CHAPTER TEN
The following morning, I awoke to my mom bidding me farewell as she had an early departure to pick up Purcell from the bus for a business engagement.
"Erica, I must leave now; the bus is about to arrive, and I need to be there. Please remember to keep an eye on my selling space. The prices are listed on each tag. I'll contact you later after I return.
Observing my lack of response, she stressed, "Erica, ensure there are no mistakes; do you understand?" My mom was consistently serious about her business, which funded my education. Familiar with the location of her clothing sales, and recognizing her dedicated efforts, I readily agreed to assist when she sought help—something she only requested during exceptionally busy times.
"Mom, go. I have my head. I'll go. Rest assured," I answered to calm her worry.
