss Caddel and-" "Yes Miss Caddel, we were waiting for you to get here. Please sit down there, the interview will commence in few minutes". She spoke so politely making me feel a bit calm unlike the receptionist.
People were also seated on the couch she pointed at waiting for the interview to begin. Settling down, I checked the time 9:20 Whew! 10 more minutes to go.
"Okay, good morning everyone. It's time for the interview to begin. Miss Raymond, you're first". A woman wearing a very revealing dress with her breast begging to spill out stood up and swayed her way in.
Watching people leave the door with different emotions left my heart racing in anxiety. They don't even spend up to 2 minutes in there!
"Miss Caddel, you're next" the woman informed me. Noticing my slight panic, she patted my back "You'll do fine. Just be honest and truthful cause his words could be very tricky. Good luck" she finished up as she opened his door for me .
A dark themed office welcomed me as I stepped in. The walls were light brown in colour, a very tall shelf by the left wing, dark brown tiles and black curtains. Paintings and sculptures were on the wall giving adding to it's beauty.
A strong masculine smell engulfing the atmosphere snapping back to reality. "Are you here to stare or for the interview" came a deep voice. Up until then, I hadn't noticed him cause his chair was faced to the window. His hair and shoulder only visible.
"Good morning sir. I'm Miss Caddel and I'm here for the interview". I said brushing off non existent dirt on my dress. Wearing my blue floral dress always gave me luck and comfort so fingers crossed.
"Have your sit Miss Caddel". My words got stuck in my throat as he swivelled around. Sitting In front of me was the handsome stranger I saw in the bakery ohh yes! I should have guessed it was him . Sitting there, oozing power with a stoic face he arched his brow
" You done checking me out?". That statement made me quickly sit and inwardly scold myself from ogling him. So rude
"That's not how to talk you your boss now, Miss Caddel". He said with amusement evident in his eyes. "
"Sorry?"
"You don't call your boss rude". My eyes widened in realization that I said that out loud. "Well technically you're not my boss yet" realising my statement, I tried correcting myself but he interrupted "Your cv and other documents" he said point at my cv laid in the table with a smirk which left as soon as it came
Viewing the document with a pointed face not giving away his thoughts, I couldn't help but admire his features. Walking temptation. The perfect description for my view.
"Impressive credentials. Better than I expected". Pausing his lips, he hesitated before continuing. "You schooled in a well recognised and top school" meeting my gaze with his, he dropped the document as curiosity swam in his eyes. Immediately understanding where he was driving at I lowered my gaze and was hit with a sudden wave of tears.
Aislinn don't cry! You're not weak! You're strong! Papa told you that! I inwardly chanted to myself. Lifting back my gaze, I cleared my throat "Yes sir. I was fortunate enough".
"Have any idea what being a secretary entails? Especially one to Anthony Reynolds"
"Full time commitment and hard-work" I simply stated rubbing my palm together underneath the table.
"Hmmm indeed. That would be all Miss Caddel, you may leave". He said as he not so calmly slammed my documents while giving it back. Stood up and walked to the shelf. Leaving me with his back view, I was in awe as he walked with so much power placing his hands in his pocket.
"I believe I made myself clear".
"Have a nice day sir" snapping back to reality, I picked up my things and scrambled out of his office releasing a breath I didn't know I was holding, I made my way to the elevator.
.
.
.
"A cup of cappuccino and two slices of buttermilk cake, sided with pancake and caramel toppings then...a bottle of water. That would be all thanks." A customer ordered with a wide grin showing her chubby freckled cheeks. Now I know how her cheeks got so chubby
Inwardly chuckling, I returned a polite smile and walked into the kitchen to place her order. "Hey Mary!" I greeted the new cook Mary handing her the order. Apparently, Edward couldn't continue working with us after his wife's birth .
"Definitely isn't the first, neither is she going to be the last " . Mary said slightly shaking her head.
Giggling at her words I went off to get some necessary ingredients. Some of pastries were made earlier today so we just had to reheat the ordered ones.
"Papa I want yoghurt and cake not mashed potatoes and veggies"
"No my little angel, excess sugar makes the tummy hurt and you'll cry like a baby while laying on the bed". He poked my big tummy with his finger while making fake groaning faces and I laughed taking a full spoon of my mashed potatoes.
A distant sound called my attention back. "Aislinn, that should be your phone" Mary said while effortlessly flipping the pancake. Dusting my hands on a dry towel I picked the call
"Good morning, This is Mrs. Collins calling from D Reynolds incorporated am I speaking with Miss Caddel?" at the sound of the company my ears pricked up and my heart raced faster. " Yes, yes of course. Miss Aislinn Caddel" I replied hoping for the best.
"Okay then. After critical analysis, you've been hired to take up the position of the personal assistant to our CEO. But unfortunately there's a condition attached to this"
