With a sneer, the intruder spat on the floor. "Pray it's not the boss himself, or you'd have lost a tooth by now."
Maximilian, clearly shaken but trying to regain control, barked back, "Alright, enough! Who the hell are you, and what do you want?"
The masked man, his voice cold and menacing, growled, "What were his instructions to you?" He dragged Maximilian to the sofa, shoving him down roughly.
"Instructions? From who?" Max asked, trying to buy some time as he adjusted his shirt and caught his breath.
The man leaned closer, his masked face just inches from Max's. "Maximilian, you're supposed to be protecting Miss Erica. What do you think the boss would say if he found out you failed?"
Max scoffed, trying to shake off the intimidation. "Relax. That woman is untouchable. She belongs to the boss."
