I stared at Marcus, trying to make sense of what he had just told me. I wasn't sure if I could believe him, My father had been absent from my life for as long as I could remember. What reason could he possibly have to wanting to protect me now? Why should I believe you? I asked Marcus.

I held my breath as Marcus reached into his pocket and pulled out a small envelope he handec it to me and said ' everything you need to know is in here, please take some time to read it before you make any decisions.
I hesitated unsure of what to do, I wanted to know more but I was afraid of what I might find out.
Finally I took the envelope from Marcus and I slipped it into my bag. ' thank you' i said my voice barely a whisper. I turned to leave but Marcus stopped me, 'wait' he said
'i know this is alot to take in, he said but I need you to promise me one thing, please don't contact your father until you've read everything in the envelope, you need to know the whole story before you decide what to do next".
I hesitated for a moment, then nodded ' I promise ' I said 'thank you' Marcus said ' I know this is difficult, but it's for your own safety, I'll be in touch, with that, he turned a f walked away. I stood there for a moment, wondering what I had just agreed to .
With a trembling hand, I reached into my bag and pulled out the envelope.
As I looked at it, I took a deep breath and opened it, what I saw inside made my heart stop.
