Chapter 68 - Chapter 68 - A Heartfelt Conversation

*Ring* x3

Adam jolted awake when he heard the sound of the alarm.

"Hmn?" He looks around and finds the places to be quite odd. He should still be on the US Navy destroyer that is sending him and Enterprise to the base he was assigned to. However…

"Why am I back on the Orbital Fortress?" Adam tried to recall what happened because his memories of last night felt foggy.

A quick look on his HUD tells him it's 4:16 am, still at the crack of dawn as he tries to crawl off his bed only to realize he was hugged from both sides. Then his head becomes clear as if he sobered up instantly.

The trip to the base took a few days and last night. Winter grew impatient and was at her last rope as they cannot get too intimate in the ship with people able to hear them. So, at night Adam and her return to the Orbital Fortress and get entangled with his other two wives and had a foursome last night. It was the second time they consummated their marriage since the first time. It was less aggressive on his side and more passionate as he satisfied their hunger for his affection.

As for why his head felt foggy… he might have gone a little extra on Jalter who was surprisingly having a liking for more 'hardcore' stuff. Basically, she is a closet masochist that exposed herself when Agent left the room and Winter fell asleep. They did it almost the whole night and Adam just woke up from his half an hour nap.

Anyway, Adam let Jalter continue sleeping but he wake Winter up. He wants both of them to return to the ship before anyone realizes they are missing since everyone wakes up at 6 for breakfast.

"Winter, wake up…" Adam gently shakes her body and she immediately wakes up since she is quite a light sleeper, a habit from her old self that persisted to her new self.

Her eyes opened wide for a moment to assess the situation but relaxed once she made sure there was no urgency.

"Hn…" She stretched cutely before she latched herself on Adam.

Adam chuckled silently as to not wake Jalter up before he carried Winter. "Let's take a bath first." He said after noting himself was sticky and so does Winter after what they did last night.

Winter acted spoiled and wrapped her arms around his neck, hoping he would carry her instead, which he did as he carried her naked body into the bathroom within his own room and helped her get bathed. Half way through their bath, Winter grabbed the leviathan between his legs.

"No. We don't have time for this, Winter." He berated her with a sigh.

"Just a quick head." She pouted. Not that Adam could refuse when his lil' bro is fully awake as he caved in. "Fine. Just that and nothing more." He agreed. But as if they're gonna stop at just that as they end up doing the entire thing and by the time they finish, it's almost 5:30 am as they quickly get dressed.

When he is about to leave, Agent enters the room and drags them to have breakfast as she dreaded her Master having to eat the food fed to the other sailors. Adam and Winter spend roughly another 10 minutes quickly eating their breakfast before they finally leave.

———

The trip from the mainland to the naval base would take around a week when considering the Siren attacks.

Today, it's the fourth day and encounters with Siren become increasingly frequent as they get deeper into the sea which is mostly under Siren's control.

"We will make a quick stop at Hawaiian base to resupply. Can't wait to see land. I'm so fucking nervous to be surrounded by waters when those Siren can appear at any moment." Enterprise overheard some of the crew talk while they went along with their duty.

Enterprise was resting on the front deck which made it easier for her to detect enemies and send out scouting planes. She placed a hand on her stomach which growled as she felt hungry. But when she turned to her back, her escort tensed up and pointed their guns at her.

'Haah…' She sighed internally. 'Am I really that terrifying?' She looks up at the sky and wonders.

"He sure is late today…" She mutters with a little pout. Usually, Adam would bring her something to eat and drink at 6 am sharp.

She couldn't help but recall the woman next to her Commander. They do look like siblings. However, when Enterprise asked about it a while ago. The white haired woman is named Winter, technically his older sister but also one of his wives.

Yes, one of his wives.

It didn't come as a surprise that her Commander would have many partners as even before, he had over a hundred shipgirls as his wives. Not even the destroyers and little ones were spared from his claws as he heard rumors he coveted Little Cheshire, Little Spee and Amagi-Chan. So, hearing he had three new wives doesn't really come as surprising.

