Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Childhood Trauma

A species of demon scorpions known for their black body, and red tails but that wasn't all. These scorpions were as huge as normal Elephants and their venom was more deadly than anything the humans have ever seen.

"Arsha." Jayden managed to force out in his last moment as blood slowly trickled down his chin.

His legs lost every form of strength they had as he watched his roommate's skin turn red before it slowly began to turn dark like charcoal.

It was exactly like the process of burning wood to produce charcoal and now that he was nothing but charcoal, the Scorpions pulled out their stingers from him, allowing him to slowly divide into two from his lower body.

"No."

He was just about to crash to his knees when the Scorpion behind him sent him flying forward with a snack from its tail and just as he smashed into one of the trees in the area he heard a scream of pain from Maya.

"No, not her too."

He quickly turned to the area at that moment to see her dangling in the air, the Scorpion had pierced her from her back through her chest and her skin was turning red now.

"Arsha, please help." She cried out in pain.

Boiling with anger now, he formed the largest fireball he could form in his hand and threw it at the Scorpion but even after making contact, the fireball didn't do anything, it didn't scratch the Scorpion.

"I'm warning you now, let her go." He muttered in between his panting as he slowly got up on his feet.

That's what he said but he had something else in mind.

'This is hopeless, beating one of these is a huge hassle let alone four, their bodies are like impenetrable fortresses and they don't have a weak spot. It's happening again.'

That scream from Maya managed to cover quite a lot of ground and managed to get to a couple of the other teams including Claudia's team which happened to be close at that moment.

"That sounded like...Maya," she uttered before turning toward where she thought she heard the scream come from

"You mean the red-haired girl?"

"That didn't sound like a good scream."

Before Jessica knew it, she was running toward the area.

"Hey, wait, where are you…."

She had no choice but to quickly follow her after letting out a sigh.

The source of the scream turned out to be closer to them than they thought and just like Claudia thought, that wasn't a good scream.

The expression on her face was one of terror as she stared at Arsha who was kneeling on the floor with Maya in his hands as her skin slowly turned black.

But that wasn't the main reason why she had that expression on her face. Just right behind Arsha were the four scorching Scorpions and they were taking their time closing up on him.

"No." She gasped.

She wanted to rush to him and do something but her legs just wouldn't move, they were trembling and she hated that feeling.

She wasn't the only one trembling, Jessica was right behind her and she was even more terrified than Claudia.

"We should get out of here, Claudia."

She tried to call her friend back to the real world and leave the area as soon as possible but she wasn't moving and that was because one of the beasts had its tail hanging over Arsha now.

"No, don't do it."

Without any form of hesitation, the beast swung its tail down and pierced through him from the back with its stinger before pulling him up allowing Maya to slowly fall off his arms.

Arsha coughed out quite a lot of blood as he got pulled up and Jessica couldn't help but cover her mouth at the gruesome sight.

"Claudia, we have to get out of here."

She tried to place her hand on her shoulder at that moment but before she could even touch it, the electrical current she was releasing shocked her and forced her to pull her hand back.

"Claudia?"

She was breathing quite heavily now as her whole body began to get covered by streams and sparks of lightning stronger than anything Jessica had ever seen from her.

Her eyes slowly began to glow and her hair was standing perfectly straight due to the effects of the lightning around her body.

"I am going to rip you apart." She blurted in between her heavy breathing with eyes that screamed murder.

She quickly charged toward the beast at that moment, as fast as lightning itself.

Before the beast knew it, she was standing on its tail, and being there was all she needed.

The force of lightning from her body was spread out through its body with its stinging effect and out of pain it swung its tail around back and forth until it finally sent Arsha flying to the side.

"Don't throw him around like that!" She screamed in anger.

Some sort of black substance drilled out from the floor at that moment and pierced right through the Scorpion forcing out a loud hiss from it.

The other scorpions stepped in to help their mate at that moment but Claudia was fast enough to jump off the Scorpions causing all three of them to sink their stingers into the already impaled scorpion.

Right at that moment, a strong force of wind blew past Claudia but it didn't move her, the ones the wind was after were the Scorpions which were blown toward the edge of the area, and while they were still trying to recover from that, a large bolt of lightning was sent down on them from above blasting them into numerous pieces.

Claudia looked up at that moment to see Ariel floating there but her gaze didn't last on her as she quickly turned to Arsha before rushing toward him.

He was already unconscious with his uniform soaked in his blood.

Her eyes quickly filled up with tears as she crashed down on her knees beside him.

"I'm sorry." She cried.

She tried to control herself but before she knew it, she was crying out like a child.

"I'm sorry I couldn't do anything."

"You know there's no reason for you to cry, right?"

She stopped crying for a moment to turn around and see that it was Ariel standing there.

"You're his sister, you should be crying the most right now." She sobbed. "And why didn't you get here sooner?"

"Well, I tried but the teachers were being unreasonable and when I tried to force my way through, they used Jack to block my path." She explained before taking a deep breath. "Anyway, as I said, there's no reason for you to cry."

"And why's that?"

"Haven't you asked yourself why his body isn't changing like the other two who got stung by those things?"

"Huh?"

She turned her gaze to his hand at that moment and picked it up to see that it was still normal and that wasn't all, it still looked alive, and she could feel a pulse.

"He's alive, but how?"

She felt like something heavy was suddenly lifted off her chest and that translated to a look of relief on her face.
