Chapter 9 - Battle for the Third Floor

• The Monitor Room •

The monitor room is in the basement of a building not far from the building where I'm going to take this test.

It is a large room with walls, floor, and roof made entirely out of dark gray concrete, the room was filled with a row of chairs enough for a class of our size.

But the most significant addition to the room is the gigantic screen that stood out of place inside the relatively modest room.

The gigantic monitor screen is filled with many smaller screens showing live footage of every corner of the building where the first pairs would be doing their trial.

From there, the teacher and fellow students can watch every part of the battle from a safe distance and give their commentary and thoughts on each battle.

"EVERYONE FROM BOTH TEAMS ARE GIVEN A WIRELESS TRANSCEIVER TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR TEAMMATE NO MATTER WHERE THEY ARE." All Might began explaining to the class.

"I HAVE ONE TOO, TO GIVE INSTRUCTION AND IN CASE OF EMERGENCIES.

THEY'RE ALSO GIVEN THE BUILDING'S SCHEMATIC TO HELP THEM NAVIGATE INSIDE IT, PLUS THIS!" All Might then pulls out a roll of white tape with two of his fingers, making the thing look smaller than it actually is.

"THIS IS A CAPTURE TAPE! IF A HERO MANAGES TO SUCCESSFULLY WRAP THIS AROUND A VILLAIN, THE THE VILLAIN WRAPPED WILL BE DECLARED CAPTURED AND IS PROHIBITED TO MOVE ON THEIR OWN AND PHYSICALLY INTERFERE IN ANY OTHER ENGAGEMENT." He explains.

After All Might finished explaining, my classmates began thinking about the advantages and the disadvantages each team had.

"So at the start of the match, the Hero Team is going to be at a disadvantage since they didn't know exactly where the nuke is." Commented Tokage

"But at any engagement, the Villain Team are going to be at a disadvantage since they could be "Captured" by the Heroes using the Capture Tape, without needing to be actually neutralized first." Added Rin.

"All Might-sensei! What if the Villains manage to wrap the Hero with their own Capture Tape?" Ask another student named, Juzo Honenuki... Eren?

"MAGNIFICENT OBSERVATION YOUNG HONENUKI!

IN ANY CASE, WHEN A HERO MANAGES TO GET WRAPPED BY THEIR OWN OR THEIR TEAMMATE'S CAPTURE TAPE, THEN THE WRAPPED HERO IS ALSO GOING TO BE DECLARED CAPTURED!

REMEMBER YOUNG HERO, AGAINST A VILLAIN, ESPECIALLY EXPERIENCED ONES, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FAIR FIGHT, ALWAYS EXPECT THEM TO USE ANY TRICK THAT THEY HAVE TO WIN AGAINST YOU, INCLUDING TURNING YOUR OWN WEAPONS AGAINST YOU" Answered All Might.

While all of this talk is going on, me and Kendo are still on the top floor of our building, constructing our plan for this test and making sure not to overlook anything.

And because of my knowledge of their Quirk and personality, this plan may have gone just a little over the top.

• Test Building ~ 6th Floor ~ 4 Minutes before planning phase is over •

"Wow, this schematic is surprisingly detailed, we should memorize it so we could have an advantage against them-... Heroes. Hehe~ it's weird, I've never really be the villain in this kind of play before" Said Kendo

"I never really got into playing Heroes in the first place, I guess child me didn't find the fun in it" I respond to her.

We had just managed to reach the 6th floor, the very top floor of the building we were assigned with, and apparently, where the "nuclear warhead" is located.

And boy that thing is way larger than I thought it would be, I mean, damn even some countries in Africa have nukes smaller than this, it's straight out of the first Cold War era.

"And there's the objective... Damn"

"That's, quite bigger than I initially suspected, this changes some things"

I turned my head at her exclamation.

"You already had a plan?" I asked.

"Well somewhat, I was thinking about moving the bomb into a room to conceal it, and then we both will go down and engage them in combat.

