"My apologies for that. Where are my manners.I did not ask you your name so may I please know it?"
Neya was now confused. She was thinking about the deal Jordan had just mentioned. All of a sudden she heard Jordan's question just pop in her mind.
"Neya,I mean my name is Neya sir"
"Neya. That's a nice name. There is no need of you to be formal. Do not call me sir. Just call me Jordan. Well Neya, you probably have a lot that you are thinking about but all will be answered soon n. Listen to me carefully, Neya. I have a deal to make with you and believe me when I say that it will definitely benefit us both."
He looked at Neya and her facial expression just indicated him to go on.
"My best friend and superior Nahor has been a distant and cold man ever since an incident that happened a long time ago that I can't tell you as of now."
"All people you see around here including me are not from this earth.
"That's the only thing I can tell you as of now but what you are supposed to do as of now is to follow my instructions with out question. Get me clearly on this"
"When I saw you for the first time I knew you were fit for this task. I saw the potential in you. I know that you are perfect for the task that I am about to give you. I just ask you to accept with no question."
"I want you to get married to Nahor. I believe you are the only one who can change him."
Change him? She asked herself what he meant by change him. What kind of person was he. "To do a task with no question. Will I just do whatever he wants without me asking. What does he mean by all this. Not from this earth. What does he mean?. Are these humans? If they are not Am I really safe here?A job, deal change different!. What does he mean!" Neya was all confused. Every word that Jordan said to her was causing her nothing but stress. Everything he said was only making her worried. She was a bit scared when he said that he was not from this planet. She was wondering what he meant. Then for a moment there she thought that he was a monster disguised as a human but then she thought it through again and scolded herself for thinking such a silly thing. Neya did not believe in monsters or magic. She believed that it was all fantasy. She then calmed down after assuring herself that Jordan might have meant something else. The only thing she was worried about now was the rest of the things that Jordan said. Change. How could she change someone. If he himself had failed to do that. Then how could she. She wanted to find out the answers to all these questions that were filling up her mind. The task she was going to do. Would she be able to fulfill it. What if she refused to do it. What would he do to her? The questions kept on coming and coming. Marriage. That was the biggest thing she was now worried about.
Neya had been processing all these things in her mind. First of all she did not know what these people were or where they came from.
How could she just get married to someone whom she had never met? She kept on asking herself that question. Marriage really was not child's play. It was a lifetime commitment. Was he really expecting her to marry someone whom she had never met? She had a lot on her mind. He was talking about a deal and now he was talking about marriage. She wondered how she got herself into this mess. However way she got into the mess did not matter. The only thing that mattered was a way to get herself out of the mess. But how would she do that. In the situation she was in, a way out seemed impossible at that moment. She had no other choice but to accept what fate had thrown at her.
She had to think through this thoroughly because it was definitely going to affect her future.
If she did not think it through. Then what would she be doing. Why was it her out of all the countless people. She could have never even once imagined herself in the situation she was was right then. Was fate playing with her. Is that how her life was meant to end? She asked herself.
Maybe she did something wrong. Was it. No she did not remember anything she did wrong. Maybe this was how her life was meant to end. Into a marriage with a stranger. Living with people she did not know. Being away from her grandma and everything she loved. Now she did really regret going into the woods. If she had not just done that she would not have been in the situation.
But she when she thought it through again it was pointless to blame herself. It had already happened and she could not stop it from continuing. She knew it was her fault but it only hurt more if she kept thinking about it. She had to accept what fate had thrown at her. That was the only thing she could do. She had made a great mistake. She believed it wasn't her fault. She believed that everyone made mistakes. But this time she was caught in something that she could not turn back." If fate wants it this way, well let it be so. It's my fault. I accept that. But I believe everyone makes mistakes. I do not know if this is my destiny but I believe everything happens for a reason. Maybe I am destined to be here so I will accept. This is my fate. Sorry grandma,"Neya said in her mind.
