Her stomach made a grumbled sound like there was mini thunder in there.
Elaine bit her lips and glanced at Barry with a shy look, hoping Barry didn't hear that.
However, of course Barry heard it.
"Do you want to get something to eat first?" Barry asked. "It was you who drove the car. So, I'm going to look for food. You just wait inside."
"No. We should go together," Elaine said. The image of the appearance of the giant cockroach came to her mind. Even now it still makes her tremble.
Barry noticed how Elaine was looking. She was clearly afraid, but she didn't want to say it. Maybe because of her pride.
"Okay." Barry nodded then looked around. "There's a convenience store there. Let's look for food there."
So, Elaine pulled the car over to the convenience store. The glass on the store was broken and there were many traces of blood.
Several Normal zombies scattered around with mindless movements. As soon as the two of them got out of the car the zombies immediately moved towards them.
With their recovered Magic Power and fatigue they can kill the zombies with little difficulty.
Barry told Elaine to hold back from releasing her Lightning Manipulation too much. Her lightning creates quite a loud sound when she uses it so it will likely attract a lot of attention.
Elaine, who also thought so, agreed to Barry's proposal. She only used a little bit of lightning bolt and aimed at the zombies' heads.
Meanwhile Barry uses his dagger which is old and has almost no durability. Even though the dagger is almost damaged, if used properly it can still be a good weapon.
Especially if it is only used to kill these weak zombies.
[ You Leveled Up! ]
A text appeared in Barry's eyes after he killed several Normal zombies. Now, he has risen to Level 7 and got 2 Attribute points. Barry immediately used the points to increase his Strength, making his Strength to 16.
'My Strength is pretty decent right now. But, I still have to add more.'
Barry stared at his dagger. There are already many chipped parts on its blade and there are even long cracks there.
Barry sighed seeing its pathetic form.
'And I also have to look for a new weapon.'
"What are you thinking?" Elaine asked. She seems to have finished killing the zombies in her part.
Barry raises his dagger. "I need a new weapon."
"You have your gun, right?"
"Yes, but I don't know how to fire a gun. Besides, I don't have any more bullets."
Elaine nodded in understanding. "Maybe, if I can get to my dad's building we can get bullets."
Barry didn't know what she meant by that. Based on what he knows, Elaine's father's company operates in the technology sector.
However, it's hard to tell exactly what a tycoon conglomerate does.
They entered the minimarket. The atmosphere inside looked grim and of course, the smell of death was everywhere.
There are mangled corpses scattered in several places. Elaine almost threw up again but she quickly controlled herself.
"Come on quickly," Barry said.
They move quickly to take foods and drinks that they think will last longer. Then leave the convenience store to get back into the car and continue their journey.
"Oh, that's the owner."
A voice made them both freeze in place. They turned towards the origin of the voice and saw a group of five people approaching the two of them.
The group consisted of three men and two women. Everyone looked young, maybe two or three years older than Barry and Elaine.
Barry frowned. They all carried their own weapons. Three of them were carrying baseball bats that had been reinforced with nails, one woman was carrying a crossbow, and the other woman was carrying a slingshot.
"I have a bad feeling about them," Elaine said. Elaine seems to also have the same thoughts as Barry about those people.
Somehow, the vibe they are emitting is not the vibe of good people. Instead, they are like predators looking for prey.
"We happened to want to find a functioning vehicle. Coincidentally, you guys brought it," one of the men from the group spoke. "The key is inside?"
Barry turned to Elaine.
"I have it," Elaine whispered.
Barry nodded, feeling a little relieved.
"If you don't mind, we have to go somewhere soon and we really need the car," Barry said.
"Oh, is that so?" the man turned towards his other friends accompanied by a sly grin. Then turned to the two of them again. "We didn't ask about that, though."
"What do you want?" Elaine asked in an unhappy tone.
"We need the car, like I said. And…" the man looked at Elaine's body up and down. His grin looked disgusting in Elaine's eyes. "We have a place if you want to join us."
Elaine saw the man's lewd grin. Elaine gritted her teeth.
Without saying anything else, Elaine immediately stretched out her hand then activated her Lightning Manipulation.
*BLARR!*
Even Barry was surprised by what she did. He widened his eyes. Elaine actually attacked without bother assessing the situation first!
Barry turned towards the group and was surprised to find that Elaine's lightning shot didn't even touch them.
A red transparent shield protected the group. The man who had spoken stretched his arms forward.
"Heh!" the man snorted with a look of disdain. "You little bitch. I will kill you slowly after I enjoyed your body."
"You shouldn't attack so hastily," Barry said to Elaine. But his gaze remained fixed on the group.
"Sorry. I… I hate his looks!" Elaine said with obvious anger.
"It can't be helped. Now, we just have to fight them. Five of them," Barry said with emphasis.
Barry activated his Insightful Gaze to see their stats and attributes.
Then, he discovered something that made his eyes widen in surprise.