In a case where we both failed to stop the Heroes, the concealed position of the bomb will buy us more time for the timer to run out." She laid out the basics of her plan while I listened attentively.

Thinking about her plan for a moment, I found a slight miscalculation inside it.

"Nah, in two-v-two, we wouldn't be able to face both of them at the same time," I said with a slight sigh in my voice.

I have seen their combined power before, back at the entrance exam when we were saving other participants from the fallen rubbles, a single punch from Tetsutetsu while Shoda was holding to him allowed Shoda's Quirk to blow straight up chunks of buildings to smithereens.

"How so?" She asked me.

While she has seen both of them using each of their own Quirks respectively, she hasn't seen them using them in tandem.

"They're too strong together, Tetsutetsu's strength paired up with Shoda's Quirk would be too much for us to handle at the same time, we'll need to separate them if we want to win against them in a fight" I answered her.

I then began telling her a short recollection of how Shoda and Tetsutetsu saved multiple people who were trapped under pieces of ruble at the entrance exam.

She then began pondering about what I just said, thinking of a way to seperate the two of them and fighting them one by one.

"If they also know that, it means they're probably going to stick together the whole way here" She said contemplatively.

I nodded at her in agreement, but a smile quickly make an appearance on my face as I turned to face her.

"And I just have the perfect trap in mind for that scenario, but you'll have to hold the both of them alone for it to work" I told her.

"... Ehh?! " Well I guess the reaction is understandable.

• Right Outside of Test Building ~ 0 Second after planning phase is over •

Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu's POV

"THE PLANNING PHASE IS OVER! THE HERO TEAM HAVE 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE TIMER RUNS OUT AND THE BOMB EXPLODES! DEFUSE THE BOMB BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!" All Might declare over our transceivers.

And so without wasting any time, me and Shoda immediately enter the building from the main door.

While creeping around the halls while staying vigilant I began to recite the plan that we have come up with during the previous phase of the test.

• Right Outside of Test Building ~ 4 Minutes before planning phase is over •

"Stick together and don't get caught by the two of them, we could theoratically over power them if we are fast enough, knowing Honshiro's power and Kendo's intelligence, they will try and use everything in their power to pick us off one by one" Shoda laid out his thought to me.

I nodded my head in agreement, Kendo is evidently smarter than most of us, and Honshiro's has enough power to stop that Zero-pointer in the entrance exam all on his own.

"So I say we should avoid facing them head on and try to caught them from behind, this building is filled with cross-sections so there should be lots of blind spots for us to sneak from" He said.

Thinking of his plan and enacting it in my mind to try and find a possible weakness in said plan, i manage to see a possible out look.

"What about traps? They got five minutes to prepare for us, they could create a trap to catch us off guard" I told him my concern.

He nodded in understanding and began thinking of ways to counter a possible traps that they could've set up.

But after a moment of thinking, Shoda comes to a conclusion.

"I can't think of any way to set up a trap in their position other than this, do not fight them if Honshiro is not taking his feet off the ground" He said.

I understand the point that he's making, just like back at the entrance exam.

Honshiro would plant his foot to the floor and dig the ground below by growing his bone from his feet, completely concealing it's movement and trajectory simultaneously.

"I don't know if it's also the case with him or not, but I'm guessing not"

If he can impale a robot meters away from himself then I doubt he is blind to the location of his own bones.

But as long as we're out of his sight he shouldn't be able to hit us with that attack. Other than that, I could use my own Quirk to resist most of his attack as long as he doesn't go overboard with it.

" *Shudder* Let's hope he doesn't use that ultimate move on us huh Shoda? " I ask him.

"Yeah, and let's hope he doesn't have any more tricks up his sleeves"

• Test Building ~ 2nd floor ~ Present time ~ 11 Minutes until battle phase is over •

"Stairway to the third floor's clear, let's go Tetsutetsu" Shoda signalled to me.

