Chapter 12 - Could we talk privately?

Seeing Pete, Naomi immediately remembered that she was in possession of his blazer.

"I'll just take this to the laundry room and return it to him once it's dry." She concluded and hoped he had another one because the weather seemed to be cold.

She, on the other hand, did not fail to wear hers this time around and made sure to carry her own umbrella, along with Pete's.

Naomi took off Pete's name tag from his blazer and took it to the laundry room, as well as her vest.

Returning to her room, Naomi made sure to close her laptops and keep everything safely.

Then, she took one good look at the window and thought to herself,

'Just one peek, uh?'

Though she was scared she'd fall, she really loved to look out the window and sucoming to her fears while hoping nothing goes wrong, she went to the window and fell off right away.

"This is stupid." She exclaimed.

Knowing that a miracle like yesterday wouldn't repeat itself, Naomi braced herself for the impact on the floor.

Pete, coincidentally, happened to be walking along side Matthew and caught her a second time. This made Matthew laugh and pat his back heavily.

"My God, Pete, your luck seems to be getting better by the day." He teased and Pete closed his eyes, trying hard not to give in to his urge to punch him.

"Peter." Naomi suddenly called and hearing her call his name with such a sweet voice, Pete couldn't help but feel his heart race. "It's Peter, right?" She asked and he nodded.

"My name is Peter." Pete responded and Matthew, once again, burst out laughing.

"What was that? She already said your name so why are you reintroducing yourself?" He laughed.

"I guess everyone calls you Pete. Then, I'll call you Pete as well."

"No." He subconsciously said but looked aside. "I mean, it's fine if you're the only one who calls me Peter."

"Oh, alright." She smiled and he helped her to her feet, not repeating yesterday's mistake.

Naomi noticed he was wearing another blazer and sighed with relief. Then, she tucked her hand in her bag and brought out his name tag and umbrella.

"Here's your name tag." She said. "And your umbrella. Thank you once again for yesterday."

Pete stared at her for a while before taking them.

"Your blazer's in the washer. I'll give it back once it's dry. I'm so half you have another one, though. I thought I'd be making you go around in this cold weather without one." Once again, she smiled politely.

"You didn't have to. I could've done it myself." He said but she shook her head.

"It was the least I could do." She smiled, expecting him to smile back but he remained indifferent and simply patted her head like she was a kid.

"Fine. But I advice you to stay away from your window moving forward. Who knows what'll happen to you if I'm not here to save you?" With that little advice, he walked away with Matthew who waved at her cheerfully.

Then, Travis approached her and asked,

"Did you just fall from the sky?" Naomi simply shrugged to this and laughed. "What's so funny?"

"That boy has such a strange personality, don't you think?" She asked and Travis looked ahead to see Pete and Matthew. For some reason, he didn't like it. "Come on, let's go have breakfast."

Later, Naomi went to look for Miss Florence. She was a literature teacher and was currently free from classes so she was in the teachers room.

"Am I intruding?" Naomi asked the teachers in the staffroom but they shook their heads. In fact, they were delighted to see her.

"If course not, dear. Can we help you with anything?" One of the teachers, male of course, asked.

"Will, I'm looking for Miss Florence." She siad and they pointed at the extreme end where her desk was. You could say she had an exclusive area since she was the only female teacher.

"What is it, dear? Do you miss me already?" Miss Florence asked, getting up with a bright smile.

"Um... " Naomi lenaes to whisper. "It's a girls problem. Could we talk privately, I'm a bit embarrassed." She said, flushing all over her face and Miss Florence had to smile.

"My fellow teachers, could you give us a minute alone for a few minutes? It's already lunch time anyway so I hope it's not a problem." She said and they agreed. No one would dare to refuse when she was asking so sweetly.

"Sure, why not?"

They all headed for the door and she followed in order to lock the door after them.

"So dear, what is this about?" Miss Florence asked, turning to face Naomi.

"Well, the thing is..." She brushed her hair aside, awkwardly. "... When I was packing my things, I might've forgotten to pack the most important stuff." She said feeling even more awkward. "Um, do you have any tampoons on you that I could use? I'm afraid I'll start leaking by tomorrow. You know what I mean?"

Miss Florence immediately understood what she was talking about and shook her head in wonder.

"Ah, how would you survive without me?" She muttered and smiled. "It's alright. I can get one for you by the evening. Is that okay?" She asked and Naomi's face lit up.

"Yes, thank you very much. You're a life saver." She finally looked relieved. "I'll get to class now." With that, she headed for the door. "Thank you so much, I mean it." She said at the door.

"Be good and enjoy the rest of the day, okay?"

"I will." She smiled and finally left the office, waving at the male teachers that were at the hallway with a nice smile.

"Such a lovely girl." They said to themselves.

Naomi walked back to her class with a victorious grin. The day was going great.

Once Naomi entered her class, she found a lot of them at the front of the class in a group.

"Hey, what's going on there?" Naomi asked Travis, pointing at the group of boys at the front of the class.

"They're signing up for the contest." Travis said.

"What contest?"

"It's the 'Girls contest'." Travis said a bit awkwardly and Naomi's eyes shot open.

"Did you just say 'girls contest'?"
