Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 4

Days passed, and the university seemed to have returned to its normal routine. It was as if the traumatic event that had taken place had been forgotten. Some students appeared more subdued than others, but they had no choice but to move forward. The incident had left a mark on them, and some found it hard to forget.

As I made my way to the canteen, I noticed groups of students eating together, just like on my first day here. Some were dining alone, like myself. I spent too much time in line that I ended up walking over to a corner table.

Catching my eye once again were the same group of outgoing and attractive students from my initial arrival. This time, however, I paid closer attention to their conversation. They chatted about a topic that was unfamiliar to me, just as they had on my first day, but this time, I listened intently.

One student, in particular, caught my attention. He was quieter than the others but as I eavesdropped on their discussion, I couldn't help but overhear snippets of what they were saying. They talked about a relationship and how they were struggling to come up with ideas. One student suggested finding a new boyfriend while another suggested not finding a boyfriend at all. They debated the pros and cons of each idea.

Everyone in the canteen seemed to be staring at them as they spoke, and it was clear that these students held a certain allure. But as an observer, I couldn't help but wonder what their relationship dynamics were like and why they were having such a difficult time coming up with ideas for their relationship.

That's when I noticed him - the quiet student who had caught my eye earlier. He sat at the end of the table, listening intently to their conversation but not contributing much. I couldn't help but be drawn to him, his quiet intensity captivating me in a way that no one else had since arriving at the university.

As the conversation came to a close, I gathered my tray and bags when I was about to walk away, I saw one of the people with them was foaming at the mouth

"OH MY GOD!" shouted a student

"Somebody help us please!"

".. oh my god veronica are you okay?" they didn't know what one of their friend was going to do when I immediately approached them and they didn't know what to do.

"MOVE!''I shouted while grabbing one of their friends by the hand

I approached the group, I noticed a woman lying on the ground, surrounded by her panicked friends. Without hesitation, I knelt beside her and asked,

"Is she breathing?"

When I saw that his breathing was slowing down, I put my two fingers on his neck to find out if his breathing was still normal, I did the next thing and looked at him foaming at the mouth and smelled it indescribably.

"i-Its…C-cyanide" I whispered softly.

As I continued to monitor the woman's breathing, I noticed her color turning blue. I quickly placed my hand on her chest and started compressions, while also administering rescue breaths. Her friends looked on in terror, not knowing what to do.

One of them stumbled over to me, her eyes wide with fear. "Please, what can we do?" she begged.

I explained to her the steps they needed to take to help their friend. "Call an ambulance and the police immediately," I said firmly.

"Make sure they know the address and what's happening here."

The woman nodded frantically and ran out of the room, her voice shaking as she made the calls. I continued to perform CPR, my heart pounding in my chest as I prayed for a miracle.

Suddenly, there was a commotion outside the room as the ambulance and police arrived. I handed over the woman to the paramedics, who quickly took over and rushed her to the hospital. As they left, I turned to the woman's friends, who were still in shock. "Stay here," I instructed them before I face them all

The incident left me shaken but also reminded me of how important it is to be prepared for emergencies like these. As for the quiet student from earlier, he stayed behind after everyone else left, looking at me with a mix of coldness and gratitude in his eyes.