Moving swiftly through the stairway we both began began to creep throughout the floor, checking rooms, peeking corners, making sure that we don't get caught off guard by Kendo and Honshiro.

But ever since arriving at the third floor, we have been on an edge the whole time because of one simple fact.

"The roof is cracked, it's been tempered with" The both of us realized at the same time.

This is not good, the roof of this whole floor is cracked, there's no place on the entire floor where the roof is not cracked, it seems like Shoda's prediction had been correct.

"This is bad, Honshiro had probably filled the whole roof over us with his bones, this whole floor is a giant trap" Shoda whispers through our transceivers.

With the whole roof being filled with bones, that means we're probably done if we were spotted on this floor just once.

"Wait, but this confirms that he can't sense through his bones right? Considering he hasn't deploy his trap on us the moment we're in the middle of the floor." I pointed out.

Shoda nodded his head before slowly peeking at another hallway before signalling me to follow him, our previous pace had been severely hampered after ascending to this floor, to the point where we're began worrying that we wouldn't have enough time to reach to the top floor.

Now it is my turn to peek another hallway, this is the one leading to the stairs to the next floor, but after peeking just a little I immediately retract my head from the wall and went to whisper to Shoda of my sighting.

"Orange hair, just several meters in front of the stairs maybe" I tried to whisper as quietly as I could so that the orange haired girl wouldn't hear our conversation.

Shoda, after looking from the corner for some time himself noticed something important.

"She's alone, as far as I could see, or maybe Honshiro's hiding somewhere" He noted.

"Either way, let's ambush her while she doesn't see us" Shoda suggests calmly.

...

"What?! Oh no way! That's so unmanly bro!" I whispers as quietly as I upsetly could.

I mean, two guys ambushing a girl who's all alone in an empty hallway? How does that sounds to you?

Yeah that's what I thought.

I mean sure it's tactically sound considering the situation, but we don't even know where Honshiro is, he could be on the next floor or at the highest floor for all we could guess, he could be just standing on the middle of the stairs just waiting for us to just rush there.

"But, still, it's not even not manly anymore, it's unmanly"

"What? Dude- Tetsutetsu, listen to me, the manliest thing a hero could do in this situation, is to stop the Villain so that they couldn't hurt anymore people." Shoda convinced me.

Right, right, we're in a we're in a simulation, we need to think like a professional Hero.

"Get it together Tetsutetsu, what would Silver Chariot do in your place?"

He would apprehend the Villain as quick as possible to not make them suffer of fighting for too long, and is unable to harm anymore people.

"Yeah that's it! "

Coming out of my dilemma I once again face Shoda with my newfound certainty of my actions, ready to give it my all.

"Alright, I won't hold back, to respect the dignity of my friends and to act as a professional Hero." I whispers proudly.

"Excellent, now the moment she look away from us I''m going go use my Quirk on you then you'll jump across the room to immediately reach her and use your Capture Tape on her, if that fail? Just hold her off until I can get there so we can team up on her. Understood?" Ordered Shoda.

Nodding my head in confirmation, we began to wait for that perfect moment to strike.

We watch in silence as Kendo began to grow more and more fidgety as the time passes, perhaps she could sense our intention all the way from her position, perhaps not and this sense of dread is starting to get me.

But we don't care, all we care right now is waiting for that one moment.

And then finally, after what felt like an eternity, she turns her attention from the middle corridor and turn to her left on and began walking to our opposite direction.

'Perfect!'

'Perfect!'

Immediately Shoda touched my right shoulder as I began to lower myself into a pouncing position.

Turning my body into steel I could feel my body growing stronger as my skin began to change colors to glimerly metallic.

Gone now the weakness and frailty of the flesh, transitioning to the strength and certainly of steel.

Wait why am I talking like this.

"Go" Shoda signalled.

*Thump!*

*Crack*

The first leap took me half way to her, no doubt her senses are trained as from the moment my feet leave the ground her glimmering teal eyes are already trained on me.