"Haah…" Enterprise sighed again wondering why her luck was rotten. After she finally fulfilled her wish to find her Commander. There is now a distance between them two. Her Commander felt hard to approach, like he was a different person compared to before.

"Why can't we just become like before. Why must it be this complicated?" She sighed and closed her eyes as she felt the wind, waiting for an answer.

The answer did come as she heard footsteps echoes close to her. Enterprise quickly opens her eyes to greet a familiar person.

"Commander?" Enterprise looked at Adam and then the escort behind him which he dismissed and ordered them to leave for a moment. Also, she cannot find Winter who usually sticks close to Adam like a glue.

"I brought you something to eat." Adam said as he carried a paper cup filled with black coffee and a paper plate filled with pancakes, hash browns, scrambled eggs and sausages.

"T-Thanks…" She looked a little flustered when he approached her without her noticing. She accepts the food before she swiftly and eagerly feast on it.

Adam found a place to sit nearby and light up a cigarette with a little struggle as the area around the deck was quite windy. They sat there silently. Enterprise enjoys her breakfast and Adam enjoys his cigarette.

Enterprise was a little curious why he was here sitting with her. She figures there is something he wants to talk about and is waiting for her to finish her meal before they talk. So, she ate a little faster and almost choked as Adam chuckled and gave her a bottle of water he pulled out of nowhere.

"Eat slowly, I'm not going anywhere." Adam said which leaves Enterprise with a reddened cheeks as she nods and continues eating but a little slower this time.

It's awkward for both sides. For Adam, even if Enterprise is someone he knew, she is someone unfamiliar as it's hard to gauge her true personality with only sets of voice lines as his hints. As for Enterprise, Adam is her original Commander. However, they are clearly two different people as she also faces the same issue as Adam but in reverse since the Commander she is familiar with is just a character that Adam influences only to some extent.

After she is done eating. Adam asks questions which he admittedly should have asked from the very start.

"So… I have questions." Adam paused for a few moments before he continued. "What exactly happened in your original world? How did you end up here?"

To that, Enterprise was left with words stuck on her throat. There is so much to tell and it's impossible to tell everything. So, she has to tell only the important bits.

Seeing she was struggling to find where to start, Adam gave her a suggestion.

"Please start from the Siren Stronghold raid. I remember only until then." He said that's the last content literally in the game where the player raids the Siren real base in the mirror sea as big as the world itself.

"Alright. Then, at the moment of our victory. Commander first went missing before the Siren command node collapsed. At that moment, the lock put in place by the Siren was unlocked and opened the access point to the other Timelines. However, our victory was short-lived." Enterprise said with a look of anger and regret.

"By defeating the Siren, we realized they were the only reason humanity still persists. Without them, there's nothing left holding back the true enemy. Before we could relish our hard earned victory, they arrived. The real enemy, Deus X."

"Deus X?" Adam finds the name is quite unhelpful to uncover the identity of the being he saw from the vision of the future shown by the cube.

Enterprise nod. "There isn't much known about Deus X. Not even the Siren manages to learn much about it other than it being a real divine being. A real god."

"Anything else you know about Deus X?" Adam inquired as he tried to uncover more clues.

Enterprise tilted her head and thought very hard as she tried her best to recall any important details she can share with Adam.

"Other than the enemies it spawn is an aquatic creature, I don't think there is anything more. The creature it spawn couldn't get up on the land and mainly conquer the ocean but they will attempt to flood all the land to conquer the world." She answered.

Adam nods and thanks for sharing the information before he ponders over it.

"Deus X, a god? Aquatic creatures… Not really much of a clue." He mutters. But if Adam could bet all his chips, he would bet on Deus X being another Outer God that is trying to devour this world just like in the Rwby world witb the only difference is the Outer God is winning.

[Due to Host action to uncover the truth of the disaster that will befall the world. A new Task will be assigned.]

[New Task]

Objective;

- Accelerate the development of project KANSEN in this timeline. (Pending)

- Become Commander of any one faction. (Complete)

- Establish the Coalition of Azur Lane. (Pending)

Reward: ???, ???

"Commander?" "Commander!" Enterprise called several times because Adam looked unfocused and dazed as if his eyes were elsewhere despite looking at her.

