Eve sat in the interrogation room, after a few moments of silence, the door opened, and an officer entered, placing a box of donuts and a bottle of juice on the table. Eve's stomach rumbled at the sight, and without hesitation, she ate all the donuts and drank the juice within seconds. Eve let out a sigh, her patience wearing thin as she waited in the interrogation room. She wondered who would be coming to speak with her. She assumed it would be Brian.
After half an hour had passed, the door finally opened, Brian entering the room. She took a seat in the chair opposite Eve.
"I apologize for the delay, but something unexpected came up," Brian said.
"If you don't mind me asking, what caused the delay?" Eve asked.
"The White Crusader and Vaos are in the city, if I were to make an assumption. They must be here for you. Well, until they get here, I better ask my questions," Brian said, leaning back in her chair. She took out a small notebook and pen, ready to document the interrogation.
Brian let out a sigh, "If I'm being honest, aside from the incidents with the Forbidden, I brought you in for questioning at the request of Alexander Gear. He believes you have ulterior motives and he has been observing you closely, suspecting that you're targeting him."
"Don't you find it odd that he's been keeping a close eye on me?" Eve asked.
"As I mentioned earlier, given our surveillance of the Victorious Ten and your association with Vaos, you've naturally come under the radar, whether by design or coincidence," Brian explained, her tone professional as she clarified the situation.
"Well, let's get these questions over with," Eve said, ready for the interrogation.
"Hmph, well, let's begin with some of the questions that Alexander had told me to ask for you," Brian started, but before she could continue, Eve interjected.
"Questions that Alexander left for you? In that case, allow me to enlighten you. I firmly believe, no, I am utterly convinced that Alexander, with the assistance of Priliorm, is constructing a portal. This portal, once completed, will serve as a gateway for the Forbidden to begin their second invasion," Eve revealed, emphasizing the severity of the situation.
Eve's revelation left Brian visibly surprised, her eyebrows raising slightly. "That's quite the bold claim. While it's true that the Forbidden are undoubtedly back, you have no evidence to pin this accusation on Alexander Gear, much less receiving help from that terrorist, Priliorm," Brian said, her tone skeptical yet composed as she processed the weight of Eve's words.
"Even so, that's not evidence by any means. If anything, this all sounds like baseless claims and theories to me," Brian said, writing down notes in her notebook as she maintained her skeptical stance.
"I can't argue with you exactly," Eve conceded, acknowledging Brian's skepticism. "If I were in your position, I'd be skeptical as well. Hmm, what's that noise?" Eve's attention shifted to the commotion outside the room.
"Please excuse me, I'll be right back," Brian said, getting up from her seat to investigate the noise.
Brian exited from the room and immediately noticed a gathering of officers clustered at the entrance of the police station. Their demeanor was tense, as if they were making a concerted effort to block someone from entering. However, their efforts appeared useless as the officers were effortlessly pushed aside.
As Brian looked more closely, her heart skipped a beat as she saw The White Crusader, Vaos, and Vulcan. Instantly overcome with a surge of emotions, she found herself unable to face them directly and she slipped into a nearby closet, her cheeks with a deep blush.
"Ehh! I didn't expect him to be here so soon. The White Crusader is so much cooler in person!" Brian exclaimed, her typically serious demeanor melting away as she spoke.
"Okay, Aurora Brian. Calm down, you can't be such a mess when you talk to him," Brian muttered to herself, taking deep breaths to compose herself before mustering the courage to exit the closet and face the unexpected guests.
After composing herself, Brian exited the closet, but as she stepped out, she found herself face to face with The White Crusader, his figure towering over her.
"Aurora Brian," The White Crusader said, his voice polite. "If it's not too much trouble, I have a favor to ask of you."
Brian's face began to blush a deep shade of red, her eyes darting away from The White Crusader's gaze. "Y-Yes, I'm A-Aurora Brian," she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Hey, we can't just barge in here like this, White Crusader," Vaos sighed as he approached him, Vulcan following behind, nervously laughing.
