Chereads / The Nameless Angel in Naruto / Chapter 34 - #34 The Story of Majaji and her Ghost

Chapter 34 - #34 The Story of Majaji and her Ghost

We all walked through the village and saw the desperation of the people.

We were all deep in thought and an old, emaciated man stood in front of us.

Futa Mane: Hello, you must be the ninja from Konoha that we hired to remove the roots?

Kakashi: That's exactly who we are.

Futa Mane: I warmly welcome you to Tenben.

My name is Futa Mane and I am the mayor of this small village. We have provided accommodation for you, dear ninja from Konoha.

Unfortunately, we don't have much to offer and our water supplies are running low, so I would ask you not to waste too much of the water we provide.

Kakashi: We understand the situation in your village, we will use your supplies sparingly.

Futa Mane: Thank you for your consideration.

It hasn't rained in our village for three years and the fields withered a year ago.

Our well ran dry this year.

The situation has worsened day by day since then.

Some children thought the roots in question were edible, because they resembled potato plants and died a painful death shortly afterwards.

I will show you the plants, follow me.

The mayor led us into his mud hut and showed us the plants. They had purple flowers and were about 20 cm tall.

Sato: We should be able to find and remove them all in the next few days.

Futa Mane: Thank you, we don't want to lose any more children.

Rui come here and show the guests their quarters for the next few days.

A small, emaciated girl about 7 years old came from the back of the hut.

She wore a brown rag bag as her clothing and had short brown hair and green eyes.

Rui: Hello, you came to remove the evil roots?

Kakashi: That's exactly what we're going to do.

Rui: Thanks, I don't want to lose any more friends, because of the roots.

The child's stomach began to rumble.

Brrr.. Brrr..

Futa: Rui, did you share your food with the goat again?

Rui: But Mila was hungry!

Futa: You shouldn't share your food with her, now you're hungry.

Rui: I'm sorry, I'll never do it again father.

Futa: Now show the ninja their accommodation.

Rui: I'll do it immediately.

Rui then took us to another mud hut.

Rui wanted to leave again, after she showed us the hut.

Sato: Hey Rui come over again, I have something for you.

I pulled out a bag of candy and Rui got stars in her eyes.

Rui: Thank you very much, I will also share the sweets with all the children.

Sato: You can also tell the children that anyone who is interested in a little story should come here tonight.

Hinata: Did you hear Sato wants to tell a story, that means we'll see his magic again.

Rui: What magic?

Kakashi: You have to know Sato here is very well known in Konoha for his stories, no one could see through his tricks and that's why they are spoken of it as magic.

People even call him the Wizard Prince.

Rui: Cool, I'll tell everyone, I promise!

Sato: Thank you Rui and we'd best get to work with the roots.

Hours passed and our team had removed about half of all the roots around the village and we were quite sweaty from the heat.

Sakura: I've never sweated so much and the worst thing is, we only have 10 liters of water and even half of it is used up, because Mara was dying of thirst.

That means I have to stink, until we get back to Konoha.

Sato: We all stink a bit, wait a minute, I'll make some water for you to wash and for the others too.

I collected some water from the humidity and gave it to Sakura in a large jug.

Sakura: You are my hero Sato, thank you.

We then all freshened up and the first children in the village came for the story.

After half an hour all the children arrived and I brought them into our hut.

Sato: Did you all get something sweet from Rui?

Children: Yes!

Sato: Well, then who wants to hear a story.

"We all want", called the children.

Of course my team was also in the room.

Sai, Mara,Sakura and Kakashi had only heard stories from the village, about my wedding and were very excited to see it for themselves.

I placed a candle in the middle of the room and sat in front of all the children, so that everyone could see me.

I then lit the candle with a fire on my finger.

The next moment the room went dark and only the candle and I could be seen.

The smoke from the candle rose into the room and showed the outline of a country.

Sato: I am here today to tell you the story of Majaji.

But the story doesn't begin with Majaji, but with a little boy whose sister got sick.

Once upon a time in a continent called Africa, was a little boy named Philippe, whose sister fell very ill and urgently needed a doctor.

Philippe's family didn't actually come from Africa, but from Europe another continent.

Philippe's parents were traders who came to Africa for business.

But Philippe's sister became ill and since his parents were not from this continent, they did not know about the illness and could not help his sister.

So the parents looked for a doctor who could treat their daughter.

Philippe's parents found a doctor nearby and went to see him with their children.

When they arrived, Philippe's mother told Philippe to play outside the door for a bit, until the doctor examined his sister.

Philippe did this and stayed in front of the building, when he saw another girl wearing a necklace with predatory teeth around her neck.

The necklace had an ivory sun with a small ruby in the center of the sun.

Philippe: Your necklace is really pretty, can I wear it? I'll give you my apple for it too.

The girl stared at him and said:

"Here take the necklace ghost, but please spare me."

They called him a ghost, because all people in Africa had black skin and since Philippe's skin was white, they thought he was a ghost.

Philippe then said: "I'm not a ghost and I don't want to hurt you either, I'm here because my sister is sick and needed a doctor, by the way my name is Philippe."

Girl: So your sister is by my dad and you're not a ghost.

She stood up and touched Philippe's face.

Girl: You are really not a ghost, then give me the apple, my name is Majaji by the way.

The girl started smiling and Phillipe fell in love with the girl.

He gave her the apple and she gave him the necklace and she bit up from the apple.

The next, her father ran out and knocked the apple out of her hand.

The father asked his daughter what had gotten into her?

He said: "You know you can't eat normal food."

Majaji said: "I know dad, but my new friend wanted to wear my necklace and he gave me the apple for it."

Philippe said that he was sorry for giving her the apple and that he didn't know that Majaji wasn't allowed to eat the apple.

Majaji vomited the next moment and said: "You see, Dad, it's okay again."

