Emerging from the stairs, Muya's ears caught the unmistakable sound of footsteps, their rhythm abrupt and unexpected. He snapped his head up, his eyes widening in disbelief at the sight before him.
"Erica?" he exclaimed, his voice filled with surprise and recognition. A moment of realization washed over him, and he let out a sigh, his expression shifting to one of understanding.
"No wonder... it makes sense now," he murmured to himself, his head shaking slightly as pieces of the puzzle fell into place.
"Good morning, Muya," I said with a smile, my tone light and cheerful. His response was equally friendly, as he teased me about my influence over his brother, eliciting a giggle from me.
He giggled along, ignoring his brother, who walked beside me, and continued his friendly teasing: "Only you have the power to lock my brother up like that, and I am thankful to have him eat with us, his family."