But instead of enlarging both of her hands as I had anticipated, she instead only enlarged her left hand, while her other hand went up towards her transceiver on her right ear.

"So she's planning to inform Honshiro the moment she spot us?"

A very good plan, so that's why she's facing the middle hallway most of the time.

So that she can react to me and Shoda coming up from either side of the left or right without having to turn her whole body or risk facing away from us when we appears.

"But it's already too late the moment she look away"

As my feet touch the floor for the second time, that's when Shoda finally activated his Quirk.

"Twin Impact: Boost!" Shoda screamed.

*Kaboom!*

*Crash!*

In just a single moment, I've propelled myself from halfway towards her, to right in front of her face.

The floor cracked and collapsed from the sheer power of my stomps leaving a gaping hole in the middle of the hallway.

I swung my now steel cased fist to deal a decisive blow to her center of mass, but once again I was impressed by her reaction time.

In just the moment it takes for me to went for my second jump and swung my arm back, she instinctively used that little amount of time to cover most of her body with her already enlarged left hand to protect herself.

But it wasn't a total lost for me, because her body isn't the only thing that I'm aiming for.

*Crash!*

Our bodies collided with great force, the momentum of my body causing her's to also got flung back, hurtling both if us toward the wall of the building.

But in that short moment of contact I managed to reach and grab for my second target.

*Crush!*

The cracking and crumbling sound of concrete, metal, and plastic filled the dust filled room.

I heave and cough in order to get out as many dust from my lungs as possible, not far in front of me Kendo doing pretty much the same.

Kendo looks confused for a moment, as the unfamiliar sound cannot be associated with the sound of destroyed walls that she anticipated.

Until her right arm finally reaches up to her right ear.

"My transceiver!" She realised.

A toothy smile grow out of me as the last grumps of the once communicating devise fell out of my hand.

"Now's time we stop your evil plan here, Villain!" I say to her, deciding to play my part as a Hero with comedic intention.

Her own mouth turned to a smile as she realised my attempt at acting, and she responded by playing a part of her own.

"You may have cut my means of communicating Hero! But your victory is not yet assured, so don't you hope for me to surrender!" She said with a little flare in an atempt to appear more sinister and villainous.

The sound of Shoda's rapid footsteps came from behind me as he run around to hole on the floor that I had created.

"Nice job Tetsutetsu! Now let's capture her and go find Honshiro and the bomb! " He said from behind me.

I saw her expression turn worried for a second, but only for a second.

Her teal eyes began to be filled with the fire of determination as she enlarges both of her fist and took on a fighting stance.

That smile that radiates confidence and certainty never left her face as she faced both me and Shoda in a two v one fight.

She truly is amazing.

• Test Building ~ 6th floor ~ Right before the ambush ~ 10 Minutes until battle phase is over •

Kentaro Honshiro's POV

"Hmm~ What's taking them so long?" I grumbled to myself.

Here I am, five minutes since All Might's declaration of the start of the battle phase, bored out of my skull.

At first I was worried that I won't have enough time to properly grow out my bones hastily across the entire roof of the third floor, causing me to work in quite a hurry.

But, after realising that my hastened work was a mistake, as when Kendo reached the third floor the whole goddamned ceiling is cracked.

Basically just giving a giant sign saying "Hey this place is booby trapped! Better be ready!"

Save to say that Kendo is not happy with that part, but I managed to convinced her that it will serve as some sort of intimidation to slow them down even more.

That managed to calm her down just a bit, but she's still doesn't like that our plan might just already been compromised by our own error.

So in case of that, we created several contingencies for a worst case scenario.

The worst case is, in a situation where I am unable to communicate with Kendo, I shall call her names three consecutive times, and she failed to respond I will activate the trap regardless if she's actually incapacitated or not, not just the entirety of the third floor, but also the fourth and fifth shall be covered in bones, and I will block the staircases to further slow them down in case that my trap failed.