Philippe then wanted to give her the necklace back, but Majaji said:

"Keep the necklace, it looks good on you ghost."

From that day on, Philippe came to the village every day to see Majaji, even after his sister had long since recovered.

His love for Majaji grew more and more, but due to her illness, Majaji became weaker and weaker and he was afraid that she would die and he would then no longer be able to see her.

So Philippe told the girl the truth.

Philippe was not a normal boy, but an angel who was commissioned by God to guide the humans and that he would always be reborn.

He offered to save her, she just had to make a blood pact with him and then he could grant Majaji a wish.

Majaji agreed, but Majaji wanted something different with the pact.

She wanted everyone else to get well, because she wanted to help the people, who came to her father every day and no longer had hope to recover.

Philippe began to cry when he heard about her wish and knew that he could no longer save her.

Majaji took Philippe in her arms and kissed him.

Majaji was given the ability to cure any disease with rain, but she herself was not cured and so the years passed and Philippe saw Majaji getting weaker and weaker and dying after 4 years.

He couldn't bear her death and now traveled all over Africa and everywhere he went, it started to rain, on his way he heard stories that wars had broken out, because of the remaining rainwater from Majaji. The kings of the country wanted the water for themselves and so many people died in the wars.

And Philippe lost trust in the humans, because they trampled on Majaji's dream.

Philippe still wore Majaji's necklace and so stories spread about the ghost, who brings rain and wore a necklace in the shape of a sun.

Years passed and the little boy had now become a man.

At some point he couldn't cry anymore and so he ended his journey and from then on lived in a mud hut he built himself, not far away from a small village.

But one day the mayor of the village came to his door.

The mayor shouted, "Oh great ghost, please give us the rain again, please it hasn't rained in years and we need your help."

Philippe went to the door and said:

"I can't give you any more rain, because you would kill each other for it again!"

But the mayor didn't go away and said: "Please, great ghost, we'll give you everything we have to eat and drink, just let it rain again, so that our children don't die of thirst!"

Philippe replied: "I don't trust you humans anymore and now get away!"

At that moment Philippe's hut collapsed behind him.

The mayor replied: "We can also provide you with shelter, just please let it rain again!"

Philippe went to the village with the mayor and the mayor's daughter brought Philippe something to eat and drink and placed him in a little hut.

After seven days it still wasn't raining again and the mayor's daughter, who brought Philippe something to eat and drink every day, came to Philippe and said:

"I'm sorry, Oh great ghost, but we have no more food or water to offer to you.

But I want everyone to be happy again."

She took out a knife and wanted to slit her wrists, so that Philippe could drink her blood as a sacrifice.

Philippe saw this and snatched the knife from her hand and said: "You are just like her, like my beloved Majaji."

Philippe started to cry and it started to rain again in the village.

He took Majaji's necklace and hung it around the girl's neck and said: "From today on, you are the new Majaji !"

To this day there are Africans who paint themselves white to imitate the ghost and perform a mourning dance with offerings for the rain and as for Majaji, she became a mystical legend and there are still girls every now and then who are born with her ability.

I let the room illuminate and all the kids in the room were crying and I reached into my bag and pulled out a necklace.

Sato: That in my hand is the necklace of Majaji. I will now put it around the child who first started crying at my story.

I hung the chain around Rui's neck and Rui's tears fell on the necklace.

Rui: Where did you get the necklace from?

She said as her tears continued to fall.

Sato: That's a secret.

I then cleared the smoke in the room and the children saw that it was raining outside.

Children: The angel made Rui the Majaji.

Sato: It looks like the angel has accepted your tears as a sacrifice for the rain.

Some children started cheering and some couldn't stop crying .

Sato: And now run to your parents and tell them the story of Majaji and that Rui is now your new Majaji !

The children quickly ran home and only my team was there.

Kakashi: How did you do that?

Sakura: The story was so beautiful.

Sakura, Hinata and Mara were also crying.

Sai: That was a really nice story.

Kakashi: You still haven't answered.

Sato: A magician doesn't reveal his tricks.

Kakashi: It would stay between the two of us, but if you don't want to tell, I guess there's nothing I can do.

Sato: Exactly, there's nothing you can do about it.

Hinata: Do Africa and Europe really exist?

Sato: Of course these continents exist, but they are very far away.

Kakashi: Whatever, you gave the children hope.

Half an hour passed and Mayor Futa came running into our hut.

He bowed to us.

Futa: Thank you, thank you, we will always remember you and your story.

Sato: You don't have to thank us, but your daughter, she is the new Majaji and gave you the rain, because the angel saw that she has a pure heart. You should protect her to honor the angel.

Futa: We will, thank you! The rain saves our lives!

Sato: By the way, you should bring your sick people into the rain, the rain of Majaji heals every illness.

Futa looked at me and started running the next moment.

We then all went to sleep and destroyed the remaining roots the next day.

After it we left to go back to Konoha.

Rui: Bye and come home safe and make sure nothing happens to the Wizard Prince!

Futa: We will never forget you and spread the story everywhere!

Sato: If you have any problems, use the fuinjutsu I gave you and I'll be there immediately.

And take good care of the new Majaji.

I then opened a portal to Konoha and my team walked through it.

I waved to them again and then I disappeared too.

Rui: Dad, I think I've fallen in love with Sato.

Futa: But he already has a wife, so you better give up, or do you think an angel is cheating on his wife?

Rui: I know, but I still like him, my ghost.

Futa: You are hopeless and now feed your beloved goat.

Rui: Thanks Dad, I'll do it straight away.

Rui then ran away laughing.

Futa: How could I blame her for falling in love with an angel, after he saved our lives and declared my daughter the Majaji. Ha, I'm getting too old, maybe I should hand over to Rui soon.
