Ignoring the burning sensation in his arm, David readied his sword, while his mind was working in overdrive.
Of course, there was the option of cutting off the infected portion of his arm, and allowing the flesh to regenerate.
But that would effectively cripple him for a minute or two and against these enemies, he was certain all of his limbs were essential.
A plan formed in David's mind, if he didn't have any other tools or allies, he would just create his own. By now, he understood the behavior of the zombies well.
He sprinted forward, aiming for the slightest gap between the two zombies that were charging at him.
It would be close, the zombies were windmilling their arms, spinning them around the shoulder joint like no human could.
This created a wheel of death on either side, and with two zombies, made them virtually untouchable.
Just as he had done with the three star, David dropped closer to the ground, though they moved beyond human limits, they still had human proportions, their range was limited.
The zombie's head snapped down to look at him, in unison, they both bent at the waist, changing the angle of their attacks.
But David's strategy had paid off, though he didn't have another cloak to entangle the zombies attacks, he managed to use their instincts against them.
Their arms repeatedly hit against each other, causing the zombies to become entangled with each other. It sounded like someone was running through a slaughterhouse, slapping the meat.
With one move, David had left the two zombies far behind, he had bought himself a little bit of time to face off against the slower, one star zombie.
The one star was ready for another attack, and its burning eyes locked onto David, dragging its feet as it charged toward him.
When he saw his own blood dripping from the zombie's fingernails, David frowned.
"I'll take that from you."
David hissed, while the zombie started spinning its arms, the zombies all seemed to attack in the same way.
It had no chance.
Slice
In one smooth motion, David sliced off the arm that had attacked him. The arm fell to the ground, and the zombie stumbled around to David, who was now stood behind it.
Slash
Just as the zombie had readied its remaining arm to attack David, he slashed it off. Sending it spinning into the air.
"Graaaaaaghhh!"
The zombie let out a roar, chomping its teeth at David, who was standing just out of reach.
He took small steps back, keeping his distance, preventing the zombie from reaching him, but not finishing it off.
This had been the next part of David's plan.
By letting the zombie keep its head, he had created a moving shield.
Since it could still see David, it would continue to follow him, but without its main weapon, its arms, it would pose barely any risk.
To take the two stars out successfully, he needed to split them up, two zombies that attacked in sync were far more dangerous than a solo zombie.
Behind the armless zombie, the zombies had already freed themselves, and were running at David.
David stepped back and to the left, circling around to keep the armless zombie between one of the attackers.
"Perfect."
David murmured, and jumped to the right.
With a loud thud, one of the two stars had slammed into the armless zombie, sending them both crashing to the ground.
"Guuuu!"
"Graah!"
The two zombies rolled around on the ground, letting out struggling noises.
Meanwhile, the two star still on its feet was slashing out at David, following him even as he had jumped off to its side.
The nails whirled through the air, just skimming past David's face, he had positioned himself perfectly to be just out of its range.
With ease, David stepped past the spinning arms, and sliced off to the side.
Carried by their momentum, the zombie's arms went whirling through the air, crumbling into nothing, separated from their mana source.
The zombie hasn't given up at all, pain meant nothing to it, losing limbs meant nothing to it, it bit at David head.
David ducked and spun around, removing the zombie's legs, and it fell to the ground, clicking sounds coming from its jaws opening and closing.
Stab
David stabbed into its throat, and moved his sword from side to side, removing the zombie's head.
"Guuuuuua!"
The remaining two star was back on its feet, and charging at David.
David hadn't expected it recover so fast, and hurriedly stepped off to the side.
"Shit."
He swore, stumbling over the torso of the zombie he had just defeated.
David hadn't accounted for the fact that the zombie would still move after being defeated, and the torso had squirmed into his path.
Though it was likely by coincidence, since the zombie torso had no vision or hearing, it had managed to assist the other.
David was sent flying backwards, already knocked off balance, the zombie's hands slammed into his chest.
Laying on his back on the stone floor, David coughed up a small amount of blood, the Komodo Leather armor had stopped the zombie's toxic nails, but the impact had still travelled through.
Even though the zombie's were mindless, their attacks still had the power of a red core behind them, as well as the strength of an undead, not limited by living limits.
"Ahhhhhhh!"
A strangled scream escaped David's mouth, a burning hot pain came from his left ankle.
More than the pain itself, the surprise caused David to yell out in shock.
David glanced down and swore, his own strategy was coming back to literally bite him.
The zombie he had used as a shield had closed its jaws around his left ankle, and its mouth was locked tight.
'Shit. Shit. Shit.'
David struggled backwards, the remaining two star was running over, aiming right for his legs.
His armor wouldn't be able to protect him now.
Summoning all his strength, David struggled to his feet, the zombie's mouth still in a vice grip around his ankle.
"HAAAAAHH!"
Sending a surge of mana to his left leg, David kicked out with as much force as he could gather, sending the body of the zombie swinging through the air.
*Crunch*
The two zombies collided, the sound of bones breaking sounding out, as the ribs off the zombie clamped to David's leg were smashed by the spinning arms of the other one.
David fell backwards, the impact had freed him from the jaws of the zombie, the momentum of his kick causing him to almost flip completely over.
A quick glance at his mana indicator causing David to panic a little, he was on the last few points of mana, that kick had consumed an enormous amount of mana.
"Guaaaaa!"
Another zombie yell came from up ahead, and David looked up to see the two star once again charging at him.
In some sort of desperation, it had torn right through its fellow zombie's body without trying to free them both.
Perhaps it had more intelligence than he had realized, and had noticed that David was vulnerable.
Or maybe, just like the bite, it was coincidence. Whatever the reason, it didn't matter.
This was the end.
