Chapter 29 - How They Still Survive

Jared, once a proud and evil bandit, tries to use his new powers to rob Barry. Now he can only sit on his butt on the dirty ground, in the middle of his scattered friends' corpses.

The killer is now walking towards him. The shadows of night that covered most of his face and body made him look even more terrifying.

Without realizing it, Jared had wet his pants. His pants were now soaked with his own urine. Meanwhile, his eyes stared at Barry who was approaching him.

"Now," Barry said. "Tell me where is the girl who can make potion is."

Jared can't manage to get anything out of his mouth. It was as if his tongue had disappeared.

"Hey!" Barry stepped quickly and stood right in front of Jared then kicked his leg. "Tell me!"

"I... I... She's in our house," said Jared, finally able to force his mouth to speak.

"And where is it?"

Jared pointed out the location of his house with difficulty. Barry also had to force him to keep talking with threats so he wouldn't waste time with his stutter. So the result was, that Jared spoke while keep wetting his pants.

Barry paid no mind to it.

"You're not lying, are you?" Barry asked with a cold look.

"N-No! I... I swear! She was there. And... and we didn't do anything to her."

Barry nodded. "Good."

Jared breathed a sigh of relief. He thought at least if his friends were all dead, he was still alive-

*BANG!*

Jared fell to the ground with a hole in his head and parts of his brain scattered around him. From this close, there is no way for Barry to miss his shot.

He put his gun back into his back pocket and then picked up the crystals that had fallen from the bodies of all the bandits. He kept it all in a pouch so he could use it for something later.

When he was done with all that, Barry returned to the motel carrying Danny's empty shotgun.

However, before he could enter the motel, Elaine, Danny, and Anna had already left there.

They stared at the corpses strewn behind Barry.

"D-Did you killed them?" Danny asked haltingly.

"Yes," Barry answered simply.

The look in Danny and Anna's eyes looked like two people who had just seen a ghost or a demon. They seemed hard to believe what they saw.

A kid, not older than twenty, just slaughtered a whole squad of six armed men, by himself.

And on top of that, he came unscathed. Without the slightest injury on his body.

Anyone who sees it for the first time will definitely be shocked. Just like what Danny and Anna experienced. However, Elaine, who has been with Barry for a long time, is already used to his abilities and powers.

"Are you right?" Elaine asked.

Barry nodded his head. "Yeah, I'm fine. Listen, I have good news. But we'd better go in first."

After they went back inside, Barry explained what information he got from the six bandits.

Elaine seemed enthusiastic about listening and thought that his information was good.

But Danny and Anna still frowned, uneasy. They still can't accept the reality about Barry.

And Elaine's attitude which seemed to think what Barry was doing was a normal thing made them also look at the girl strangely.

Elaine finally noticed their gazes at them. She asked. "What's the matter?"

Danny and Anna exchanged uncomfortable glances.

Anna said. "We're just not used to seeing a murder like that."

"Really?" Barry looked at them with a frown. "So how do you manage to survive until now?"

"We live in here and all this time nobody has been trying to get in here," Danny said.

"What about monsters and zombies?" Barry asked again.

"They came here. But immediately left again. It was like... They're afraid to come here," Anna explained. "So, we never really deal directly with those creatures."

"Is the outside world really that bad now?" Danny asked.

"Yes," Barry answered without hesitation. "I don't know how you guys managed to survive without doing anything. But-"

And then, the realization struck Barry. He hasn't seen their skills yet.

So he immediately used Insightful Gaze on them. Even though his Magic Power had run low after fighting the six bandits, he had to still use it.

Their stats appear after Barry uses Insightful Gaze.

[ Name: Anna Robinson. ]

[ Level: 3 ]

[Life: 100]

[ Attributes: Strength: 11 / Agility: 12 / Defense: 10 / Magic Power: 35 / Luck: 20 ]

[ Skill: Fortification Lv.1 (Rare grade active skill) ]

Barry's eyes widened slightly. Anna actually has a Rare grade skill!

Based on its name, Barry thinks that the monsters and zombies ran away because this motel building was coated with that skill. So they can't touch it.

Now his question has been answered. These brother and sister were able to survive until now without leaving the motel because of Anna's skills.

Meanwhile, Danny has skills that are no less useful, although not as great as his sister's skills.

[ Name: Daniel Robinson. ]

[ Level: 4 ]

[Life: 100]

[ Attributes: Strength: 15 / Agility: 12 / Defense: 10 / Magic Power: 12 / Luck: 11 ]

[ Skill: Accuracy Lv.1 (Normal grade active skill) ]

"You can survive because you have good skills," Barry said. "However, you won't be able to survive forever. You have to start moving and acting well."

Danny and Anna exchanged glances. They…were still unsure what they should do for now.

Barry won't force them. It would be a shame if someone with skills as strong as Anna's died in this place. But he can't really force them if they don't want to.

Barry prefers to focus on the important things in front of him.

He looked at Elaine. "We'll go to that place tomorrow when it's daylight."
