Chapter 24 - CHAPTER 24

While I was helping mother with some knitting wools, to knit up some bags she was planning to sell off, we heard a noise of a vehicle driving into our home. It was none other but Damian.

I was surprised to see him after so many days.

I exchanged glances with mum, while he came down from his car. He brought some groceries for us. I wasn't pleased by his presence at all. He was now engaged and if Kristine or anyone at the mansion finds out, I would be in a huge mess.

I stayed unmoved, watching his walk down towards us.

"You can't even welcome your guest nicely." He said to me rudely from a distance.

"Why are you here?". I asked him with a frown on my face.

Damian drew a chair closer to us, taking his seat. He threw those groceries on my laps. He sure was very troublesome to some extent.

"I guess my upcoming news has spread like a wild fire." He said to us.

"Exactly. Why did you come here, knowing that you're now engaged?". Mum asked him.

"I don't know why I'm here but it's just like my body wanted to be here." He replied.

I sarcastically laughed at his words rolling my eyes at him. Mother couldn't help but just stare at him confusedly. She obviously didn't want our family to get included his mess like in the past. These few days has really been peaceful for us and she wanted it to remain that way.

"This is unnecessary. Stop visiting us. You'll only hurt us if you keep doing this." She said to him.

"Exactly. People will think we are in a secret relationship. Just stop it please." I pleaded with him.

Damian nodded his head in agreement, and there was a sudden switch of mood in his face. He kept rubbing his palms against the other. He was buried in sadness.

"You're right. I wish I can, but it's too late." Damian said.

"What do you mean?". I and mother asked him in unison.

Damian crossed his legs, looking at us with a smile. He squinted my tiny eyes, staring into his. He wasn't being funny at all. He left us hanging in suspense, indirectly enjoying the drama.

"I don't care about anyone's opinion." He said, grinning.

While he was still at our place, Emman arrived. He came around to see me, because he has really been thinking about my farewell these recent days.

"Emman!.' I screamed out his name.

Emman was very surprised to meet Damian at our place. He kept giving him some side looks. Emman sat next to me, still staring at Damian. He was wondering why he was at our place.

"Why is he here?". Emman whisphered into my ears.

"I don't know neither." I whisphered back into his ears.

"You're the one that got almost killed by my father's men on that day right?". He asked Emman.

Emman ignored his words, looking at him instead. Damian hated the silent treatment he got from Emman and he found it really disrespectful for someone of his class and personality.

"Don't forget I'm your boss." Damian reminded him.

"Yes I was the one." Emman forcefully replied.

"I didn't know that the both of you were very close up till now." He said to me.

I was already getting fed up by his rants. I stood up, while they all looked at me, wondering what I was up to now. I folded my hands, like I was ready to throw punches on the air.

"Master Damian, your family are waiting for you especially your bride to me." I said to him, trying to sound polite.

"She's right. Please just go." Mum pleaded with him.

Damian felt defeated and decided to leave in peace, because he also didn't want me to get into any troubles because of him.

After he had left, Emman finally decided to open up about the reason he visited us so early unlike him.

"I was worried sick about you." Emman said to me.

"Can't you see I'm very fine?". I asked him with a smile.

"He still had the nerves to show his face to you after everything." Emman said within his breath.

I obviously knew that he was talking about Damian. I couldn't understand his hatred for Damian and it looked like a personal beef. I tried my best not to ask him about it, because it was becoming very obvious and I didn't want to get involved at all.

"Oh he also bought some groceries for you'll." Emman said, catching a glimpse of the package on my laps.

"It was thoughtful of him. He's a nice person, irrespective of his class." Mum praised Damian before us.

Emman got so envious and tried his best to change the topic. He was already tired of hearing about Damian's names coming up whenever we were having conversations.

"You can't really judge him that way. He might not be as nice as he appears." Emman intervened.

"He saved my daughter's life." Mum reminded him.

Emman exchanged glances with me, while I looked at his face. He obviously disliked Damian that much. Mother decided to let us be alone for some time. She entered inside our home, while I kept silent waiting for Emman to speak first.

"What are you going to do now that Damian is really getting married?". Emman asked me.

I wasn't expecting such question from him, and he caught me off the hook. I suddenly started coughing immediately.

"What's my business with that?".I asked him.

"You look affected." He replied.

I was surprised to hear that, because I thought I was careful enough to hide how I truly felt about the news. Emman still had his way of tracing it out. I had to deny his claims immediately.

"I'm not affected Emman. Congratulations to them." I shunned him.

"Only time can tell remember." He said to me.

I wondered why he was saying all these to me now. He was just trying to force out words from my mouth. I wasn't in to have that conversation with him and I appreciated if he changed it.
