Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: Uninvited Guest

"You sure are the devil itself."

"I knew you would still be sleeping."

"It would be great if you have called me beforehand," she sighed and handed me a glass of water.

"Wyna, I would, only if you could wake up and pick the phone up, but I doubt you could," I said lazily as I took the glass from her.

Werlynna, the girl who fainted on my funeral, my best friend chuckled at my remark acknowledging herself a heavy sleeper.

"I'm glad to have you around again."

"Did you miss me?"

"Hoh, don't even ask. I miss you to the extent of wanting to slap you with this bread," she answered as she playfully swinged her hand holding a bread, trying to hit me.

"Want some?"

"No, thanks."

"But, I'm really glad that you came back."

"Oh, come on. don't be so sentimental!"

"Otherwise…I'm not sure how my world would change."

The light hearted moment took turned heavy because of that sentence of hers. Normally, I would have given her my signature robotic fake laugher, but I couldn't. Recalling her expression on my funeral few days ago.

The expression plastered on her face was one I had never seen in our 11 years of friendship. Her eyes were blank from shock yet tears still continued to stream down her cheeks, her lips pale with no color from the shocking news, her dyed brown hair tied up messily. She stood still seeing me lying in my eternal bed.

Wyna suddenly opened her mouth again, snapping me back into reality with her playful tone.

"You should pay me back for all the tears I shed! I cried like cow you know!"

"Will Ice cream do?" I chuckled at her remark.

"You have to pay me back more! don't forget the emotion and shock's fee! At least 10 times of ice cream's price! My tears are expensive you know!"

"Don't eat too much bread, you won't have room for meat later."

"Meat?" she asked looking puzzled.

I couldn't help but laugh at her reaction. I wouldn't be able to tease her like this again soon, what a shame.

"Yeah, let's eat Korean BBQ for lunch."

"WHAT?! Why didn't you tell me sooner!" she protested and stopped her hand which was going to grab another piece of bread.

"I just decided it few seconds ago. Go get changed, it's nearly 12 anyway. Come on, I'm starving." I shooed her with my hand.

Wyna continued to grumble as she made her way to her room on second floor to change.

'I hope you will be fine when the time comes'

 ----------

"Have some of this."

"Thanks!"

"This tasted amazing. Here eat some more"

"Thank you."

"Here you go, your favorite."

"Than-"

"This is superb, have some."

"…"

"This meat is so tender, you'll love it."

"…"

I continued to pile more meat to Wyna's plate before stopped because I felt her gaze on me, staring at me looking flabbergasted with her cheeks still full of meat.

"What's wrong?"

Silence enveloped us for few seconds with us having staring contest, me not understanding why she gave me such look and her staring at me in silence before she eventually took her glass and chugged the tea to shove the food down her throat.

"What has gotten into you?" Wyna answered my question with question.

"What do you mean?"

"You are being weird. Why do you keep giving me more meat?"

"What do you mean weird? I have always done this."

Wyna put her chopsticks down before continuing, "Yeah, but do you realize you have piled so much meat on my plate that your plate is empty?"

"They are your favorites, so why not?" I replied with my head tilted.

"Nah, you're being weird. What has gotten into you?" Wyna asked not letting go of her suspicions.

"I just want to pamper you because I feel like it" I replied with playful tone.

Wyna's shoulder jumped at my answer and she hugged herself seeming to have goosebumps, "Cringe."

"Wow, I'm hurt."

"Like I would believe that."

I glared at her protesting, but we eventually broke into laughter from our friendly bickering. I stopped piling meat onto her plate and we continued to eat as we chatted. Wyna ranted about the drama happening to her recently, venting out her bottled up frustration caused by her roommates.

"I feel so refreshed."

"Glad to know that," I smiled seeing her finally calming down after ranting non-stop for 2 hours.

"Too bad Jim isn't here."

Wyna rolled her eyes at the mention of Jim, "Hah, like he would come if you told him yesterday or a week earlier."

I laughed at Wyna's remark because it was true. Despite us being a trio squad, Jim rarely showed his face since he always said 'I'm lazy' when we invited him.

"I'll be sure to drag him here next time. That aside, what are we going to do now?"

"Let's go to the mall for a stroll, I need to a little exercise to digest these meats," Wyna suggested.

With that we walked around the mall up and down, entering several stores which had discount but came out empty handed because I held Wyna back from impulse shopping of clothes that look cute but she might not wear. I hope everything would stay the same even after we grew old.

'I hope I could be on her side to see her on her happiest day, when she was at her lowest, when she won life, when she found what she wanted to do after graduating.'

I wish I could.

"You're back. Ate dinner already?" Mom asked.

"I ate already."

"Want some apples?"

I approached mom who was sitting on the couch watching her 8 0'clock evening 90's Chinese drama and popped the bite-sized apple to my mouth.

"Aren't they celebrating the achievement? Why do they use the soundtrack that sounded like someone is going to die anytime soon?" I raised an eyebrow watching the plot I had no idea about.

Mom laughed at my silly question before responding back, "I don't know either."

I smiled at my mom's response.

'I'm glad she seems fine.' I uttered in my mind

I went upstairs to shower after the short interaction with my mom thinking today was a peaceful day until I saw an uninvited guest showed up at my room when I got off the shower and felt a familiar chills in my bones from the gaze of that uninvited guest.

"You…why are you still alive?"
