CHAPTER 18
Soft lips grazed across my temple. I opened my eyes and gazed up into the face of the man my heart was growing fond of. Richard's expression was soft. He stroked his nose against mine, bearing his weight on his elbows. He placed a gentle kiss on my forehead.
"Good morning sweetheart." he breathed. His breath smelled like toothpaste. He already freshened up.
My insides fluttered at the new pet name he had called me.
"Good morning," I whispered and smiled at him. His answering smile was radiant; reassurance, excitement, and boyish delight combined into one captivating look that would melt the coldest of hearts.
"We leave for New York in an hour."
"Leave in an hour? Why? We weren't supposed to leave until tomorrow."
"I've been informed that my presence is needed immediately at the office."
My heart sunk to my stomach. "Oh."
