Chapter 61 - Adaptation Overkill

(This chapter is extremely high in Mei)

School. Friends. Teacher.

Mei's perception of these three words was a little different from the norm.

Firstly, school, Mei was actually quite curious about what school was, but she didn't dare to ask.

The last time she said she wanted to go to school, she was still in a human trafficking gang.

This was overheard by the others, so right after the words were said, she received the most poisonous beating of her life, and even her affectionate and kind mother looked on with cold eyes.

Since then, Doumei has been terrified of the word "school". She thought it was a very dangerous place.

Mei was also a bit confused about [friends].

According to Feng Su's tone, "friend" was definitely a good word.

However, once upon a time, Mei's mother told her to go and make friends with whichever child she wanted, meaning roughly the same as: we have our eye on this child, go and trick him over.

Mei actually refused once, and when the Boss found out, he shoved a rolling cigarette butt into Mei's ear canal.

She couldn't hear out of her right ear from then on, something she didn't even tell Li Si about.

[Teacher] is the simplest. It refers to a person who teaches knowledge, so it is synonymous with "Li Si".

To sum up, when Feng Su very gently told her: school is a good place, you can make many many friends, but you must listen to the words of the teacher ....

She really mustered up the courage to go to school and was convinced that if she wasn't vigilant, she might not make it back alive.

The first thing she did when she got into the car, Mei first observed the inside of the car.

There were four boys in the back row, with nail-encrusted sticks resting at their feet. By the window sat a rustic girl, constantly swiping her mobile phone.

After a moment, Mei relaxed slightly.

There were no [ringers].

No gangs, no drug dealers, no thieves. The car was safe for now, with only some kids with weapons.

These people noticed her and looked up, surprise rising in their eyes.

Mei put her head down and quickly picked a seat, shrinking into a tiny ball. They quickly lost interest and withdrew their attention.

After a while, the bus pulled up to the curb once more.

This time it was a tall, stout girl who came up, obese and looking like she probably weighed two or three hundred pounds.

As soon as she got on the bus she rushed to hide in a corner, but was still approached by the group of boys.

"Hey fatso, look here." Someone threw a paper ball at her.

The girl gave a demented smile, and Mei immediately understood that she might be intellectually deficient.

There was no telling how many times this kind of bullying had happened, and the boys quickly grew tired of playing along and turned to chatting and bragging with their peers.

Making sure no one was paying attention to him, Mei quietly moved over to the bullied girl, "I'm Mei, what's your name?"

The girl looked up in surprise, seemingly not expecting someone to talk to her. She snapped her fingers, her voice muffled, "My name is Chunxi."

"Good, Chunxi, do you want to earn money." Mei asked.

Chunxi stared, not understanding what this meant.

Mei dryly pulled open his school bag and took out a small bundle of banknotes.

"This is five hundred."

Bean Bud waved the notes in front of her, "You know what money is right?"

Chunxi held a finger in her mouth, saliva dripping from the corner of her mouth.

She thought for a long time and suddenly said, "Roast chicken!"

Mei couldn't help but smile and slowly put the money into her hand.

"Yes, money can buy roast chicken. Do me a favour and I'll give Chunxi money, and Chunxi can buy lots and lots of roast chicken."

Chunxi repeated dully, "Many, many roasted chickens."

Her eyes didn't brighten, but Mei could actually see the joy in her face.

Reaching into her school bag, Mei fumbled around for a while and took out another stunner, "Will Chunxi do me a favour?"

Chunxi nodded her head vigorously in fear that Mei would refuse.

"Then you're my friend. Here, take this. "

Mei handed her the stunner as well, "Hold down this switch and count with me, one, two, three, right. On the count of three, let go, pretty simple, right?"

Chunxi obeyed and did as she was told. Confirming that she wouldn't keep pressing the switch until she electrocuted someone, Mei pointed to the four boys in the back row:

"Go on, hit them with this thing."

Chunxi stared blankly at Mei and then turned her head to the boys, her eyes showing obvious fear.

Mei reminded her, "Roasted chicken, can't get enough of it."

Chunxi gulped, but shook her head firmly. She tossed the money, and the taser, back to Bean Bud, and then huddled in her position without moving.

Mei sighed and reached out to pull something out. The stunner originally had two sets of batteries, and she added three more.

"Watch." In front of Haruhi, she threw down a sentence and walked straight towards the boys.

Coming up behind one of the boys, the taser plunged in.

That boy suddenly trembled and screamed loudly. Electrified for two seconds, Mei hurriedly retrieved the taser, but the other boy could no longer even move his fingers.

The other boys froze, everything happened in an instant, no one knew what happened.

Mei took two quick steps and ran behind Chunxi, shoving the taser over, "See?"

Chunxi's mouth was wide open as she witnessed this.

The boys finally reacted and copied their sticks.

But Haruhi suddenly stood up, and for some reason, she burst into tears, her heavy body lunging forward.

"Uhh!"

"Ah!"

"Damn it, she...ah ah ah ah!"

The carriage was in chaos, and Mei was watching in fascination when she suddenly got a call from Li Si.

She turned her back and picked up the phone, "Hello? What is it?"

"Sister Susu is worried about me? Aigoo, it's fine, I can handle it, it's just school."

"Screaming? Yeah, it's just screams."

As she chatted, she suddenly thought of the word she saw on TV earlier.

"I think it's called ... campus event! Yeah, a campus event."

The voices subsided and were replaced by wailing.

Haruhi came towards her, covered in blood. She had taken several blows to the head, but smiled dementedly, looking very happy.

Mei threw her a roll of bandages and told her to bandage herself, "I'm so busy right now, so why don't I hang up and we'll talk later."

Just then, she heard Chunxi mute, her voice breaking, "Mei...Big Sister, he still, doesn't, doesn't say anything. How, what to do?"

Mei probed and saw that the boys were lying in a heap on the ground. Only the last one still had a bit of backbone, grabbing the back of the chair and holding on to it to keep from collapsing.

Mei understood.

Chunxi's brain capacity was limited, and she clearly wanted to say that someone hadn't succumbed yet, but she couldn't get the meaning across accurately.

That's why she came up with such a sentence without a clue.

"Then hang him, just when I have questions to ask...hey hey hey, telling you to hang him isn't electrocuting him! Will die!" Saying that, Mei hung up the phone.

The audition hotel.

Director Tian drove Zhou Peng away, ended all the audition work, and wanted to go see what Li Si was using the borrowed laptop for.

He found Li Si watching Teletubbies.

Director Tian was shocked, "Soul! We're working at the front and you're here poking around?"

Li Si hurriedly clicked the interface to change to a word document, the director of the field even more angry: "You are here to amuse fools play?"

The two men had a tug of war, Tian asked about the previous phone call.

Li Si said it was Meis from school.

"Oh." Director Tian seemed to understand: "She is still adapting to the new school, right?"

Li Si nodded and shrugged, "Honestly, it seems like the adjustment is all a bit too much."
