Chapter 18 - Gangsters

Paris is the most beautiful city, that's what people always say.

However, Paris is also a city with many problems.

Now it's no secret that Paris is the city with the most pickpockets.

Gangsters can even be found on every corner, often making trouble when they are not watched.

If only guns were as free in this city as they are in America, the city could become quite chaotic in no time.

Jane asked Lisa to stop when they were about to enter a certain area. It seemed that she wanted to continue on foot.

Jane's choice did not make Lisa disagree or worry, perhaps she was very confident in her abilities.

After getting out of the car, David and Jane walked along a sidewalk with many shops on the side.

At first, it was crowded, but as they got further away, David found that most of the shops were closed, looked unkempt, and the walls were full of obscure graffiti.

Despite being born and raised in this city, David had never been to this area.

Jane seemed very familiar.

"Do you come here often?" asked David, a little unsure because before graduating high school, Jane hadn't actually lived in Paris.

"Maybe about once a year, when I'm on vacation," Jane replied.

David didn't need much more explanation to know why she was vacationing in this place.

"Doesn't your family provide people to test your strength?" David asked.

He thought it wouldn't be difficult if the family wanted a group of people to even slaughter.

Jane shook her head and replied, "We don't like bringing dirty people into the house."

After saying that, she stopped her steps, and stared at a rather dark alley that they happened to pass by.

It was hard to see into the alley, but there were many sounds of laughter from there, each louder than the other.

Since David and Jane stopped in front of that alley, the people inside clearly saw them because they were under the light.

In no time, their laughter stopped echoing.

"Hey, who are they?" David heard them start talking.

They should be quite far away in the alley, but he heard their voices clearly.

"What are they doing? They seem to be rich people." They continued to talk.

"Mm, that girl is so beautiful and graceful, must be very educated."

"Educated doesn't make a woman polite on a bed. I think that girl is very good at wiggling her butt."

"Ahh, that guy is really lucky, to have such a beautiful girlfriend."

"But he's also so handsome, I'd love it if he fucked me," replied another, from a woman.

It was no surprise to David as there were quite a few women who had mental problems and then joined the gangsters.

They can sometimes be even scarier than the male gangsters.

Their wildness is no secret.

"They stood so long, do they want to join us?" The gangsters began to wonder, some burst out laughing at the question.

"It's possible that they had an unsanctioned relationship, and ran away from home," another replied.

"Oh, if that's the case, then the outcome would be bad. They won't have any money if they're children who ran away from home. They'll just be a burden on us."

"I don't mind taking care of that guy as long as he's willing to fuck me," the female gangster replied.

"Hahaha, you're right." Her friend who was also a female gangster agreed.

"He'll have two sugar mommies here," she added.

"And that girl will have many sugar daddies."

"Hahahahahaha..."

David, "..."

Jane, "..."

"You know, when you hear gangsters talking, the desire to beat them up always increases," Jane said. "It will boost morale."

"I'll beat them until they all cry," David replied, agreeing completely with Jane's opinion.

"Only, what do we need to do after we beat them up? They'll know our strength. Is there any way to erase their memories?"

David asked that not just for the sake of it this time, but he was curious as to how the Spiritual Beings covered their tracks because until now there seemed to be no traces that ever appeared on the surface.

Would anyone who saw their power be slaughtered?

However, David did not feel that way.

Given that Jane had often beaten up gangsters to test her strength, she must have done something so that the gangsters she had beaten up would not remember anything.

David thought that way because he didn't think Jane was the type who would commit a massacre for no particular reason.

"It's actually not that difficult," Jane replied. "Our spiritual power can easily damage ordinary human brain cells."

"Wouldn't that drive them crazy?" asked David with a strange expression.

"No, you probably don't know that new memories reside in the outermost brain cells, just damage the brain cells there, then they will forget the things that happened in the past few days."

"Is that so?" David had just heard the theory, so he was still a bit unconvinced.

"Of course, since I want to build up power, I usually recruit the gangsters I've beaten up. I then planted mini-bombs in their heads, which could detect their actions. If they try to betray or say something they shouldn't, the bomb will explode. This was a technology that was never released to the public. Those whose heads were fitted with such bombs never betrayed because the fear of one's own head suddenly exploding was something very frightening."

"It seems that being an ordinary person in a world like this is really like living at the bottom of a well," David said after hearing Jane's words, thinking that the world really does divide life into many classes and categories.

"Let's begin," Jane said in response.

David nodded and stepped into the alley with Jane.

From beginning to end, the gangsters did not hear their words at all, unlike them who could hear their words clearly.

"They really came," the gangsters said when they saw David and Jane enter the alley.

"Yeah, let's welcome them." The gangsters started to stand up.

They didn't think for a second that David and Jane were coming to beat them up.

Since entering the alley, David could see their figures.

He was a little surprised that there were so many of them. Probably more than 30 people, consisting of different ages and skin colors. Black and white were mixed in the group. The youngest seemed to be in their twenties and the oldest in their thirties.

There were about 7 or 8 women among them. There were even two who were quite beautiful despite the messy style where there were several tattoos on their faces.
