Chapter 5 - Tyrant

Agraz was left a little dissatisfied with his failed evolution attempt. He started thinking about his recent fight.

My primary attack weapon is my claws. Other than that, the Strength skill has also increased my physical strength. So I should also be able to overwhelm my opponents with my raw physical strength alone.

However, nothing is certain. If I encountered an enemy that I couldn't defeat, I should be able to flee using the Dash skill.

That reminds me, I forgot my bagpack somewhere. Well, it doesn't really matter. I no longer require those things for survival now that I have evolved.

Hmm... Now, I should go and kill some zombies.

Agraz left the coffee shop after some odd thoughts. It was the middle of the day and the sun was shining warmly.

Agraz looked around him and realized that he did not know where to go. So, he chose a random direction and started sprinting. He thought that it was a good time to test his agility and tried to sprint with all his might.

Agraz's legs were long and scrawny. However, it left cracks on the asphalt road. The surroundings became blurry like a painting and the scenery kept changing.

While running, Agraz realized that he could not easily change directions. He then attempted to stop his sprint, but accidentally tripped and began rolling down the road.

Agraz quickly inserted both his claws into the ground and began to slide down the road. His claws made a disturbing screeching sound.

He eventually came to a stop after leaving ten deep and long fissures on the asphalt. The accident caused some cuts on his body, but they healed quickly.

That was stupid. I should be more careful when running or else I might end up tripping again. I would not have merely a few shallow cuts if it weren't for the Hardening skill.

However, my speed is extremely fast. It should be on par with a motorcycle. My top speed should be in the range of 120-140 kilometers per hour.

Agraz turned to face the zombies who were sprouting up all around him. There were some from the corner of the street, others from the buildings nearby, and some from the sewers.

Well, now I don't need to look for zombies.

Agraz brandished his claws and once again started the grueling massacre. Slashing with his extremely sharp claws, he began decapitating the zombies around.

[You have slain a Level-2 Zombie!]

[You have obtained 2 Origin Points!]

[You have slain a Level-2 Zombie!]

[You have obtained 2 Origin Points!]

[You have slain a Level-2 Zombie!]

[You have obtained 2 Origin Points!]

Amidst the slaughter, Agraz noticed that there were too many zombies approaching. He also spotted three abnormal zombies sprinting towards him.

Agraz quickly pulled away from the crowd and toward a vacant area. The abnormals arrived, revealing their sharp nails.

One leaped in and swung at Agraz's throat. With a swift dodge, Agraz slashed his claws toward the abnormal's neck. With a clean cut across its neck, the abnormal fell to the ground.

[You have slain a Level-5 Zombie!]

[You have obtained 5 Origin Points!]

Then Agraz spun around to use his own claws to deflect the other abnormal's slash. He blocked the cut, piercing the zombie's neck, then swung upward. The zombie's head separated from its body and turned into chunks of flesh.

[You have slain a Level-5 Zombie!]

[You have obtained 5 Origin Points!]

With a blank expression on his face, Agraz examined the final zombie. The abnormal opened its mouth and let out a jarring scream.

"Gaaahhhhh..."

It then suddenly lunged at Agraz with its nails. Agraz twisted his waist and leaned his upper body sideways to dodge the attack. Then, he leaned forward to pierce his claws into the zombie's neck and decapitated it.

[You have slain a Level-5 Zombie!]

[You have obtained 5 Origin Points!]

[You have leveled up!]

[You have obtained 3 Skill Points!]

I have noticed it before, but it looks like evolution has also enhanced my reflexes and the overall physical coordination of my body.

Agraz was going to carry on the massacre when something crashed behind him. The ground quacked as the shadow of the creature engulfed him. He quickly turned around to confront the monster.

The moment he turned around, Agraz's pupils constricted. It was an enormous, naked zombie. It lacked any reproductive organs, though. The giant stood three meters tall.

The giant's gray muscles protruded. Its body was covered in obvious purple veins. Its arms were horribly out of proportion. The left arm was considerably smaller than the right.

It also had disproportionately large claws. Its claws were gray-white and long and sharp. Its body contained areas where skin was absent. There, red flesh was writhing. There was just a tiny layer of skin covering its exposed heart.

The giant zombie approached Agraz with a stompt of its foot. It swung its massive claws towards him. Agraz hurriedly raised his own claws in front of him. And then it struck.

Agraz was blown away from the clash. He landed some distance away and started sliding down the road. Agraz did not try to slow down, as he began to run at his full speed.

However, the giant did not chase him. It seemed like when the zombie struck him, Agraz also used the Intimidation skill on it.

What the hell? Just when I thought I became sufficiently powerful, this appears. I can't fight that thing. The best option for me is to flee. I didn't think I would use the Intimidation skill in a situation like this.

Agraz began to flee with all his speed. However, he had to come to a halt as a horde of zombies stood in front of him. He spun around in a hurry, but the giant had caught up.

Agraz found himself in an awkward position at this point. There was the giant in front and the horde at the back. He could not fight the giant, as was evident in the first clash. If he wanted to flee, he had to go through the horde. In that case, the giant will easily catch up.

Just as Agraz was contemplating his next move, he heard a cacophony of buzzing noises. His body was thrown away as it became a beehive from all the bullet holes. He looked up, sprawled on the ground.

A short distance from where they were was an armed helicopter. It was aiming at him, gun barrels protruding from its body.

Agraz then saw the giant approach him slowly. This sequence of events confused him. However, he knew that he had to escape quickly or the situation will get worse.

Agraz glanced around, trying to find a way out. That's when he realized that the spot where he had fallen was close to a manhole. He quickly came up with an idea.

Agraz laid still on the ground, appearing motionless. Just when the giant was about to grab a hold of him, he activated the Intimidation skill. The giant's face twisted as he stood rooted to his spot.

Agraz had been pretending to be immobile as he waited for his wounds to heal.

Agraz swiftly stood up and used all of his strength to kick the monster in the chest. The giant just stumbled a few steps behind, but Agraz flew away.

However, it was precisely Agraz's intention. He landed near the manhole cover and swiped his claws at it. The cover was blown away, and Agraz swiftly jumped in.

Just when he landed in the filthy and murky sewage water, reverberating gunfire echoed from above.

Agraz did not waste any time, as he quickly fled from that area. He heard a crashing sound behind him, but he did not turn to look.

Agraz was not worried about the giant catching up, as the sewer was narrow and would restrict the giant's movements. He ran and ran to escape the monster's pursuit.

Above the ground, on the armed helicopter, the pilot spoke in his microphone, "This is Delta-1. We have lost the Rampager. It has broken into the sewer system and escaped the Tyrant's pursuit. Waiting for further commands, over."

A hoarse voice replied from the chopper's speaker, "Monitor the surrounding area and try to locate the Rampager. Don't lose it. I repeat, do not lose it. The Tyrant is to stay on standby, out."

The pilot replied solemnly, "On it, out."