"Stop worrying, Brian will clear this situation," The White Crusader said reassuringly. "Isn't that correct, Miss Brian?"
Brian stuttered nervously, her face still a deep red. "Y-yes sir, please excuse me..." She hurried out to explain to the officers that she specifically requested The White Crusader, Vaos, and Vulcan to come.
Once the situation was cleared, Brian took a deep breath to calm her nerves before returning to them.
"Before anyone of you says anything, let me guess. You're all here for Eve Kinhana, am I right?" Brian asked.
"That's correct, Miss Brian. I'm wondering if she could be released?" Vaos said.
"Well, she isn't arrested, but I'm afraid it isn't that simple," Brian replied as they walked towards the interrogation room. She glanced at Vaos and The White Crusader, her expression thoughtful. "There are protocols to follow, and given the circumstances, I'll need to consult with my colleagues before making any decisions."
"Miss Brian, release the girl at once," The White Crusader demanded, his tone firm and commanding.
"E-Ehh, y-yes sir!" Brian stuttered, her cheeks blushing brightly again.
Vulcan looked at Brian, confused by her sudden flustered reaction. However, as he observed her, he came to a realization. It became clear to Vulcan that Brian likes The White Crusader.
"However, as the chief of police here, Aurora Brian, I believe you deserve to know the situation," The White Crusader said, coming to a sudden stop.
"Hmm, what situation, sir?" Brian said, looking at the White Crusader in confusion.
"The situation involving Forbidden and Alexander Gear's plan to bring them back," The White Crusader replied.
Brian's skepticism was evident in her tone. "You know, Eve told me something similar, but there's merely no evidence supporting such a claim. I know that Alexander Gear is bottom of the barrel kind of scum, but surely he isn't that insane either, even if this was true?"
"Aurora Brian," The White Crusader's tone was firm as he addressed her. "I plan to go to the WWP building and stop Alexander Gear. Don't interfere. I won't show any form of mercy to anyone who dares to stand in my way."
Brian's eyes widened, "White Crusader, as much as I respect you, but if you do something like that, I've no choice but to stand in your way." Her words carried a sense of determination.
"Miss Brian, I'm the least of your worries," The White Crusader said. "The Forbidden that are lurking within Legis should be your priority."
Brian let out a big sigh. "Vaos, Eve is in that interrogation room. I suggest you take her and return to Alyssum," she said firmly.
Vaos nodded. "Please excuse me," he said before walking into the interrogation room.
"Aurora Brian, I'll admit, it's pleasing to see you've followed in your father's footsteps. Which is why I'm telling you, the Forbidden are back, and it's because of Alexander Gear. Your father, back then, would've believed me without a doubt," The White Crusader said.
"Back then, we were in the Void War. Things were a lot more desperate then," Brian replied.
"How unfortunate, Aurora," The White Crusader sighed. "Vulcan, I have no reason to linger any longer. I'm heading to the WWP building now," he declared as he began to walk away.
"Hey, wait a minute!" Vulcan's voice echoed through the hallway . "Don't you think you should speak with Vaos first?" But The White Crusader remained silent as he continued to walk.
Vulcan looked at Brian, "Are you really going to intervene if he insists on heading to the WWP building?" He asked.
"I have no choice; it's my duty as the police chief to maintain peace here in Legis," Brian responded firmly.
"He's not wrong, you know," Vulcan said. "There's a lot happening behind the scenes that you might not be aware of. As the police chief, shouldn't you have access to surveillance footage or other ways to gather information?"
With a sigh, Brian waved them off. "Just take the girl and get out of here," she muttered, before she turned and walked away.
Vulcan watched Brian walking away for a moment, wondering what she'll do, before turning his attention back to the interrogation room door and making his way toward it.
The door suddenly opened.
"It took you long enough."
