In the vicinity of a grand church, on the midnight of December 24th, a child came into the world. Bathed in the ethereal glow of the red moon, the scene was one of enchantment. A little girl, drawn by curiosity, approached a door and discovered a small basket within which a baby cried. Overwhelmed, the little girl turned around, clutching the door, and exclaimed, "Mama! Big brother Juroku! There's a child by the door!" Her cry echoed through the house, but Juroku, her older brother, remained sound asleep in his bed upstairs.
The mother, a priest, walked toward the little girl as she inquired, "Yes, darling?" The little girl pointed at the baby, her eyes filled with wonder. The mother, taken aback, looked down and pulled the baby inside, closing the door behind them. As she gazed at the unexpected arrival, she lifted the small sheet covering the baby's eyes. To her astonishment, the baby possessed enchanting golden yellow eyes and a tuft of black hair atop their head.
Overwhelmed with emotion, the little girl exclaimed, "Beautiful!" The mother smiled, patting the little girl on the head, and said, "I truly wonder who brought this baby here as a gift." The little girl raised her hand, gesturing her uncertainty, and replied, "I don't know." The mother continued to smile and asked the little girl, "What should we name this young and gorgeous boy?" Deep in thought, the little girl placed her hand by her chin and pondered...
As the little girl finished her contemplation, she pointed her finger towards the shimmering light that danced around them, and exclaimed, "How about Zanki Yoru!" The mother was taken aback, her eyes wide with surprise. She responded, "Yes, that would be a wonderful name. Thank you for suggesting it, my darling Watane." Their smiles mirrored each other's, brimming with joy and anticipation.
Meanwhile, young Zanki Yoru, the baby boy, gazed with astonishment as his eyes gleamed brightly, reflecting the newfound love and connection that enveloped his newly-named existence.
Fifteen years had passed, and Zanki Yoru awoke to the morning light, his long and gorgeous black hair covering his face. He brushed it aside and whispered, "Good morning, everyone!" It is a beautiful Monday. As Zanki made his way downstairs, he covered his mouth with his hand, letting out a yawn and asked, "What's for breakfast, Big Bro Juroku?" Juroku turned around and replied, in a tired voice, "It's Tamago Kake Gohan..." Zanki responded with a slightly annoyed expression, saying, "What? That again?"
At that moment, Zanki's older sister, Watane, approached and exclaimed, "Good morning, Big Brother Juroku and little Zanki!" Juroku greeted her with a tired voice, saying, "Oh, hey, good morning, Watane..." Annoyed, Watane crossed her arms and asked, "Did you pray this morning?" Juroku felt shocked and quickly lied, saying, "Yes, I did pray today..." even though he hadn't prayed for seven months.
Watane then walked up to Zanki Yoru with a similarly annoyed expression. Zanki Yoru wore a worried face and said, "No, I haven't prayed today... I'll pray right now, okay?" Watane adopted a serious expression, gave a thumbs-up, and said, "You better do it, Little Zanki." Zanki forced a smile, hurriedly walked outside, and closed the door. As he turned around, the sunlight dazzled his vision. He shielded his eyes and remarked, "The sunlight is so bright." He moved his hand away and made his way to his mother's grave.
Sitting next to his mother's grave, Zanki Yoru wore a troubled expression and said, "I wonder what you even looked like, to be honest, my mother-in-law." The wind gently blew through Zanki Yoru's long, beautiful hair, reaching his shoulders. He extended his hands and began to pray, in a solemn silence. Meanwhile, Watane and Juroku watched from the window, observing Zanki Yoru's prayer with a smile. Watane then turned to Juroku and said, "Hurry up and finish breakfast for this morning." Juroku exclaimed, "Oh, shoot!" and rushed to the kitchen. As Zanki Yoru continued his prayer, counting and praying in a serene atmosphere.
As Zanki Yoru finished his prayer and rose to his feet, he walked back into the church. Juroku had filled the table with breakfast, and he smiled, saying, "Here you all go." Watane's eyes brightened, and she picked up a grain of rice with her chopsticks, thanking Juroku, "Thank you very much, Big Brother Juroku!" Juroku gave a thumbs-up and replied seriously, "You're welcome, Watane." Zanki Yoru smiled and expressed his gratitude, "Oh, thank you very much, Big Bro Juroku." Juroku responded, "No problem." Zanki Yoru sat on a chair near the table, looking at his Tamago Kake Gohan. He picked up the chopsticks, while Juroku observed him, and Watane continued eating her own meal.
Zanki Yoru picked up a raw egg, placed it in his mouth, and swallowed, exclaiming, "Delicious!" Juroku smiled, but Watane interjected, "Hey, don't keep saying 'delicious' all the time. I mean, we've eaten Tamago Kake Gohan a hundred times, I think..." Juroku turned towards Watane with an angry look and said, "You should respect the food people give you." Watane continued eating, and Juroku turned away, frustrated, saying, "Don't ignore me!" Zanki Yoru finished his breakfast, and both Juroku and Watane exclaimed, "You finished that fast?!" Zanki Yoru replied, "Yep, and it's time for me to travel..."
Juroku and Watane wore serious expressions as Juroku approached Zanki Yoru and cautioned him, "Be careful on your first trip. There may be evil magic masters waiting for you..." Watane added, "Yeah, listen to Big Brother Juroku, little Zanki." Zanki Yoru, bothered by the term "little," stared at Watane and retorted, "I'm not little anymore. I'm way taller than you to be called little." Watane continued eating until she finished, then looked up and asked, "Say what?" Zanki Yoru sighed and said, "Never mind..." However, he turned towards Juroku and reassured him, "It's okay, Big Bro Juroku. I'll be fine. I'll make it to the academy, obtain extraordinary magic, and become the most powerful priest of all time." Juroku smiled and replied, "Okay, go ahead, Zanki." Zanki Yoru responded, "Alright, Big Bro Juroku." Watane raised her hand and said, "Yeah, go on, too, Little Zanki." Zanki Yoru felt bothered by the comment and muttered to himself, "She still calls me little? Again after I told her."
Zanki Yoru dressed himself in a brown cowboy outfit and put on his brown cowboy hat, considering it the perfect attire for the academy. He picked up his two guns, known as a "Double Persuader," and placed them in his chaps. He descended the stairs and declared, "It's time to say goodbye." Watane began to cry and requested, "Wait, before you go, let me give you a big kiss, little Zanki..." She kissed Zanki Yoru on the cheek, while Juroku gave him a big hug and said, "Take care out there, little bro," offering a thumbs-up. Watane waved him off, saying, "Be careful." Zanki Yoru thanked them all, saying, "Thank you all for my entire 15 years of life, older sister, older brother, and mother, for giving me this powerful heart of mine..." Watane and Juroku smiled as Zanki Yoru placed his hand on his cowboy hat, adopting a serious expression, and declared, "Let's get it."