But before I activated the trap, I need to wait for three minutes, if she failed to contact me back after I called her name three times I will wait three minutes before activating the trap.

For that scenario, we are assuming a case where her transceiver is broken or destroyed in an engagement with them which will not allow her to communicate with me.

If that scenario came to pass, she needs to use that three minutes to go to the stairs and use her Quirk to enlarge her fist and hit the walls or floor in a specific pattern, that will allow me differentiate between her fighting and her giving me the signal.

As I could feel through my bones, her hitting any walls and floor hard enough I would be able to feel the massive vibrations through my bones that I spread throughout the ceiling of the third floor.

If she manages to give me the signal, then I will activate the trap only to cover the third floor, assuming that she manages to keep them from entering the stairway.

But now, even after all that planning I still feel unsure with it.

'What if she's still fighting after the three minutes runs out? She already agrees to accept the consequences, but others? They'll see me attacking my own teammate just to catch my opponents off guard'

That thought kept going through my head over and over, but for the time I put it on the back of my mind, instead choosing to focus on the present and let my future self deal with it.

But all the while I was lamenting about the future, an unknown force hit the floor of the third floor hard enough for me to feel it took me from my line of thought.

"What's that?! Kendo? No she should be guarding right in front of the stairway, this is coming form the hallway to her right, that's gotta me them" I thought to myself.

Five minutes just to finally reveal themselves, it seems like my intimidation tactic works quite well, maybe, I don't know.

But before I could celebrate on that small success, a second, way stronger force shook the entire floor with it's power alone, and I could feel that it created a gaping hole to the floor below it.

Not long after that this unknown causes another massive vibrations, this time at the far end of the hallway left of the stairway.

"So that second force was him propelling himself to reach Kendo, fuck!"

"Kendo come in! Kendo come in, respond to me!" I called for her.

My mind went slightly erratic, with countless scenarios filling my head of what could have happened.

'Is she incapacitated?! Is she still fighting?! Shit! The plan!'

But I managed to calm myself a little, we have a plan for this, let's just hope that it works.

"Ok here we go.

Kendo!

.

Kendo!

Kendo!

With every second that passed, a sense of dread slowly began to crept itself into my psyche.

*Rumble* A sudden vibrations, barely enough to enter my perception, rubbles moving?

"Movement?!"

A soft thud, and then after that a series of vibration came from all over the hall way, numerous and and random.

"Fighting? Good, she's still there"

I let out a mental sigh as I continue my counting, the only thing I can do now is either wait for her signal or I finished my counting.

• Test Building ~ 3rd floor ~ Present time ~ 9 Minutes until battle phase is over •

Itsuka Kendo's POV

"Too strong!"

My punches could barely hurt Tetsutetsu's steel hard skin and Shoda's speed is overwhelming me beyond my reaction speed.

Plus them both fighting side by side?

"I'm getting pummeled over here!"

Connecting my enlarged fist together I blocked another boosted punch by Tetsutetsu, hurtling me across the hallway, again.

I needed to get to the stairway and give Honshiro the signal before he finished counting, which he probably already started and I don't know how much time I had left.

If only I could NOT get blown around like some rag doll then maybe I could have done exactly that but NO, here I am flying through the air, again, going from one end of the room to another, I'm starting to regret not following his original plan but instead alter it so that I could fight.

"I need to think of something, someway for me to get to the stairs, but how?!"

Hurtling through the air I use my hands to slow my momentum down and to face both Tetsutetsu and Shoda again, their synergy seemingly perfect and unbroken just from the way they move and position themselves against me.

The first to attack is Shoda.

He stomp the floor with both of his legs before immediately activating his quirk after, launching him up and left, sticking himself to the wall to my right, before repeating it again, and again.

Jumping from wall to floor to ceiling, switching at random time and directions trying to throw me off and misdirect me, but all of my experiences in my family's dojo and my numerous times on martial arts tournament, I wasn't about to be thrown off by his attack.

