While exploring the system during the past five and a half months, Shye learned that an additional option has been added when purchasing a skill from the system.
He could now choose to purchase a skill but instead of learning it, he could convert it into a skill book, then, the skill book would be placed in the inventory.
Shye didn't know if it was due to the system upgrade to level two but it was the only possible explanation so he concluded that it must be due to that.
Anyway, this feature is very helpful because he could help Maia by using this new feature.
He plans to purchase some skills for her through the system, convert it into a skill book, then withdraw it from the inventory and give it to Maia.
During the past year, although Maia was able to train hard for at least eight to ten hours a day, Shye wasn't sure if her current skills would be enough to give her a high ranking in the academy entrance exam.
This is why today, Shye decided to accompany her and check her combat skills inside a combat practice establishment where the two of them could spar together.
Of course, Shye would give her a bit of handicap, he would just use enough strength to see how far Maia can go.
As a scout, she should be able to cause some problems for Shye in a one-on-one sparring session due to how nimble scouts are.
After walking for a few minutes, the two of them finally arrived at the combat practice establishment where Shye rented a practice room that cost 50 silver coins per hour.
He rented the practice room for two hours which set him back for a total of 100 silver coins.
Although a bit pricey, he decided to go through with it because it would be hard for Maia to go all out without a proper combat space. In addition to this, he would be able to earn 100 silver coins in around two days anyway so he didn't mind spending this much for his little sister.
After everything was settled the siblings entered the practice room and stood across from each other.
Shye thought that Maia would be a little uneasy since this would be the first time they would fight each other but upon looking at her determined and excited facial expression, he was surprised.
"Maia, don't tell me you're a battle maniac like Siegfried?"
Shye thought to himself as he remembered the times when Maia excitedly watched every match of the end-of-the-semester tournament through the television screen.
"Prepare yourself, Big Brother!"
Maia answered his questions as she unhesitatingly charged at him with a wooden dagger in her hands.
*PAH* *PAH* *PAH* *PAH* *PAH* *PAH* *PAH*
"Absolutely just like Siegfried!"
Shye inwardly chuckled after seeing Maia's excited facial expressions as she continued attacking Shye with punches, stabs, slashes, and kicks from different angles.
Although she hadn't landed a single clean hit yet, she didn't get frustrated or nervous or anything like that, and instead, Maia enjoyed every single moment of their sparring.
Shye was affected by Maia's enthusiasm and so, instead of just letting her attack, he decided to fight back a bit.
*BANG*
Maia was sent flying after Shye landed a side kick on her abdomen.
"M-Maia! Are you okay? I'm sorry I–?!"
*PAH* *PAH* *PAH* *PAH*
To Shye's surprise, Maia was unfazed. She simply stood up, charged at him, and continued attacking again with the same facial expression.
"Maia…You're absolutely bonkers!"
Shye said as he decided to stop holding back. Maia was obviously the same type of fighter as Siegfried and such fighters hated being looked down on.
*BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG*
After blocking one of Maia's attacks, he decided to hit her with a flurry of blows to have her learn that she had a lot of openings that the opponents could exploit.
*PLOP*
Maia plopped to the ground after a thorough beating from her big brother.
"Y-You're indeed amazing…Big brother. I couldn't even land a single hit on you!" Maia sincerely said with a hint of admiration in her eyes.
As for Shye, he wasn't in the mood to enjoy his little sister's sincere praises. He took out a lesser health potion and immediately made her drink it.
"How are you feeling?"
Shye asked Maia while waiting for the potion to take effect. A few moments later, Maia stood up as if nothing had happened.
"I feel great! That was a good experience for me! Can we…try again? I learned a lot from that sparring session and I'd like to try if I could do better this time…"
Maia said as her eyes sparkled in anticipation.
There was no way that Shye could bear to reject her request after seeing how enthusiastic and excited she was.
"Oh well, it seems like I would have to use a lot of health potions today."
Shye chuckled as he returned to his position and assumed his battle stance.
