Chapter 6 - A wasted effort- II

Madam varya only allowed ten minute breaks and after every three hours. For her, it was important for a woman of Katrina's placement to have the ability to sit still for hours. Even if it meant to control the excretal urges one might have.

Natya and she had received a ten minute break that they had chosen to spend in the kitchen with Mika, I am maid employed by the housekeeper Olga.

"Here," Mika pushed two bowls of fruit in front of the girls, "I cut up fruits for the two of you."

"Thank you! I was starving." Natya pierced her fork to the first piece before putting it in her mouth. "Hmm, sweet."

Katrina repeated the action and tested it for herself. It was sweet.

"Girls," the housekeeper Olga entered the kitchen and stood in front of them behind the counter, "Master Orlov is going to be home in twenty minutes. You will be having lunch with him."

"Have they been told?" Natya asked and Olga nodded.

Katrina's eyes lowered to the fruit in front of her. It was going to be embarrassing.

"Maybe," Natya whispered once Olga was gone, "he would not remember."

"It would be impossible for him to not."

"Well then, he may just ignore it and move on." Natya shrugged and glanced at the entrance for her teacher. Thankfully, none of them were outside of the study rooms.

The governesses preferred to stay in the study rooms, unless it was asked of them to come outside. The house was not entirely pleasant to live in and one might encounter things that were not exactly.. worth watching.

It had happened with her previous teacher and she had to be disposed of and not in a very kind way. Madam Varya and The other one knew now knew better.

They dressed in better clothes, more suited and presentable at the lunch and headed downstairs. Her father was not here yet, so they occupied their seats at the dining table.

"How much longer?" Natya asked, appearing quite patient but Katrina knew that her ADHD mind was jumping off the rails.

"Just a bit more. I think I had his car when I was coming down the stairs."

Natya leaned in to keep her head on Katrina's shoulder. She snuggled in which Katrina placed her cheek on Natya's head.

For a moment there, she inhaled in peace, without anything or any need to be perfect. It was just existing and it was wonderful.