"Ah, sorry. I was looking at something…" Adam responded although his expression remained unchanged for a few more moments before it turned into a frown.

It seems that his System thinks that developing the KANSEN faster in hope to be several times stronger by the time the Deus X arrives is the better plan. Which aligned with what he had in mind.

Adam hopes to outfit the Kansen with weaponry and technology way beyond its time. Like why use ballistic cannons when he can make them railgun cannons that can hit farther and harder? Why use WW2 era planes when there are jets that can fly and fight better, alsk carry tactical nukes? The possibility is endless.

"So, what happened after I disappeared?" Adam was curious and asked as he heard Enterprise talk about him going missing.

Enterprise tells about how the KANSEN factions and Azur Lane coalition crumbled due to infighting and conflict with the humanity they were supposed to protect instead of being defeated by the real enemies.

"Some were severely affected by Commander's disappearance and the HQ sending a replacement immediately to prepare for the war against Deus X didn't help. They murdered the new Commander and broke off from Azur Lane while hoarding the Siren technology." Enterprise lowered her head at the end to hide her expression. Adam feels there's more to it that she didn't talk about but he will not ask because she definitely isn't comfortable sharing.

"However, it turn to the worse when a rumor circulated a few days later after Commander's disappearance." She continued. "Everyone knows the Commander is protective of everyone and wouldn't be willing to send anyone to their death and the HQ see this as a sign of weakness as someone who stood as the vanguard for humanity… The rumor said the HQ is the one that eliminated you in favor of a new Commander."

"At that point… it gets too messy. I don't really remember. But I… I…" Enterprise was stuttering as she stared at her hand, shaking and shivering before she grips it to muster up her courage. "I think I lost my mind and… I joined the attack on humans."

Adam could see a black mist appeared around her scrunched up body and he knew what it signifies, the corruption. The memories must have been very traumatic for her. The Enterprise he knew would definitely vow to protect humanity to her very last breath. To see her admit to killing the people she vow to protect, he could see why she is in such a state.

Adam stood up from where he sat and went next to her and lent her a shoulder to rely on and rest her weary mind.

"?" She immediately lifted her body up in surprise but Adam shushed her up and let her lean on his shoulder.

Adam has no experience comforting anyone and basically just copy what he sees from romance anime and TV shows.

"It's alright, I do not blame you." He said as he was never there in that world, to him, it's just a game. He didn't really know what to feel about it and what Enterprise did. However, he doesn't blame her. It's obvious someone malicious had spread the rumor and those shipgirls including Enterprise were manipulated into doing those deeds.

"Thank you. Thank you… You didn't know how relieved it was to hear." She crumbled and fell on Adam's lap instead as he gently ran his hand and fingers along her silky long white hair. In his distracted mind however, he felt jealous that Enterprise's hair remained silky like this even after not washing it for a few days.

"What kind of power is this?" He mumbles in a whisper as he plays with a lock of her hair.

"Did you say something, Commander?" She asked, no longer emotionally unstable as before after she unbottled everything that was troubling her mind.

"Nothing. It must be the wind." Adam said before he felt a sharp glare boring behind his back.

He turned around and saw Winter staring at him with a face that said 'No funny business.' Adam nods and turns his head back to the front before he stares at the sea as he laments what Winter said to him last night.

"It's not that I am against you finding another woman since you think here is quite vigorous." Winter said as she was giving him a handjob. "I don't think the three of us is enough and considering how you are able to break Agent's body, that's concerning and we aren't against having more sister's." She sighed. "It's just… we had been married for not even a month ago and for you to immediately find a new woman is… it felt unpleasant. That's all I can say. Do you understand?" She asked.

Adam nodded frantically as Winter masterfully edged him throughout the long conversation with her lithe and dexterous hands and fingers that she trained for almost her entire lifetime to wield a sword. Her incredible hand technique kept him constantly on his toes for the past half an hour before she ended the talk and ended it with her mouth.

Remember the pleasure from last night made his little brother feel a little rigorous and Enterprise undoubtedly felt the bulge under her head. But she kept her silence and enjoyed the moment.
