Chapter 40 - Chapter Forty: Professor Juno

After an extensive search, Alvin meticulously located the four remaining members of the Victorious Ten, starting with Sidgroth. After speaking with him, Alvin found that his intuition was correct. Sidgroth was not only willing but eager to offer his assistance with what's to come.

With Aoki Kana distant in Magnolia, Alvin decided to prioritize his search for The White Crusader and Vaos. He reasoned that tackling the closer targets first would accelerate the process, allowing him to cover more ground efficiently.

Alvin's initial worry about the search being time consuming dissipated when the Regione Novem's satellite detected a significant surge of spirit and void energy in a countryside area between Calla Lily and Silene Tomentosa. Alvin realized that his targets might be in close proximity, he inputted the coordinates in his teleportation device and was gone within seconds. Upon teleporting to the coordinates, Alvin was met with the scene of The White Crusader and Vaos engaged in combat against the Forbidden Wrath. The clash of their powers sent shockwaves of energy rippling through the air.

Alvin wanted to intervene and help them, but he knew full well that he'd just get in the way. Instead, he chose to bide his time, silently observing the unfolding battle from a safe distance. Alvin reached into his pocket for his phone. Just as he was about to dial Professor Juno's number, he received a call from her first.

Alvin quickly answered the call from Professor Juno, "Professor Juno, it seems we have a situation unfolding right in front of me. I'm sure you're aware of it already, but I wanted to confirm it with you. It's quite chaotic here."

"Indeed, Alvin. I've been monitoring the energy fluctuations in that area. It seems quite intense. Are you close by?" Professor Juno replied, her voice calm.

"Yeah, I'm at the exact coordinates. The White Crusader and Vaos are fighting with one of the Forbidden, I can't identify which one it is, though." Alvin responded.

"Hmph, just sit back for now. There's no reason for you to get involved in that fight." Professor Juno ordered.

"Very well, that's what I intended to do anyway," Alvin admitted.

"I'll be right there shortly, I want to talk with the White Crusader personally." Professor Juno said before ending the call.

Alvin sighed, "This isn't going to end well."

The White Crusader and Vaos coordinated attacks and strategic maneuvers proved to be more than a match for Forbidden Wrath. Despite being overwhelmed, Forbidden Wrath, fueled by sheer determination and an unwavering love for battle, refused to succumb easily, retaliating with ferocity and resilience, ensuring that the battle remained fiercely contested.

Forbidden Wrath threw his massive battle axe at The White Crusader, the weapon cutting through the air. Yet, even as the axe hurtled towards its target, The White Crusader remained unfazed, swiftly evading the impending strike with a sidestep. Unfazed by the missed opportunity, Forbidden Wrath wasted no time, channeling the raw power of void energy within his hands to conjure a new battle axe.

Vaos took the initiative, his movements swift and decisive as he launched himself into the air, his powerful muscles propelling him with unparalleled agility. With a calculated precision, he brought his leg arcing downward in a formidable strike, his aim fixed on Forbidden Wrath's head. Forbidden Wrath reacted quickly, extending his arm to intercept Vaos's powerful kick. The force of the impact caused cracks to spread across Forbidden Wrath's arm, his facade-like body showing signs of weakness as void energy began leaking from the fractures. Despite the vulnerability exposed by the blow, Forbidden Wrath remained undeterred.

In a display of raw power and battle knowledge, Forbidden Wrath seized the opportunity as Vaos remained suspended in mid-air, his leg extended from the failed kick. With his quick reflexes, Forbidden Wrath's hand shot out, gripping Vaos's leg with a vice like grip before slamming him to the ground with great force. As Vaos bounced from the impact, Forbidden Wrath launched him skyward with a powerful throw, his movements fluid and precise.

With a swing of his axe, Forbidden Wrath delivered a devastating blow, the weapon slicing through the air as it descended towards Vaos. However, the White Crusader, ever vigilant, anticipated the attack and intercepted the attack. Blocking Wrath's attack with his Katana, he then followed up with a powerful kick, sending Forbidden Wrath staggering backward and created distance between them. The force of the impact reverberated through the battlefield, momentarily pausing the battle as the combatants paused, locked in a silent exchange of gazes.

Remaining in his defensive stance, the White Crusader observed as Vaos rose to his feet, "You've become more amateurish," he remarked.

