CHAPTER 39
The market was lined with food stands, each with a different dish on display. Katelyn and I had never been to the market. As a result, Rachel suggests that we walk around first to see what piques our interest. Rachel and Mark walked in front of us, holding hands, and gave us a tour, explaining each dish in each food stand we passed.
Katelyn was drawing my hands closer to Rachel and Mark so she could hear everything she was saying clearly. She was eager to explore the market. I'm glad to see her joy. Actually, I feel a little quilty for not being sensitive to what she wants lately and focusing solely on my business rather than her. As a result, I promised myself that I would make her happy during this trip.
Katelyn paused as we passed the ice cream stand, staring at the template in front of the stall. Her eyes sparkled when she saw a large picture of triple chocolate waffle ice cream with various chocolate toppings, one of their best signature dishes, as Rachel said when she realized her best friend's interest.
Katelyn looks at me as if she is asking for permission to eat the ice cream. With her puppy eyes, I can't say no to what she wants. I just nodded my head. She smiled happily when she saw my nod. She grabbed my hands and told Rachel, "I'm going to have them." "Do you want them as well?"
"No. I think I'm going to have that one," Rachel replied. She indicated the food stall next to the ice cream stand. Mark turn his eyes to the food stall to which Rachel had directed him. He smiled as soon as he saw the stall and said, "It's always her favorite."
I was standing in line with Katelyn, holding her hand, to buy the ice cream she desired. Meanwhile, Rachel and her boyfriend waited in line at the next-door donut stand. I felt Katelyn's cold hands and saw her face turn pale about 10 minutes into our line.
When I noticed her body swaying and weakening, I grabbed her. Katelyn passed out when I hugged her. I picked her up and looked for a place to put her down. Rachel quickly reached into her bag and rubbed something on Katelyn's nose. Katelyn blinked and sat up not long after. "Are you okay?" Rachel asked worriedly of Katelyn. Katelyn, you've already passed out twice.
"What does that mean?" I asked, widening my eyes at Katelyn and Rachel as I knew the fact. Rachel wanted to say more, but Katelyn tried to cover her mouth. I drew Rachel's body and held both of her hands so she could tell me what had happened. "Last night she fainted for a while but refused to be seen by a doctor."
She claimed it was simply because she was tired from traveling. She fortunately collapsed on the soft carpet, so she was unharmed. Rachel provided information. I gave Katelyn a sharp look, and she tried to avoid my gaze, saying, " I'm fine. I fainted while waiting in line because it was too hot, don't worry about me. I feel okay" she hugged me. "Do you often experience this?" I asked as I let go of his hug and look into her eyes. "No.Only last night and today," she said, shaking her head. "This has never happened before."
" We're leaving today. Elena will check on you later," I stated firmly. I kept grabbing Katelyn's waist and supporting her because I was afraid she'd still be weak. We ended our plans and went straight to Rachel's house. Rachel assisted Katelyn in packing by pulling out her suitcase and handing it to me. We were eager to return home and say goodbye to Rachel's parents. I also called Alden and told him what had happened, and I asked Elena to come to the house to check on Katelyn.
I told her to sleep on the way home so she wouldn't get tired. Uncle Sam was already waiting for us at the international arrivals gate when we arrived late at the airport. He assisted us in transporting our suitcases. Katelyn continued to sleep in the car and did not awaken when the car came to a stop in front of the house door. I picked her up and placed her on our bed. After changing Katelyn's clothes and cleaning her body, I followed her to bed, bringing this long day to a close.
