After the dismissal, Shye immediately stood up and walked towards the exit of their classroom.
"H-Hey captain!"
Shirley hesitantly called out to Shye who then turned to look at her.
"Hmm? What is it?"
"I-I'm just wondering if you want to train together with me?"
Shirley courageously asked
"Oh…Sorry, I have plans today." Shye replied
After being rejected by Shye, Shirley was visibly downcast. Seeing her pitiful appearance made him feel bad so he promised to go with her some other day.
"But maybe we can train together some other day, I just have something important to do today…"
Shirley cheered up a little bit after hearing Shye's promise.
"Okay then! Just tell me whenever you're available!" Shirley said before turning around to leave.
After their short conversation, Shye went out of the academy to purchase some meat, vegetables, eggs, snacks, and other things that Maia could eat throughout the week.
He wouldn't be able to stay with her most of the time so he bought some groceries for her to cook.
Now that they had the money to eat properly, he definitely wouldn't be stingy when it came to buying food and drinks for his little sister.
Once he finished purchasing everything they needed for a week, Shye returned to his dormitory.
Upon arriving, he immediately stored each item in their respective places.
The meat and veggies went inside the fridge while the eggs and snacks were stored on the pantry shelves.
"Big brother? Didn't you go to class?"
Shye heard Maia's morning voice behind him as he was storing away the eggs carefully.
"Oh? Good morning Maia! Did you sleep well? And yeah, I did go to class but we were dismissed early so I bought some groceries for you to eat."
"Yep! I slept really well. The bed was so comfortable so I had a bit of trouble waking up" Maia responded.
Shye chuckled after hearing her cute response.
"She must've slept really well, that's good" He thought to himself.
"That's good, don't worry about anything, and just sleep for as long as you like ok?"
"Okay!" Maia responded happily.
"Well then, I still have things to do, will you be ok here by yourself?"
"Yeah, I'll train hard in my room later since I've got lots of energy now." Maia said as she raised her right arm and flexed her nonexistent biceps.
Shye laughed at his little sister's cute antics.
"Alright, but don't overdo it ok?"
"Okay!"
After making sure that his little sister would be fine alone, Shye left the dormitory.
Today, he plans to explore deeper into the beginner adventurer zone to not only get some battle experience but also to kill some creatures and sell their body parts to earn money.
Although he still had 80 silver coins, he didn't even have proper armor and weapons.
All his classmates had a complete set of armor and weapons already while all he had was a rusty old dagger.
"I really need a decent weapon right now to go hunting…" Shye thought to himself.
He opened the system to try and look for a decent beginner's weapon but the floor price of the weapons was 150 points.
Shye only had 100 points right now so he couldn't buy anything from the system.
"Maybe I can purchase some weapons in the academy weapon shop?" He wondered.
He wouldn't know if he didn't try so he walked towards the academy weapon shop to look for some decent weapons for himself.
Upon arriving at the academy weapon shop, Shye was surprised to see that there were many students like him looking for weapons.
"Hey, look at that guy's identification card! Looks like he's someone from the top 20!"
"Yeah, but I don't remember his face. Maybe he's the no-name guy who defeated the 16th-seeded candidate in the warrior course?"
"Oh? That Shye Crowley?"
The other first-year students looked at him curiously while he was looking around for a weapon.
Shye was quite used to such things by now so he didn't pay any attention to them and just continued checking the swords on display.
"Hmmm…So the price range is from forty silver coins to sixty silver coins for beginner weapons huh? Not bad…I'll probably earn my money back anyway so I shouldn't be stingy…"
Shye picked up a short iron sword from the shelf and tried swinging it at an empty corner.
"Hmm…Too light for me, I'd like something heavier…"
After raising his strength attribute by a lot of points, such short iron swords were too light for him so he returned it to its display case and looked for other swords.
"Iron Longsword? Hmmm…It has a long range but it is still a bit light for me, I might have trouble using this in a close-range fight…"
"Rapier? Nah…too light and it doesn't suit my fighting style…"
Shye tried a variety of swords before finally spotting an Iron Greatsword on the far end of the shop.
He picked up the Iron Greatsword and tried lifting it with one hand.
"Hmm…A bit heavy but as long as I upgrade my strength attribute, I shouldn't have any trouble using this."
Shye liked the feeling of using the Iron Greatsword so he chose it as his weapon. He put the Iron Greatsword back to its case and then, he carried the case to the counter.
He placed the huge case in front of the counter to pay for it.
"Oh? This is quite rare, adventurers rarely choose the greatsword as a weapon because it leaves the adventurer more susceptible to attacks in exchange for a stronger attack power."
"In addition to this, if you do not have sufficient strength to wield it, you would only be putting yourself in danger. Sir, are you sure you want to purchase this weapon?"
The talkative shopkeeper asked.
"Yes, I like the feel of this weapon so I would likely be using this as my main weapon." Shye replied
"I see, then I shall not stop you anymore! That would be 75 silver coins."
Shye was shocked after hearing the price of the Iron Greatsword.
"What?! 75 silver coins?! That would only leave me with 5 silver coins! Why didn't I check the price first?!"
Shye felt the urge to slap his face.
There was already a long line behind him so it would be too lame to back out now just because of the price...
His face twitched and his heart ached as he handed over 75 silver coins to the shopkeeper.
"At least I've got a proper weapon now, I should be able to earn enough money as long as I work hard and hunt creatures in the beginner adventurer zone."
Shye consoled himself.
He already purchased the Iron Greatsword so there's no merit in regretting his choices now. Not to mention, he really did like the sword.
After paying for the weapon, Shye asked the shopkeeper for the sword strap that goes along with the Iron Greatsword since it would be very hard to carry such a huge weapon around without a sword strap.
"Oh, the sword straps are sold differently, if you want one it would cost you another 5 silver coins. Would you like to purchase one?"
"..."
In the end, Shye decided to purchase the sword strap with a heavy heart.
Although he left the weapon shop with zero remaining silver coins, at least he can now start earning money on his own.
After leaving the academy weapon shop, Shye headed towards the beginner adventurer zone.
"Time to explore deep into the beginner adventurer zone!"