"It's been years since I've ever fought seriously, but don't worry, I'll get back into my old self soon enough." Vaos sighed, dusting himself off.

"Hmph," The White Crusader scoffed, looking towards Alvin, who observed the battle from a safe distance. "I'm sure you noticed the rabbit sent her puppet as well. Merely watching from the sidelines, how cowardly."

"I think that Juno might be nearby, if Alvin is here," Vaos remarked, aware of the significance of Professor Juno's involvement.

"If that rabbit values her life, she wouldn't dare show her face here," The White Crusader declared. "But first, I'll deal with this scum," he continued as he began to walk towards Forbidden Wrath with determination to defeat the immediate threat before turning his attention to Juno.

A dark aura surrounded Vaos, swirling around him, its tendrils reaching out like grasping hands. With each step he took beside the White Crusader, the intensity of the aura seemed to intensify, casting a sinister glow upon his figure.

"You better not get in my way," The White Crusader warned, "I don't care if you get caught in the crossfire."

"I'll start it off, you follow up with each of my attacks," Vaos directed, with unparalleled agility, he swiftly closed the distance to Forbidden Wrath, signaling the beginning of their coordinated assault.

"Socotra kick!" Vaos exclaimed as he unleashed a devastating strike with the back of his heel aimed at Forbidden Wrath's ribs. With lightning speed, his kick connected before Wrath could react, the force of the blow driven by the swirling dark aura that trailed behind Vaos with each movement.

Wrath grunted in pain from Vaos's strike, but before he could retaliate, the White Crusader swiftly intervened. He unleashed a series of slashes, each imbued with the power of his Spirit Technique.

"Spirit Technique, level zero, light slash!" the White Crusader casted, his voice commanding as he channeled his energy into his next three attacks. With a fluid motion, he unleashed a rapid barrage of slashes, each one moving at the maximum speed his body could muster. The air crackled with energy as the slashes cleaved through the air with blinding speed, leaving shimmering trails of light in their wake.

Following the White Crusader's attack, Vaos took the opportunity to strike, his movements fluid and precise as he closed in on Forbidden Wrath.

"Silver Birch!" Vaos exclaimed as he executed a low kick technique. With pinpoint accuracy, his leg shot out, connecting with Wrath's lower body and causing him to lose his balance. The impact of Vaos's kick disrupted Wrath's stance and leaving him momentarily vulnerable to their combined assault.

With Wrath momentarily off balance, the White Crusader wasted no time in capitalizing on the opportunity. Channeling the power of his Spirit Technique, he delivered a powerful stomp onto Wrath's back.

"Spirit Technique, level zero, Rugimō!" he declared as he activated the ability. With each passing moment, he began to draw upon Wrath's energy, the dark aura surrounding their opponent began to flicker away.

As the battle continued, a sudden disturbance interrupted the flow of combat. Without warning, a large container plummeted from the sky, hurtling towards them with alarming speed.

The White Crusader narrowly evaded the container's path, rolling backwards from the imminent danger. However, before anyone could react, Forbidden Wrath found himself trapped inside as the container descended upon him. The sudden turn of events left the battlefield in silence, the impact of the container's descent reverberating through the air.

"White Crusader, that marking on the container," Vaos observed, his eyes narrowing as he recognized the familiar insignia upon its surface.

With the dust settling from the container's impact, a familiar voice echoed. Turning towards the source of the sound, Vaos and the White Crusader were met with the sight of a figure standing beside Alvin, her presence unmistakable despite the shadows that enveloped her form. "Long time no see, Vaos, White Crusader."

"Spirit technique, level zero— what the?!" The White Crusader exclaimed as he prepared to attack Juno, just as a machine fell from the sky.

"Don't bother with attacking me, White Crusader," Juno said, a confident smirk on her lips, she continued, "That's an energy dampener. You won't be able to execute any attacks that rely on your Ornament." Juno's rabbit ears perked up in a display of confidence.

With a smirk on her lips, Juno said, "Although you can snap my neck quite easily, can't you? Well, for my own safety, I better play it safe." With a snap of her fingers, portals came to life around her as they opened into the fabric of space itself. From within the portals emerged golden ethereal chains. The chains lashed out towards the White Crusader, wrapping around his arms, legs, and body with a vice like grip, rendering him powerless to resist.

"Now, now, now. Let's talk..."
