Amelia stood at the alter, her heart racing she could feel the eyes of best friend and father on her but she couldn't bring herself to look at them. She knew that they were waiting for the groom to arrive but he was nowhere to be seen. The minute ticked by and still there was no sign of him.
She stood there for what felt like an eternity, her mind racing with thought and emotion. Finally she heard a voice "miss , he said "we need your signature, my boss won't be coming but he had already sign" she took a deep breath and made her decision.
As she signed the last letter of her name, she felt a strange sense of finality. It was as if she was closing a door on one chapter of her life and opening a strange one. She looked up at the priest and he gave her a strange kind smile "congratulations, Mrs Brown, he said. The words felt hollow to Amelia, she had not wanted this marriage but there was no turning back now. She gathered her things and walked on to jack, feeling lost and alone.
Amelia got to Jack, immediately jack asked "are you alright? He asked concern written all over his face "I'm fine" she said, her voice sounding unconvincing even to her own ear.
Jack shook his head "you're not fine and you know it" he said, "well the deed has already been down, I just have to move on and get over my sadness ".
Amelia looked and saw the guy who gave her the certificate to sign coming over
"Ma, it time to go home".
