At the conference room of the academy, the heads of the academy were all seated, awaiting the reports from the generals:
• " Erian Marshall"
• " Rone Myles"
• "Caplen O'Dwyer"
• "Cormac Strombringer"
• "Roscoe Megier"
The generals marched in with a sense of urgency, marking the start of the meeting. Genreal Erian Marshall began by detailing the portal opening and the battle at the West wing, followed by the appearance of the unknown light energy that vanquished the portal and creatures, noting that there were no lives lost leading to the heads nodding in approval.
Regarding the light energy, Eldrid Asterion, announced that an investigation would be conducted by the heads.
Caelum Nightshade asked out of curiosity "What about the shadeborn devourer?" a question on everyone's minds, though for a different reason.
Rone Myles replied "We never encountered it, and neither did our colleagues who were on the look out for another portal opening.
This left everyone wondering, if the dark entity was still roaming the school and weather the school should be shut down for further clarification.
"Chancellor Asterion, we did find something- or rather, someone: Thorold Blackwood" Roscoe Megier said.
Caelum Nightshade couldn't help but show shock on his face but he quickly masked it to avoid arosing suspicion, and listened intently.
While General Cormac Strombringer and I were patrolling the other part of the academy, we came across a body laying sprawled on the floor, barely breathing, with deep marks and injuries all, it was a bloody mess. He shook his head lightly, still incredulous that Thorold had survived such severe injuries.
I instructed my soldiers to rush him to the academy's El'gorin healing house for treatment; he should be healed in no time.
The Chancellor and the other heads, except Cealum Nightshade, breathed a sigh of relief.
That's all for now Erian Marshall said.
The Chancellor nodded weakly then dismissed them, The generals bowed lightly and marched out, heading back to their quarters.
The Chancellor proceeded with the meeting instructing Lysander Rowan, the Dean of magical arts, to assemble as many mages as necessary to repair the damaged barrier protecting the school.
Meanwhile back at the residential quarters, Phelia's roommates were still reeling from the shock of her passing. Kaelara finally broke the silence, her voice barely above a whisper. The other roommate who discovered that Phelia heart had stopped beating asked, "What are we going to do?".
"We need to report this incident to the authorities."
Lila nodded, still trying to process the events that had unfolded. Zara, the roommate who had discovered Phelia's death nodded as well, her eyes still brimming with tears.
As they slowly rose to their feet, the weight of their grief and uncertainty about what lay ahead hung heavy in the air. Little did they know, their lives were about to become entangled in a complex web of mystery, danger, and intrigue.
As they made their way to the meeting room, the roommates couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in their stomachs. The academy, once filled with laughter and joy, now seemed ominous and foreboding casting a dark shadow over their lives.
Upon arriving at the meeting room, which Lila guessed was probably where they needed to be due to the incident, they were greeted by a stern-looking receptionist who listened to their account of the incident with a mixture of curiosity and concern.
"I'll need to report this to Chancellor immediately," she said, her voice firm but sympathetic. "Please, follow me."
The roommates were led to a large beautifully carved door, where they were asked to wait. The receptionist knocked before entering the meeting room, and the conversations stopped at the interruption.
"Yes Evellyn?" Chancellor Asterion said prompting the receptionist to explain her interruption.
The reception, Evellyn, came out of the meeting room and told the roommates to proceed.
The roommates entered the dimly lit room, which was filled with rows of chairs and a large, ornate table at the front. Chancellor Asterion, flanked by the other heads, stood at the head of the table, his eyes fixed intently on the roommates.
"So, you're the ones who encountered the... shadeborn devourer," he said, his voice firm but measured.
Kealara raised her hand, indicating that she was the one who encountered it.
"I want to assure you that we're taking this very seriously. Can you tell us exactly what happened?."
Kaelara, Lila, and the other roommate took turns recounting their story, leaving out no details, However Kaelara who told a different story about how the shadeborn attacked Phelia and she on their way to their room, leaving Phelia in a deeply injured state internally, but it wasn't able to do much to her as she had the power to repel dark forces to some extent, when the shadeborn suddenly got distracted by something else and went off. Chancellor Asterion listened intently, his expression growing increasingly somber.
She said that so as not to expose Phelia's powers as even she didn't know much about them.
When they finished, he nodded thoughtfully. "I see. Well, I assure you that we'll do everything in our power to investigate this incident and bring those responsible to justice.".
Caelum Nightshade couldn't help but find the story suspicious and decided that he would keep an eye on the girls.
With their heads hung low, they delivered the devastating news "Chancellor..." Kealara began her voice trembling. Lila and Zara couldn't hide the pain in their eyes.
Chancellor Asterion felt a foreboding deep within.
"Phelia, our roommates, is...dead" Kaelara stammered choking back tears.
A collective gasp echoed through the room as everyone struggled to process the shocking news.
A long silence followed broken only by the question that was on everyone's mind.
"Where is the body right now" Sovaria Slivermist asked.
"It's in our room" Lila replied.
"What is the student's full name? " Chancellor Asterion asked, knowing that every student in the academy came from prestigious and powerful families.
Kaelara answered "Phelia Weldher".
Another collective gasp echoed through the room and Chancellor Asterion almost stumbled backward, his eyes wide with shock.
Caelum and some of the other heads were unfamiliar with Phelia's family as they were one of the most secretive and powerful families in the entire magical kingdom.
Fear was evident in the eyes of the Heads who knew Phelia's family. Those who didn't know her family caught the fear from the others, except Caelum, whose face was filled with curiosity.