There was no second where his body is not on the sight of my eyes, years of training have paid off handsomely, just as my parents said.

"Thanks Mom, Thanks Dad" I muttered an appreciation under my breath.

Correctly guessing the moment he will strike, I showed him the large palm of my hand to block his coming kick that is powered up even more by his quirk.

Closing that hand and gripping both of his legs I turn my attention to face Tetsutetsu.

Already reeling up an overhand right, I was forced to took a step backwards in order to avoid being hit right on my jaw, but unexpectedly, Tetsutetsu use the momentum from his own punch to kept going forward, quickly rotating his entire body to reel up another right hand, but this time I don't have the time to react.

But instead of aiming for my body or head which had already move away from stepping backward, my right arm which contains Shoda are still in the relatively same position as before.

*Punch!*

The fingers of my right hand suddenly weakens as the muscles of my forearm are hit by something more akin to a sledgehammer that a human hand.

But then again this is Tetsutetsu, the class's local musclehead with muscles almost as hard as his own metal skin when his Quirk is activated.

Shoda, feeling my grip weakening, immediately break free from my constraints using his quirk to jump away from my reach.

After breaking free, he and Tetsutetsu immediately comes after me again, this time side by side, which ment only one thing for me.

Knowing that my right arm are now as good as out of commission right now, Shoda immediately went and attack me from my right forcing me to turn my whole body in order to properly face defend against him, leaving me very open for Tetsutetsu to attack.

Quickly getting put on the defensive, I tried my best to keep up with the two of them but they're just too synchronized.

*Slam!*

"Ugh! I need to find a way to get to the stairs"

Flying in the air and hitting the ground, again, I pulled myself back up as quickly as I can, but thankfully it seems like I'm not the only one who's running out of gas, at least for now.

Whenever the both of them began to get tired, they would launch me across the room to make some distance for them to breathe, it seems like their stamina is not as good as mine, at least I know Shoda's is since he's clearly beginning to pant, but Tetsutetsu looks as eager as ever, even with all the sweats that began to cover his entire body.

Even his muscles began shining even more from all the sweats, looking more pronounced, and more detailed, and more..a-and-

"Aaarrggh! I need to finish this quick!"

In a midst of all of my frustration, an idea, a brilliant one, a one in a million type of idea flow out of my brain like a fountain of all ideas.

So simple yet so ingenious at the same time, the answer was already in front of me all along, right from the very start.

"Why don't I use them to throw me to the stairs?! Yes!!!"

"Hmph!" I nod to myself.

Now, with my newfound confidence in my plan, without hesitation I suddenly rush towards the both of them.

Not expecting me to attack so suddenly, they both jump to seperate directions, evading my sweeping strike from my left hand.

But after this, at all times I position myself directly between Tetsutetsu and the stairway, no matter how far we moved in the hallway, I will be directly between Tetsutetsu and the stairway, no matter what.

Punching and kicking I tried to force them to fight back, to spent their tank faster, just a few more attacks and they'll finally use that move again.

And after a few more seconds passed, it happened.

"Tetsutetsu!" Shoda signaled.

Oh and I know exactly what this means.

"Yes!" Tetsutetsu responded.

My victory.

Placing his hand on Tetsutetsu's back, they both began their advance against me now as unison.

With a single punch thrown by Tetsutetsu I once again entered a state of momentary flight, but now instead of my body crashing violently against the wall or the floor, this time it's against the stairs just as I intended.

"Arrrggghhh!"

Mm~hm all according to keikaku, i'm definitely not wailing in unaccounted feeling of pain from hitting the stairs at probably the speed of a train.

"Kendo! Are you alright?!" Tetsutetsu, ever the compassionate asked in worry.

But despite all the pain, I just couldn't keep the smile off my face, the satisfaction of a plan going so well could not be compared to anything else.

Enlarging my left hand I began to hit the wall beside me in a pattern of a jingle that everybody (somehow) knew, yet not much know of it's name.
